Please share if you do. I MIGHT do this on my canon run. How do you convince Kaidan/Ash to NOT want to come on the Normandy?

Also, regarding the blog post, I will remain pessimistic.

It uses negative language, such as 'destructive' and 'painful', attempting to make Bioware seem like the victim against a ruthless and unsatisfying fan basis that is apparently angry at a product they shouldn't be angry at. Possibly to give the Retake Movement a bad image and hinder us.

And all we know is that we are recieving CLARIFCATION, there was NOTHING in that that would CONFIRM a DLC ending change. This line for example: "...that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey."

I read this as 'We will recieve more answers to questions we didn't want in the first place (Refering to Starchild)' as apposed to 'we will reverse the decision to do this' (As I'm sure most people wanted).

I'm not saying this doesn't mean we won't necessarily get one, just please don't let up now, they are using words and statements that can easily have double meanings, so I'm remaining cautious until they release an OFFICIAL statement for a DLC that will alter the endings.

So hold the line! Do it for your future Krogan Babies, people!

I'd love to see this, but I'm way too big of a nancy pants to actually do it in my playthrough. I've been depending on bluumberry's youtube vids just to find out what Garrus says if you break up with him. I couldn't bring myself to let that happen in game.

Edit: thanks for the welcome :D

When they turn up in the Docking Bay after Udina's coup, just deny them permission to board the ship.  Ash got pretty pissy with me, I don't know what Kaidan does.  You never see the VS again after that except as a war asset.

I imagine Kaidan gets the sad puppy look and gives you an "I understand" speech.

If you're worried about being alone but want the 'best' ending where Shepard lives, I recommend just playing with random people on bronze. It doesn't take that much effort to bring up your TMS with MP, and you get 3% galaxy wide readiness for each match you finish on bronze. With the assets I got in SP, I'm assuming that the 60% readiness I had in MP did SOMETHING.

Though the math of it confuses me, since according to my assets alone, I did gain enough support from war assets I collected.

Also, turians are fun to play.

As a Kaidan romancer myself, I think it's in the eye of the beholder, it was meant to show their connection and intimacy with each other. Kaidan was just more shy about it than Garrus was, who was more open with Shepard (Though to be fair to Kaidan I suppose, he hasn't had sex with her in roughly 3 years).

I'm disappointed they removed the 'smolder' scene with Kaidan though, that had me SWOONING in the script.

Oh well, at least there's Garrus and his date scene...

I've noticed there are specific differences between Garrus and Kaidan, or other romances. In the end, I think this amounted to their relationship. Kaidan, to a point, still feels like a honeymoon stage.

Garrus felt like they were bondmates, partners. Deeper than simply, husband and wife or boyfriend and girlfriend. Open, accepting, trusting. There is no need for flowers, wine, chocolates. They simply... are. It is not an easy thing to explain. It's like when you can sit beside each other, doing your own thing, without it being awkward.

I mean, Garrus' idea of a date with Shepard was shooting bottles on top of the presidium. Judging by Shepard as her own character, rather than what we have influenced her, I thought that this was perfect, and showed Garrus knew Shepard, who she was and how she was and what was a great way to burn off steam.

Garrus's sex scene, he simply asks her if she'd like his company, and is not fussed or built up over it (There was a comparable difference between the ME3 and ME2 scenes, Garrus was awkward and adorable in the ME2 one, yes, but not in a bad way. That kind of 'fuss' was rather because it was new to them.), like the ME1 sex scenes, or the scene with Kaidan in ME3. After their bonding, he lets her rest while he takes care of work, helping take a load off Shepard's shoulders.

To put it in a simpler term... Making love does not always have to result in you waking up in their arms. Sometimes the sweetest thing to wake up to is your partner taking care of things for you. Making breakfast, taking care of the kids, cleaning up, etc.

To me, that's what makes Garrus' romance so wonderful. It simply... is. There is no drama, no 'does he or she REALLY want me or love me', even with the war going on and even IF Shepard had an ME1 romance with Kaidan (Have not seen or done an ME1 Liara romance, so can't comment on that). Garrus simply trusts Shepard, and understands if being with him in such a way is too much, but he doesn't let it effect their friendship, or the way they must be on a battlefield.

