I don't think I ever would but I think it's nice that you can turn down the sex from your LI without it being a break up type thing.

I hate to bring up old news, but, they seem to have some sort of marriage because there are two Turians in front of the Purgatory Bar that are arguing and one mentions the other's "wife and kids". He does use the word "wife".

Of course this could be a slip up in writing since I remember the term "mate" being used before.

Also, while I'm torn on whether or not I want Shepard to live/die in the end of ME3 (did I not tell you guys? I've spent the past day meticulously coming up with my own plot/ending to ME3, muahahaha!), I DID come up with a great survival scenario that kinda makes me teary too :crying:

The Crucible (if kept in my headcanon -- if not, some situation similar to that which I am about to describe) has just been activated by Shepard (not necessarily by means of the Citadel), creating a destructive explosion of sorts directly at the point of activation. It turns out that, though the release of energy caused an explosion, it actually lowered the Reapers' shields, bringing down their defenses. As a last means of defense, the Reapers begin to go on a heavy offensive, attempting to beat down the opposing forces before they realize//take advantage of their defensive collapse.

The fleets begin taking heavy fire, and separate commanding officers of different races and ships begin to order their people to pull out, no longer following the chain of command from Admiral Hackett, who desperately tries to reinspire the offensive to continue. Garrus, having just witnessed his love presumably perish, taps into Hackett's feed that is being sent out across the entire armada.

"Look at yourselves!!" He shouts, artillery fire screaming all around him as his gaze bores directly into his console as he speaks out in desperation to the armada. "Have you forgotten what we're fighting for? Commander Shepard just gave her life to save not you, not me, not this fleet, but the entire galaxy from certain destruction, and now you're going to dishonor her sacrifice by abandoning the cause?" His face is overcome with grief. "If we retreat now, there won't be a galaxy left to save. And if you flee now, this galaxy isn't worth saving. Please, for our Commander, the uniter of the galaxy.... stand strong. Stand together."

He is met by silence across the feed of the armada, ships having stopped movement in one direction or another altogether. He frantically hangs onto the last bit of hope Shepard's demise has drained of him, his stomach (gizzard? HAHA) gripped with a dread unmet by any of the atrocities he'd witnessed before. As foul and destructive as the Reapers were, nothing filled him with such a sense of despair as the surrender of the galactic force Shepard had managed to band together.

"I'm not dead yet, Vakarian!" He felt a smack on the back of his fringe, jumping in response - it didn't hurt, in fact, it was a rather gentle gesture given the voice that accompanied it. Whirling, he was overcome with joy as he saw Shepard, his Shepard, limping next to him, torn to shreds, covered in blood and debris, face wan and hair in disarray, but eyes alive with the fire that just never seemed to fizzle out. She was alive.

Cheers erupted from every fleet, the ravings of a reinvigorated force the symphony that gave voice to his heart's elation. She grinned at him painfully, he too stunned to do anything but murmur her name - her real name, her given name, the name nobody seemed to recognize - too quiet for anyone but her to hear. He pulled her to him, burying his face in her knotted locks, relishing the smell of his partner, his mate. She grimaced, fighting for breath - she needed medical attention and FAST - but molded herself to fit in his embrace just the same.

"This is Commander Shepard speaking," She pulled away from him, falling to the console with every last bit of energy she could muster. "And if I know anything about the Reapers, it's that we've got them gunning scared. So fire, fire with every last bit of artillery you can find, and give them hell!" she glanced up at Garrus, face unreadable. "You were born to do this. Shepard out."

She tapped the console's feed off, falling into Garrus's strong arms as gunfire began to ring out from all around them, dreadnoughts and destroyers and frigates and fighters pushing forward once more against the unknowable, unfathomable enemy, hope renewed and faith restorted by the gory sight of the one person who believed in each and every one of them to do the impossible.

"There's no Shepard without Vakarian, eh?" He managed, laughing.

"Yeah, yeah, big guy," She coughed. "Just get me to a doctor before I bleed out."

You should send this to Bioware writers. Totally should be included as one of the possible endings!

@ LucyMaire: Voted!  I admit though, even if the other romances were fixed, I doubt I can ever romance anyone else than Garrus.

A turian in Omega says he has a "mate"

This is just speculation, but it could depend on whether the partner's a turian or an asari. I remember some asari using the term "bondmate"

My Shepard would keep her surname. She's had it all her life, it's how most people refer to her, etc. Assuming they did anything like "get married" which I haven't yet decided if they would...

I imagine they have some kind of cultural thing which is roughly equivalent to what we humans know as "marriage" - it seems that most species in the ME universe do some sort of committment... thing. IF my Shep and Garrus did something like that, it would probably a) be a mix of human/turian cultural things and be very, very small and private, like immediate family and very close friends ONLY. No press.

As for settling down/having a family, I can see both sides. I think, though, even if my Shep and Garrus ended up with a house and kids, they'd still find themselves doing stuff like taking out merc bands, resolving hostage situations and generally solving all the problems in the galaxy because my Shep just can't say no when people ask for her help! And of course Garrus will always come along for the ride.

Anyway, just thought I'd pop in here and toot my own horn a bit, with some fanfiction I've been writing lately.

Same with my Zoë Shepard. Hell in the Javik DLC Earthborns admit to having grown up in a constant warzone enviroment. My poor Shep was always slightly jealous when her comrades talked about their familes too.

I don't know, it's something I think about constantly.. wasn't that part of the cut ending, a LI pulling Shepard out of the rubble? Going to have to write it some day, I'm sure it will be a popular premise for future fanfiction if it isn't already.

God I think it'd kill me watching my Shep die in Garrus' arms. It's bad enough saying goodbye. Watching Garrus realise he's going to be well and truly separated from Shep forever? I may never stop crying inside haha >_>
