I think it would be a really bad business move if they didn't include any happy endings. In fact, that's one of the reasons (possibly the main one) that I still have hope for it. Angering a large portion of your fanbase? Not a good idea for the future. I'm one of those people who will still watch a TV show after the writers make a decision that really annoys me because I'll probably still think it's better than the rest of the stuff out there, even more so if there's a part of the series I'm still attached to, and it's the same with videogames. But I could see a lot of people  ragequitting BioWare games forever over that, if the rumors turn out to be true. I'm sure they know that. Anyway, I've loved all the games they made, so I'll have faith in them until they give me a reason not to, and because I don't count rumors as a good reason, I'm waiting to see the real deal. ;)

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm thinking in a nutshell. Well put, thank you. ^_^

I'll admit, I'll be pretty disappointed if there's no way whatsoever to get a happy ending, but I'm a pretty big Bioware fangirl; I'm not sure what it'd take to make me reconsider buying their games.

Haha, I always love the Saren hologram. It seems totally amusing that the council have a projector that makes the person about 20x the size of them. Maybe Saren insisted on it. To quote Information Society, "If I had the money, I'd have to make one of those of me... and I'd send myself to stalk the landscape and scare everybody."

I assume the projector for Udina or the human councellor is a tiny handsized one.

Glad to help. :) And it would sure take a lot for me to stop buying BioWare games. Even if all of them had what I consider to be terrible endings... did I mention that I'm really, really used to that sort of thing? Because I am. It happens when your favorite characters are tragic heroes and villains. But it wouldn't make any sense to stop watching movies and TV series because I know whoever turns out to be my favorite will likely have a big target on their back, so I won't do the same with videogames. The journey is the most important thing. I can ignore a bad ending. If the whole story doesn't interest me though, that's something I can't ignore. I find it hard to believe that BioWare would make a game that doesn't interest me, so I'll probably buy them forever.

Me too. xD I was just looking at that screenshot and the way that the camera angles show off how Saren towers over them. The Council needs to look up to him, and he's looking down on them. There has to be some meaning in that.

While BG2's main ending (you ascend to godhood but basically you'll be apart from your friends/love interest forever) is bittersweet, there was the interesting alternative of you giving up your destiny to stay with your friends and so on, which was rather nice.

That said, there was a romance option (one off the top of my head anyway) that would always end badly/in a sad way. But I guess it was somewhat inevitable with that character. You knew what you were getting into long ahead of time, put it that way.

That's really interesting. I hope ME3 has a choice like that - bittersweet, or Shepard staying with his/her loved ones. Hasn't BioWare said before that ME2, not ME3, was the "dark" story of the trilogy? And ME2 could end with everyone alive. It's those things that make me think there should be a happy ending somewhere. I can't wait to get that game guide. I want it just as much as the game itself.

*de-lurks* To be completely honest .. I never *really* expected an over-all happy -everbody lives and it’s sunshine and rainwbows- ending for the series. Sure, it would/will be nice to have a choice like that but .. you know, I always knew that not everyone and least of all my Shepards would come out of this war with a complete happy ending (though they all would deserve one .. as would the rest of the crew) or hell .. even alive. That’s just my opinion ofc and I really hope or rather expect that Bioware will let everyone have some sort of ending that he/she wants .. so those who want a un-happy/dark ending can have that and other can have something happy, you know :)

Maybe it’s also the fact that I’m currently watching Battlestar Galactica and am b/c of that SOused to shocking/depressing/what-the-hell endings after like .. every second episode and all the time that I wouldn’t really be upset/shocked if Mass Effect also ends in a dark and despressing kind of way - I have reached that kind of .. accepting way b/c otherwise I would just be constantly screaming and crying at my TV and thowing it out of the window :P

Anyways, back to topic .. like some here already said - for me it's also about the journey and not necessarily about the destination and therefore ending .. and it has been one hell of a journey until now, I can say that at least for myself - the Mass Effect series changed my look at video gaming (never was much of a gamer before) and I can safely say that there's only a small chance that I will ever love a game more than I love this series .. so yes, even if there should only be the chance at having a "terrible" ending .. the journey was so awesome that I can savely overlook that - the good outweighs the bad and so on ;)

Just my two cents :wizard:

I think it's interesting (and kind of sweet) that everyone is more upset about the NPCs perishing than Shepard. If Shepard *always* died then I think people wouldn't be too surprised.

Well, i'll warn you guys right now;

Bring tons of tissues when you play. I won't spoil, but I will say that. Don't put any expectations on the ending and it will be easier.

Yeah - and if you live in a small town like me, you also have to actually pray and hope that the copy will get to you at all before the weekend. I think that is my biggest fear .. I can wait two more days (though it kinda kills me that some can already play and be reunited with Garrus tomorrow :crying:) but not 'till next Monday to get my hands on the game ^^ I also ordered via priority shipping from amazon but you never know .. I'm hoping to get it on Thursday though ^^

Yeah, once I ordered from amazon and it didn't turn up. I complained and they said it was cancelled because my address didn't exist D: I had ordered from them for years! Madness. The joys of living in small villages?

Know how you feel, living in the back of beyond in a town that's at the bottom of the postal list doesn't help. Had problems with Amazon on and off since my Skyrim pre-order was late, but they're so handy I can't help but go back to them. So I ain't getting my hopes up for a Friday delivery, will watch vids of playthroughs to tide me over if need be. Will get my Garrus fix eventually, this I swear! Image IPB

Hey fellow Garrus lovers! What did you think of the Garrus romance in ME3?

I thought it was a lot better when it came to cutscenes and such. The little "date" was cute too. :)

I just met up with him. Had the first conversation on the Normandy.

It... was... oh my. I was smiling the whole time. :3

EDIT: Ok, got to the date scene. This is officially my favorite romance of all times. OF ALL TIMES. At this point I don't even care about the endings. Bioware did a fantastic job. The game is AMAZING.

EDIT 2: ... all right, no, I still care about the endings. Game still amazing.