EDIT: Oh dear, I rambled quite a bit. Erm, here, have an apologetic picture.

Perfectly put, absolutely.

Back on here due to insomnia, hi everyone!

I think they said that when you get to the Udina scene with the council members, just don't choose Renegade or Paragon options.

This is correct.  To have Shep shoot the VS, take the Renegade interrupt after the first bit of dialogue.  To have Garrus shoot the VS, don't take the interrupt and select Garrus first in party selection.  I think he might also have to be the more "Renegade" of the two party members you take with you.

I think I'm going to. I might not get to this point tonight (I'm on the genophage cure mission right now).

So the plan is to bring Garrus and James (since with those two we know it'd be Garrus who shoots the VS) and then choose the neutral dialogue and not choose any interrupts... I'll let you all know what happens and what Garrus says afterwords!

Once again... sorry to any Kaidan fans I'm just curious in the extreame!

Kaidan does do some excellent puppy eyes, though IMO they're nothing on Liara's.  I found Kaidan's ME1 ninjamance obnoxious.  I found Liara's endearing in her own derpy, socially awkward way.  Thankfully I think I've managed to get both of them to back off in this ME1 PT.

Little off topic but are you guys still playing ME3 despite the ending buisness? I decided to hold off my single playthroughs untill a proper answer is given so I'm finally doing the multiplayer. Haven't unlocked any turians yet but that's my goal.

Yeah.  I'm mostly replaying ME1 but I like the MP, so I play a round or two a day.  I've unlocked a salarian and a quarian.  No turians yet :?

Part of me wants to start doing reruns but I seriously can't bring myself to do it. Last night, I replayed the London mission because I wanted to see what people said to you again before you headed out of the Final Run (discovered I'd missed talking to the Communications Tech so got a whoooole new bunch of stuff out of that AND I started tearing up at the Garrus farewell dialogue again) but when I got to Anderson I found myself saying very loudly "NO NO I DON'T WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN," and panic reaching for the power switch on my Xbox. I do tend have pretty strong reactions, but they don't usually override other strong urges, especially regarding things I love.

I'm ME1-ing it up at the moment. I need my time away and going back to where it all began makes me feel a bit better. Apparently this runthrough's theme is "Go Dextro or Go Home."

It feels dramatic to say it but I think the way this ending issue resolves will ultimately impact on the way I feel about video games. Once I began to appreciate what I was playing I felt like someone at BW had gotten hold of a rap sheet with more information on it about me than I'm even aware of and after reading it they said "Hey. Let's make this space rpg game for this person and let's call it Mass Effect." Mass Effect totally changed how I see and evaluate video games, and I believe it did so in a positive manner.

I’m not playing ME3 at the moment, waiting to see what BW is planning for the future, that and I’m not touching multiplayer with a ten foot barge pole. I want to replay it though, just don’t know if I can cause of the endings.  Currently entertaining myself by trying to animate my head canon in the unreal editor.

I'm not playing ME3 right now, everytime I try, I just can't bring myself to. So now I'm trying to replay ME1 with a new femshep in the only class I've never played, which is a vanguard. Still takes a little work, was playing nonstop the few weeks before ME3 came out.

I am leaving ME3 till the ending/DLC is sorted, it is too sad at the moment to play it knowing what will happen. Which is a shame, as I want to, and then I remember, and then...meh.

Baldur's Gate (still my favorite video game series) was the game-changer for me.  That game was the first one that really challenged me as both a gamer and a roleplayer.  Though it never made me cry the way ME3 did.

I'm doing ok replaying ME1.  It's far enough removed from what happens in ME3 that I'm ok with it, and I'm being super-completionist this time since it'll end up being my final canon playthrough.  Hopefully by the time I get to ME3, we'll have some closure.

I'm playing ME2 at the moment, roleplaying Shep falling desperately in love is fun. Playing ME3 leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I watched the final romance scene with garrus again to make me feel better today. Picked the renegade option this time and laughed

Shep: I'm ok,  just a bit wired

Garrus: Even after our little performance?

Shep: *laughs* you know how to get my motor running

That is what is tempting to play again, just to play out the romance scenes differently, as I always choose Paragon answers. I tend to like Garrus's responses better to those, though that one is funny!

Ooh top of page:
