Haha, oh man. If it's a one-for-one Virmire-type situation, then most of the time I'd say I'd have to go for Garrus, at least with my Sheps that are romancing him.

Two-four squadmates depends on the situation, I think. Also depends on which squadmates they are. ;) Though I don't think Garrus would be too happy with me sacrificing several other people just for him.

Ten civilians to a planet full of civilians, I'd most likely have to go for the civilians. Garrus would never forgive me for doing otherwise, I think. Again though, it also depends on the exact situation and circumstances. Except for the planet thing, there's almost no way I can ever justify saving one person at the expense of an entire planet.

As for choosing between my Shep and Garrus... well, that depends on if Garrus LETS me save him. ;) Again, situation and circumstance. I'd be heartbroken if he pulled an Alistair ala Dragon Age, but I'd understand him doing it.

And then I'd reload and make sure to do whatever I had to to keep Garrus alive. ;)

Eep, TotP! I dunno how many people saw this in the other thread, so here, have a pic! :D

Hello Garrus thread! I've been away for ages. Anything interesting came out of Comic Con? Anybody knows why P. Weeks has gone private on tweeter? I so miss his tweets.

@ Lady

 1) No. Garrus is still with Liara in all demos but nothing new
 2) I think he wanted time to work and not be disturbed. The exact explanation is on the tweeter tread not so far back.

@ Skits

I know Garrus would be mad if he gets saved instead of civilians but I would still do it for him and most of my squad. We work for the good of the galaxy but that doesnt mean we dont watch out for our own. It would be a strange teamwork spirit if the squaddies knew Shep would let them die to save 10 people when they are taking risks everyday under her command. I guess my Shep knows you cant win all the fights and must let things slip if you want to last long as a "spacehero". An entire planet/species would be different of course.

Somehow I think Garrus would do the same if he was the leader. Hed give his life before losing the men who trust him. All the guilt he has about Omega :crying:

Here is the poll I made for "Who would you save over Garrus" or "How many must die for Garrus to live?" ...

That's true. I suppose it depends on the situation, like I said, and also how -Garrus- reacts to it. This sort of thing is really hard to call when it's a hypothetical with no actual details, heh.

Yeah, I'd still save a whole planet though. Especially after Arrival - Shep already has the weight of 300,000 deaths on her conscience, I dunno if Shep would want another entire planet full there as well. XD

Then again, maybe that'd make Shep figure, "well, I'm -already- guilty of genocide for the good of the galaxy, what difference would this make?" Hm. That could actually make it easier for Shep to justify sacrificing a planet for a team mate. Food for thought.

As much as we all adore Garrus, I sense a strange absence of other turians around, and this doomed pair in particular, I do love dearly.

The first picture makes me feel a bit guilty for romancing Garrus, he and Shep are obviously never gonna be able to have kids, and I don't know how'd they decide between a turian or human baby. He'd make such a great dad...

I actually wrote a story about the "What If" Shepard got pregnant. I'm working on the rest of the series. I know it's impossible for it to happen but... what if the Lazerus Project somehow augmented her body enough to become suseptable to turian dna... hmmm...

Impossibilities

They could always adopt :) My Shep would totally adopt a little baby
hooman and a baby turian. And she'd marry Garrus- hell, she'd probably
be the one doing the asking xD

Now there's a thought- what would a
turian wedding be like? Do they even have weddings? How would Garrus
react to Shep asking him to marry her? DISCUSS.

I want a 'happily
ever after' epilogue for my Garrus and Shep. BABIES AND MARRIAGE.
SUPPORT EQUALITY. (My Shep is crazy and would likely have a whole home
full of alien adoptees. KROGAN BABY.)

There are a couple of ways they could go about it

*Adoption
*Bio-children, they could get a Turian surrogate to carry a baby that Garrus was the bio father of or Shepard could get pregnant via donor or they could have two children this way, one Turian who Garrus was the father of and one human who Shep was the mother of
*Bio-children by genetic engineering
  -Mordin helps
-Someone (Cerburus) manages to get hold of their DNA and creates a Turian/human hybrid baby (I so didn't steal that idea from Enterprise, honestly). I could see Cerburus using a baby as collerateral to make Shep cooperate with them

As far as hybrid babies go, I could possibly see something going wrong, just because a child could be created might not necessarily mean that it will be healthy. Could it be carried to term? Would it survive birth? (The Vulcan/human baby in Enterprise ended up dying)

