yeah i know. and i love wrex a bunch too.... in fact, i can't really say that there's a character in this that i dont love already. even Liara... and i never liked her all that much.

also... it seems wrong of me to kill Mordin on Pi-day.  or right, maybe.

*sobs* i can't take this game... i didn't realize it'd be so much of an emotional trip... but i have to finish it.

oh gods i do love those banners. *yoink* oooo, if i can get a screenshot of my Shep with Garrus, could i get one? :D won't be for awhile.

edit:  where do i find those videos?

Guys, there used to be a topic or collection of turian face symbols, does anyone know where it is or have a copy of it somewhere? PM if you can, my boyfriend wants to attempt a Mass Effect RP if he can and that kind of information would be helpful.

Still upset about the endings but I feel strong enough now to say how amazing bioware handled the garrus romance and how it was worth the wait.

Ok, where to start!!! Ok first off, the dialogue between these two characters was just sublime; my femshep FINALLY was able to tell garrus how she really felt about him. They were written like an actual couple and that’s what I wanted most of all. It was funny, natural, BEAUTIFUL and just so heartbreaking when you got closer to the end. But spirits was it romantic *fans self* I had fangirl overload , there was just SO MUCH content to be spoiled by (thank you so much again bioware!)

So let’s start at the beginning. The first conversation...I must have rewatched 5 times just because it was so sweet and romantic . While I wanted femshep and garrus to jump each other on the palaven moon mission I understand why they didn't. Garrus didn't want to assume anything but hoped she still felt the same way after the months apart. I’m just so glad the paragon interrupt became an affectionate one at last, and garrus pulling out a bottle of wine was just icing on the cake for that scene.

Next was the swoon worthy delivery of “I need you” when you talk to him at the turian refugee camp. Being so used to bioware separating the romance dialogue from the main script I was so happy to see that your romance even influenced the “non romantic” dialogue if that makes sense.

And You guys... I can’t tell you how giddy and shocked I was when garrus drove my femshep up to that romantic point on the citadel and gave her the best video game kiss I HAVE EVER SEEN. Up until then I accepted that my femshep would never really *kiss* garrus like a human and was content with pecks on the cheek and headbumps. Because there was NO WAY bioware was going to animate garrus kissing you right? (Image IPB).

I missed the paragon interrupt the first time and I’m SO glad I did because I thought it made the epic kiss even better IMO.  After confessing that he’s unsure how to show his affection ,shep laughs and tells him “you just need to grab her and kiss her like you mean it”. If only you could have seen my face when he held her and said “That I can do”. HOLY CRAP! And also because I missed the paragon interrupt he kisses her TWICE, he goes in a second time after shep responds “and rather well”.

Image IPB

I was like this for hours afterward seriously.

The whole date scene was my absolute favourite moment of the pair, I even got teary when femshep finally said “I love you garrus vakerian”. Just, wow.

Then you have more moments of them comforting each other during the conversations which I greatly appreciated, shepard needed to have an arm around her after thessia. It showed that bioware listened and had garrus ask you how you were feeling and comforted you when you needed it this time.

Next the sex scene. While I totally expected another fade to black I won’t lie and pretend I wasn’t hoping to see a half nekkid garrus spooning shepard when she woke up Image IPB. But again, the scene was so romantic I forgave it. Thanks for posting those extra emails it really makes that moment even better (and explains why garrus was dressed) glad to know garrus told shep she was beautiful *swoon*.

And finally the goodbye scene.  While my shep is no way having kids (had to pick the renegade option there, and besides I already have grunt to look after Image IPB) Garrus jokingly talking about retirement and mutant offspring was very touching because it was his way of saying he wanted a future with shepard, whatever that might be. The final kiss was amazing and my heart broke hearing femshep’s delivery that last line

“You’ll never be alone”.

Just god damn, when garrus responded “never” I felt a pang because I began to worry if they would see eachother again and PRAYED neither would die.  Hands down this is the best Bioware romance I’ve seen , they really put their heart into this side story and it showed.  Now all they have to do is give us a DLC ending with femshep reuniting with garrus on top of a pile of dead reapers and I’ll feel strong enough to replay their romance again.

Hi again, after lots of months avoiding spoilers in the forums!

I finished ME3 yesterday and I spent the whole day crying, I can't believe it. I loved every single minute with Garrus in this game, it was such a perfect story. But I cannot stand the fact that it doesn't matter if Shepard dies or not, they will never see each other again. I can't get over that, it breaks my heart. After all, he ordered her to come back alive :(((

So many tears, sooo many...

I've been on board with Garrus since ME1. I was disappointed to be offered Kaiden, though I have mad love for Raphael Sbarge from KOTOR. But I just didn't like the way Kaiden was written; he seems weak and whiny compared to Garrus. Like others, I agree that he seems to love the idea of Shepard whereas Garrus always has your back. I really believe he'd do anything for you.

For me, this is canon. First, I will always pick the destroy option because that's Shep's mission, and she's never going to let a creepy AI kid dissuade her from that. Too bad about the geth and EDI (it does make me feel like my work was wasted), but eggs, omelettes, and what-not.

Thereafter, I think one of two things could be true. When Shepard takes a breath there at the end, the test might've been all in her head for some reason & the final battle hasn't occurred yet. Therefore, there's still a chance for her to be with Garrus.

