If i could send a text to myself 24 hours in the past:
"Ok, when you talk to Garrus on earth, just take that as your ending and stop"

Id be so much happier right about now ><
Was in love with the game until the end.
/drama queen out

[Continuing ENDING SPOILER discussion]

Just to kick in regarding space travel: the mass relay network could potentially be rebuilt, I assume there's nothing stopping the reconstruction of the network or regaining said knowledge. However, it's a point-to-point system, so you'd have to physically send a crew to build a new relay at the other end before it would work. Traveling in such a fashion even at 99.9% of light speed may take tens of thousands of years (for EACH relay) if not longer, assuming the ship even lasts that long.

I don't know. Some people say thanks to the technology the civilizations of ME keep, you can croos the galaxy in thirty years... don't know about the specifics.

Well if that was true, surely people would have met up with other races by then. Assuming fuel was not an issue, and there were ships with such technology still available.

Mass Effect has always been terribly vague about lore and what's possible.

All I know is, knowing the endings and how much it breaks my heart makes it so much more harder to play through the good parts of the game. I was still really broken up this morning. I'm feeling better, but I still get this gut reaction whenever I see Garrus. I just want to hug him and tell him everything is ok and end the game there. *sigh*

I know. *hugs* You'll get better.
And headcanon, remember. HEADCANON shall save us all.

*hugs* Headcanon is my solace right now. If there's one good thing about how vague Bioware left some things, it's that it at least gives us plenty of elbow room to headcanon stuff.

That, and it's nice to at least have you guys to talk to.

It's ambiguous enough as to what actually happened with everything and everyone that I think they're EXPECTING us to headcanon it a bit.

Which is the exact opposite of what they promised.

ENDING SPOILERS

Actually, even that last scene is ambiguous. The kid asks "Where can I go to the stars?" and the guy says something like "someday my sweet"... so that does not necessarily imply that space travel is doomed. Maybe the kid's too young.

I hate it though so I'm denying this scene entirely. I hate it with a burning passion. I don't care about those people and I don't care who the hell voiced the old guy. Everything we've been working for and what are the outcomes of OUR actions, I wanted to know that. What happened to the krogans, the asari, the turians, the quarians, and what happened to my friends. I don't care that my darling Shep and her crude stories are used as a bedtime story.

And I'm still very disappointed we didn't get an ending in which the Reapers win.

Wow, rant. Sorry.

I completely agree. Like others I have mentioned, we have paid for a game in which we have to headcanon the ending. People do that anyway but usually there is more details - something like DA:O. It was vague and left a few things up in the air. It was enough details for fans - people added headcanon because they wanted too, not because they needed to. For ME3, we NEED to headcanon the ending. I have never wrote a fan ficition story but I really think I might have to do this for my Shep and Garrus. It might even make me feel better.

BTW, does anyone know if it is possible to leave Garrus behind somewhere? Like on Earth or Palaven? I don't want him on the Normandy...for obvious reasons. But due to the teleporting issue, will he end up there anyway? (Even if he does - I will headcanon that out....especially since it sounds like a bug - but I am still curious). Thanks!

Has anyone seen what I like to call "Calm before the Storm" moment?
SPOILERS BELOW!

Yeah, I just walked in on Garrus/Tali...calibrating some weapons. He's got reach, she's got flexibility?

This won't happen if Garrus and Tali are in a relationship with Shep. So no, I won't be seeing this. Luckily.

Spoilers.

Is anyone else here really bothered that even if we can't live out a happy life with Garrus... he get's stuck on some random Garden world and never sees his family, home, or even knows if Shepard is alive or dead? It seems like the ending suggests they never even made it off of that world. I really hope Bioware fixes the ending somehow. The lack of choice is completely unacceptable for a series marketed on choices. I would have been satisfied with a death ending if Garrus was able to live out a relatively good life, or went down with Shepard in the end and was in the final scene with her. (let alone that since the humans survived, that meant Tali and Garrus likely starved to death or had to resort to other means.)

This.

Or perhaps in that version they built it wrong. Whereas in our headcanon versions they did it correctly so the outcome of the use of it is different....and therefore Shep's fate can be different.

May not make sense but hell, a handful of stuff doesn't make sense in ME3. If they can use "spacemagic" so can I!!!:wizard:

By the way, I know it's off topic but since we're discussing the endings, is anyone else really annoyed with the "true" purpose of the Reapers? And the whole "organic vs. synthetic" thing?

And to stay on topic, I love Garrus. (SPOILER: and the banter he has with his dad.)

Yes - I think the true purpose of the Reapers is silly...but I could've have overlooked that...if it wasn't for those endings! :pinched:

And Whaattt? Shep meets Garrus' family?!?! Is the romance acknowledged by anyone when this happens?!? :o

First of all I haven't played through to the end yet, and I don't really want to honestly, but I have seen the 'endings' and I've been thinking, why would it take so long or be that difficult to rebuild the relays? The parts and technology that make up the relays are still there right? It looked that way from the clips. That and with the destroy ending you’ve got god knows how many reaper corpses all over the various planets. That’s a lot of resources that could be used to get the galaxy back up on it’s feet. And of course there’s all the scientists that worked on the crucible. All those things combined with everyone using whatever they can find, I don’t see it as being impossible to return life to some kind of normalcy within a reasonable amount of time.

Anyway back on topic, despite all the issues I have with ME3, the one Bioware did do right is the Garrus romance. It’s brilliant, I can’t really think of how they could’ve improved it really. The date scene, some of Garrus comments, and of course the comments from other characters, it’s all perfect. My Femshep is definitely getting her happy ending with Garrus in my headcanon.

No, you don't meet them exactly. You just hear a banter between Garrus and his dad.

YES. I agree. Maybe the ME3 team didn't thoroughly think this out:huh::pinched:.....but damnit, my Shep and Garrus are gonna be happy! :D<3 You can't take that away from me, Bioware! You aren't allowed to!

As for the romance, I've only had one conversation so far....so I really can't wait for the rest! I am SO excited. It is one of the only things I have to look forward to in ME3. Though I hear the game is great...until the last hour or so. It all depends on the rest of the 90-95% of the game at this point.

I just heard Vega call Garrus "Scars."

Vega, and his nicknames, are officially legit in my book.

I've got a friend who named her Shep Lola.

Did you get the banter between Joker and Garrus after Tuchanka?