I'm all for *hybrid babies, but I'd like to see angtsy stories as well as happy ones (I seem to give Repton, Starling, Stork and Piper a hard time in my Storm Hawks fanfics), fics where life doesn't end up happily ever after for Shep and Garrus

*As long as they don't turn out like the dronkeys in Shrek, those things were hideous

Ngh, hybrid babies. I got no problem with people who like the idea - to each their own and all that - but I personally find the idea itself... very not cool. Apart from the whole scientific nigh-impossibility of it and the difficulties of getting it to work in general... it just seems like such a selfish thing to do, to me. Sure, it might seem like a sweet and loving thing to do... for the parents, but what about the kid (or kids) themselves? They're going to be the only ones in existence.

Sure, there's probably other turian/human couples out there, but I highly doubt they'd have the contacts or funding to pull off something so difficult as well, so any Shep/Garrus kids are going to be unique in the universe. They'll be labelled as freaks, mutants, abominations, whatever other labels intolerant or ignorant people can come up with. People can be cruel, even when they don't mean to be. They'll probably not only have social difficulties, but also physical difficulties as well. There's no guarantee they'll be healthy, and even if they are, they're still going to need unique medical treatment for any accidents or injuries or illnesses they have.

So yeah, I figure if Shep/Garrus must show their TWU LUV for each other via offspring... adoption or surrogacy would be infinitely better, IMO. Especially adoption, since that'll also be helping some poor kid who already exists and needs the support.

Just my two cents, heh. Sorry for the wall'o'text.

The baby talk again? I'll talk about the babies again.

I can only speak for my own Shepard, of course, so here it is: she has no active interest in rearing children. Not only does she have no idea how to raise a kid, but she feels like she can't have a conflict of interests - split between her child and her duties as a soldier. With Garrus and her other squadmates that's never a problem, because they're all soldiers as well, but throwing your kid into combat situations isn't the definition of good parenting. For the most part, my Shep is ignoring the tick of her biological clock.

On the other hand, there is one scenario I can think of that would encourage her to take up the mantle of motherhood: the opportunity to offer a better life to a child who's lost it all. She's an Earthborn, and knows what the orphaned life is like, as well as how short it is. There are many things worse in life than living on a ship with parents who can't always be around, and at least that way, if she or Garrus is KIA, the kid still has somewhere to belong.

[spoilers for the ME3 demo]
Of course...given how ME3 is going to go, I have a feeling that this scenario has a pretty big chance of happening. Prime example is that kid in the vent in ME3's demo; my Shep's heart would have gone out to him the moment she saw him. It wouldn't have taken long at all for someone like that to wrangle himself a larger place in her life.

I'd really like one of the hybrid-baby supporters to answer one question for me: why?

Not asking about children in general; but why hybrid? What can possibly make the notion attractive? I just don't understand.

oh this thing again. mrph. oh well. not gonna actually get involved this time.

just want to say that I adore the idea of Garrus being a father. Truly i do. But .... not of a hybrid. I can honestly see Shep and Garrus adopting some poor kid that needs a home. Specially orphan style Shep. ya know?

Also... that picture? is pure win. pure effing win. :D

Ditto on both parts. He's so smug he's actually smirking XP He KNOWS how fangirls love him. The way the pic is portrayed makes it seem that Garrus sees his calibrations as a turn on for women so he's doing it all sexy-like. I look at this pic and think that Old Spice line : "Hello Ladies....." LOL!

Everything Obsy said. I stand firmly on the "Against hybrid babies - Pro Adoption" side. I want to see Garrus as a father of course. He'd be a great daddy. BUT ugh - hybrid babies. *shudder*

And apparently a NEW artwork on DA agrees X3

I mentioned it in the post along with hybrid babies/adoption. As far as the hybrid babies thing, I'm not interested in a happy ever after thing, I was more interested in the implications of it, what could go wrong? (Health problems, not carrying to term, health risks to femShep)

Speaking of hybrid babies, does anyone have any idea what's up with Shepard's outfit in this pic? Warning NSFW and also quite WTF in regards to her clothes (and her arm) - http://idlehq.devian...825100#/d39ns2e

Speaking of hybrid babies, they're impossible and will never happen. Unless you add reaper tech for instant child monstrosity with a taste for death and mass murder in the name of cosmic cyber-cthulhuids.

Seriously, it's not even worth pondering. Hybrid babies would break Mass Effect's established lore on biological barriers and biology itself. Just... drop it, deal with it and move on, please?