In the second possibility, well, she's buried in rubble, and the Normandy has crashed in a jungle on Earth. (I refuse to entertain the possibility that they're stranded on some remote planet.) This ending has its own problems, however, as the massive fleet is now stranded in the Sol system, which doesn't have the resources to provide for them all. (But I'm not worrying about that.) In this scenario, Garrus obviously will mount a rescue effort and save his beloved.

I'm giving Bioware a chance to clarify which of these endings is accurate. If they never do, then I'll pick one and use it in my Garrus/FemShep fic, which is currently over 42K and still dealing with events in ME2. I'm sure it will be a novel by the time I finish it, but paying work has to come first. Mostly. (I have a deadline, but I wrote a new fic chapter last night to cheer myself up after the endings.)

Welcome back Hyrule and Bolboreta!

seems like making us cry was in the cards for Bioware... but they also made an awsome game and on top of it gave us the perfect Garrus romance.

As for the endings, Im a big fan of giving them a warrior death. Garrus first so he can order the drinks in heaven and then Shep, once she said her goodbyes to Anderson. But there's also lots of happier headcanons floating around. Hopefully we can get some explicatins from the des at some point. Specially about the Normandy nonsense. I hope they take that part away. Its one thing to die for the greater good, but it definitly is an other thing to die alone.

Thanks!

Actually, I wouldn't mind if was our LI instead of Anderson the one who got with Shepard into the Citadel. It would have been even more impressive: my Shep would have avoided TIM's shot with less hesitation and they would have watched Earth through that window, with Garrus dying by her side. Then, she wouldn't mind to sacrifice herself.

I know it sounds a little bit selfish, but Garrus alive in a planet without seing her ever again is too cruel, they should have died together :(

Exactly! While dying is sad, it was always a possible part of the equation for Shep. and thts something Garrus understood so well. For me he's even the one to make this possiblility acceptable for Shep (I teared up when he said 'Never'). But theres no possible explanation for him to run away on the Normandy and then end up stranded somewhere for ever. Its cruel and its the wosr way to help the players accept the death of a character they spent many years creating.

Does anyone know who primarily wrote Garrus in ME3? Was it Patrick Weekes?

Patrick Weekes was Garrus's writer for ME1 & 2, so I'd be surprised if that's changed. I remember his twitter post on what Garrus smells like.... <3

If he did write Garrus for ME3, you can't deny that he delivered.

In an interview, Mac Walters said that had written Garrus in ME1 & 2 and Patrick took him over in ME3 when Walters was bumped up to head writer.

Like bolboreta said , if shep HAS to die then I would rather have preferred a scene like she described. Like, if you bring your LI to London you see them at the console instead of Anderson.  After TIM dies, You slump down together and stare at the earth in your last moments.

Garrus: ...You did it Shepard

Shepard: No...we did it

*they weakly hold hands*

Garrus: *turning to the window* Wow, would you look at that...

Shepard:  Best seats in the house

Garrus: Should have brought the wine, to celebrate...

Shepard: We’ll just have to drink it when we get back

Garrus: Yeah...

Shepard: Garrus?

Garrus:  *eyes start to close* mmm

Shepard: Hey, stay with me, we’re almost through this

Garrus: Sorry, the bar’s waiting shepard...I’ll remember ...to buy you that drink...when I see you

Shepard: Garrus!? Wait! Don’t-

Garrus: I’ll be there when you...need ...me

*his hand drops from hers*

Shepard: Garrus...

*she strokes his face but then looks down at her own wound...she’s losing a lot of blood*

Shepard: See you soon...

I downloaded the new ME3 audio extractor and was taking a look around. Are there lots of variations of the moment with Garrus on the Citadel? The date? Because there are several lines of dialogue I never got and was wondering about such as there are some lines implying Shep and Garrus get stopped by a C-Sec worker and Shep asks if they give a damn about regs or not. Shep suggesting they dive into the pool below and Garrus saying something to the effect of, "You've never seen a Turian swim have you? It involves lots of flailing interspersed with the occasional drowning."

I didn't get this line either, but I'm guessing its in game if you make the right dialogue choices. After they spend they night and Shep has a nightmare, she says "I'm ok, just a little wired." To which the response is; "Even after our little performance?"

Annnd can I just say how hard I squee'd like a fangirl when the Primarch's first name was Adrien? That is my Shep's name.

You don't know they won't see each other again (unless you didn't get the ending where Shepard is alive).

I'm sure we'll all agree that Shepard will never stop looking for Garrus and he will never stop looking for her. The odds of them finding each other are astronomically small but that isn't the same as impossible. Have faith, stay strong :)

I still have faith that that was NOT the real end but a result of shepard being knocked out by the beam. It was way too abstract and strange for it to be...real you know?  There's rumors that an expansion is in the works but I don't know if its legit. Mass effect is about choices and we SHOULD be rewarded with a good ending if that's what we've worked hard to get.

There should be a multitude of endings that affect the final cinematic *like DAO* We should be able to SEE what our big choices have done.  One of the endings should INCLUDE a noble death if people want that but I don't because femshep and gar need to be together...he made me promise  not to die damn it.
