So... I feel like a huge jerk... I restarted the whole series again with the sole intention of killing off Kaidan so I don't have to put up with him in 3. I always romanced him in 1, so I always killed of Ash... now I'm thinking... yeaaaah.... I'll wait for the Turian goodness after I get spaced.
Heh, I did the same thing.
Im the odd one out again it seems. Even with the lack of catfight, I'm quite happy I kept Kaidan around (until I send him to the fleet after the citadel coup).
First it gives some sense to Garrus telling my FemShep she needed some time ot figure things out (she really didnt but its understandable that Garrus might have thought so since she felt the need to be nice to Kaidan).
Second, I got to send him back to the fleet and got a nice little letter for it that made it feel like he knew Shepard was disapoint in him. Perfect, because thats exactly how I felt when after put a bullet in Udina whn he drawn his gun on the asari councilor Kaidan asked me if I really acted with integrity. Im all fine if he asks himself that question when he gets to kill Udina (like on my faithful Kaidan Shep). After all, he isnt used to making hard calls like that. But questionning my Shep once again, and then promissing he's gonna have her back from now on. That maed me irked. Sending his ass back to the fleet was the perfect renegade interrupt.
What can I say, some people are fit to be on the Normandy, and some arent (it all depends on the Shep Im playing of course). But it was more satisfying to make him understand that then just killing him during the coup. It kinda felt like a worthy ending to his character arc with Shep. He tried and obviously wasnt good enough. The end.
When I think about it, they really make it hard to enjoy Kaidan as a friend if you didnt romance him or if you moved on. On the other hand, Garrus is my Kaidan faithful shep's best friend. Totally diffrent character arcs those two.
