Man, whatever problems I may have with the game's ending, the Garrus relationship this time around was absolutely wonderful.

As pathetic as this is, though, during that last scene in which you talk with Garrus... I started full on bawling. Immediately after, when they put you on that machine gun turret, I was so wracked with sobs that I couldn't see to shoot. It was pretty bad, haha.

(also hi fellow Garrus fans. c:)

I can barely stomach that scene. It makes me weep like a baby, and I can start seeing the dreadful endings coming right towards me to kick me in the face. It's awful.

Same here, I was awed with how well they handled the Garrus/Shep relationship in this game

I <3 Garrus so much!

This time around I was pure Renegade to him and felt much better for being able to tell him to stop holding up everything to question me AGAIN or to just leave. I refused to let him join the Normandy again, too. I'm not sure what else can trigger it, but Joker saluting me and saying that was me finally getting the respect I deserve felt like at least one person on the crew understood why I didn't want Kaidan on the team. He wasn't really with the mission or ready to work with Shepard.

It did feel very good. Shut up or GTFO.

I've never not let him back on the Normandy though...does he get super pissed like Ashley?

No, he behaves all the time :P

TBH I kind of like the idea of Kaidan growing a spine where Shep is concerned.  My Shep terrified him in ME1.  I hope he's not as much of a brat as Ashley is; I only let her on board the Normandy because the alternative was giving her her own command, and I don't trust her judgment as far as I can throw her after the Udina coup.

Also, shameless self-promotion and depressingness: Ghost

I read this fic before you posted this in my multi-day ME FF binge to pull myself out of the post ending depression. Good Job on it~

Yep, they did a beautiful job with the two of them. The only line I questioned was when Garrus says, "You seemed like you needed time to figure us out..." Haha, NO. My Shep has been all Vakarian, all the time, since ME1, when he shot the baddies in the head, saving Dr. Michel. Otherwise, it was perfection, my favorite part of the game. If I ever work up the courage to replay it, it will to revisit those cute Garrus scenes. I'm actually thinking about DLing the datapad app for my Ipad and playing through again, just for the texts. (I'll stop before the ending)

Luckily, I kept a save game from right before their date on the Citadel! I can go back and play that whenever I want! Without finishing the game! Woohoo!

Gah, I lack and Ipad/touch/phone. I only have an old nano...

They NEED to release it for the PC or something... After they fix the endings that is.

If you do get those texts, mind PMing me a copy?

I was actually kinda relieved when he said that. :P My Shepard went "OH! He wasn't ignoring me! He was just giving me space." It semed like the awkward kinda thing Garrus would do . . . thinking that with everything going on that Shepard would need some time to think.

Prior to ME3, even though I preferred to have Shepard romance Garrus, I always said if turians were real I'd be more inclined to run screaming from them than date one.

After ME3, well, they're still frightening-looking and not the most beautiful to look at, but... Garrus was too darn sweet.  So if turians existed and acted like that?  I'd consider it.

But regardless of that, Shepard/Garrus was a very enjoyable experience to play through.

I just hate how the ending marred everything, and that we don't get to see Garrus come to Shepard's rescue in the good Destroy ending, or see him mourn if Shepard dies.

Frankly I'm disinclined to believe in that free "The Truth" DLC rumor, but... one can hope.  Minimally.  But it may be better to be like Garrus and expect the worst because if something good happens we'll all be pleasantly surprised.

That line kind of threw me for a loop too, but it does makes sense if you think about it from Garrus's perspective.  He doesn't know that Shep's 100% on board with this, especially with the galaxy going to hell in a handbasket.  He always expects the worst, so he's always been careful to play things off more casually and give Shep a gracious way out should she want it.

And for my Shep personally, it worked because she's so emotionally distant during ME1, and only completely grows out of her intimacy issues and skittishness with Garrus's help.

Yeah me too. Lexane was like "Are you KIDDING, I've been throwing myself at you since you came back on the Normandy!"
I like roleplaying her as being just as nervous as he is. The idea of two complete badasses on the battlefield blushing and hesitating when it comes to personal relationships amuses me a lot. :D

True, Garrus is always so adorably akward about the relationship. So yea, very in character.

Oh Garrus, I'll love you forever...

LOL.  Given how handsy they are in the actual romance dialogue, I think my Shep probably jumped Garrus right then and there in the battery as soon as he pulled out that bottle of wine.

Well, there wasn't a cot in there this time. I think it's obvious where he's been sleeping. ;)

Ditto this. He's my favorite part of the Mass Effect franchise, due in no small part to the phenomenal voice acting of Brandon Keener. That, plus the excellent romance in ME3, is just incredibly gratifying.

Which is why the endings felt so much worse. If the rest of the game had been mediocre with a crappy relationship, I wouldn't have had my hopes up for a fitting conclusion.

Might explain why the bed in Shep's quarters is so much harder than it looks :P

This video just sums up all the problems I had with the ending

There really isn't anything more to add to what this guy is saying (it's brilliant) plus go to 5:00 for the type of ending (of many) that I was hoping to get. He does a great garrus impression by the way LOL

Just got a few texts from Garrus on the datapad app...oh my god you guys, I melted. Garrus is so sweet I'll need a whole new set of teeth. And then a third one, because the second set rotted straight through as well.

I won't spoil it for you guys who want to see it for yourself, but HNNGH.

Dang, must have missed those. I can't keep up with this thread sometimes :P

Did anyone post the one Garrus sends Shepard while she's asleep? It's adorable, but I can't help but laugh at Garrus just getting up and hanging around her cabin, texting her.

Repost.  And I think it's sweet how Garrus wanted to let Shep know she was beautiful without waking her up.  Just the fact that they can find one another attractive is full of precious.
