My understanding is if you go on your citadel date with Garrus and agree to be a "One Turian Woman", that the Kaidan and Liara romances are immediately cut off and no longer available. So unless i'm mistaken, just have your date with Garrus before meeting with Kaidan and Liara in the commons and there is no chance of a ninjamance.

^this works

@ Sable  Kaidan can totally be professional in ME3. Id go as far as saying if he isnt, its probably because the player didnt make it clear right from the start or acted less then professional themself. All I would have wished for is a payoff for regaining the VS trust.

This.  It's funny; I went from meh on Kaidan in ME1 to ok in ME2 to really liking him in ME3.  It also helps that now I know my way around the ME1 ninjamance so he never so much as looks at my Shep sideways.  They're just friends, and he's a damn good one.

Thats one thing thats great with never romancing him inthe first place. Even if there's a lack of dialogue, you can jsut see him as a charming and shy guy and hope one day he finds a good wife. But I you did romance him during ME1, like I did in my canon, things are way more mushy and you need a good headcanon to believe the 2 of you had the chance to say the things you wanted to say. He always feels like he would have wanted more so it makes it hard to have him around. Also, since he does nothing on the Normany anyway, I sent him back to Hackett.

What my Shep liked Kaidan for (and I guess I liked him for, as a player) were those supportive 'moral compass' talks we had in ME1. I remember when Ashley embodied the renegade side and Kaidan the paragon side. Garrus was the 'alien' who needed Shep to mentor him... the good old days :P

Now in ME3, its clear that Garrus stole everything. He got his own moral compass, he gives you tons of support, gets lots of screen time and has a solid romance arc. Its almost  a bit unfair to other characters

Reminds me of how guilty i start feeling after a while with squad selection... I take garrus with me on *every* mission, and i usually end up at the selection screen trying to figure out who i haven't taken with me lately for 3rd spot.

I just imagine the other squad mates "Oh what a suprise! Garrus is suiting up!"

Don't forget, he's also the most useful teammate in a battle. My Adept Shep lacks reach (heh) and Overload. Garrus has both

Garrus is pretty cool guy. Eh snipes bad dudes and doesn't afraid of anything.

In fairness, though, my turian takes rockets to the face all the time in multiplayer. He doesn't think it's a big deal.
Lastly, HAAAAAAY-AAAAAY

I agree. I wonder if it's because the Garrus-romance didn't get that far in ME2. Half of the romance in ME2 was Garrus getting used to the idea that yeah, he and Shepard could work and it could be a very good thing. It felt like he finally accepted it at the very end during the ‘romance/head-butt’ scene which was like 'small time' compared to some of the other romances where there was an obvious attraction in the very beginning.

Now, I like that the relationship progressed that way, because in my headcannon, things would have progressed slower with him anyway.

Yeah it is quite unfair. But I'm not complaining. I am fortunate to be a fan of the perhaps most popular, and therefore he get a lot of screen time, character in the ME world.

Yeah, they've basically written Garrus as Shepard's bestest friend, regardless of how Shepard is, him/herself.

In a way, it really isn't fair to some of the other characters, especially the VS and Vega, but at the same time, if the story's progressed to that point, Garrus has been there pretty much the entire time for every single game, and he's had your back the whole time. It's not that he doesn't have anywhere else to be, so much as that there's no where else he'd rather be. Shepard does a lot of important stuff, and while everything Shep does gets mired down in politics and events, if you have the insider view (like Garrus does), the other stuff Garrus and pretty much everyone else has been doing (with the exception of Liara) can seem kinda 'small-time'.

It's a shame many of the other relationships suffer under Garrus' shadow, but he really is the Goose to your Maverick- the ultimate wingman. Maybe that's why he ended up looking sort of like a bird.

I think the friendship is part of what makes Garrus' romance progression seem so natural. It's a slow burn sort of thing.

I like that Garrus has gone from Shepards fanboy to his/her equal. If things had been a little different it could have been Garrus saving the galaxy with his wingman Shepard.

In ME3 if romanced he's basically her rock. Replaying ME1 right now, and it's funny to see him agreeing to my every word even though I constantly disagree with him

Garrus' fanboy stage is so freakin' adorable. I just wanted to jump and huggle him every time we spoke. Then in ME2 I saw him sniping people left and right, and being his own man. I thought: "...Damn. Now I want to jump you for an entirely different reason." I thought it was a little weird at first for my Shepard to go after her former student, I suppose. But after thinking about it and replaying, I thought: "Wow...these two...are perfect for each other. Garrus is her equal, he is her rock and vice-versa. They learn from each other every day, support each other, and quietly worry even though they know the other can take care of themselves. Best. Love story. Ever."

The romance jsut couldnt have been as good if started in ME1. Sure we could have 'tapped' that. But things get real starting in ME2. And they only keep getting better in ME3 !

Agreed, the best thing about the Garrus romance was that it didn't start in the first game. It's not the typical "meet the girl, fall in love within five minutes". It has a solid foundation of friendship, but most importantly, respect and trust. And that shows so beautifully in ME3. They don't behave like two teenagers staring at each other all day, holding hands and constantly professing their love. They're partners. And it works so well.

The Garrus romance is awesome because he was never meant to be romancable in the first place. We got to appreciate him as a character, *then* to romance him. Best Bioware romance to date.

I don't know if anyone else had a similar experience...

But my very first play through of ME2 was with femshep romancing Garrus... and I actually got a little freaked out by the constant:
"I'll need to try to figure out how to do this"
"I'll need to do some more research into whether this is even possible"
Plus Mordin's warnings i was really wanting a dialogue option of "Ok what the hell am i getting into here, seriously what do you have down there!?" It was like he needed to draft a logistical plan of attack, which in hindsight he might have done ANYWAYS...

I was kinda chuckling with one eyebrow raised through a lot of the romance dialogue in ME2, but it was still really well done and needless to say, shepard survived! Love him to death of course... but the first time did freak me out a little :P

That was me when I first went through dialogue. I kinda wondered if this was gonna be mission impossible or something

During the entire romance I kept repeating: "... how is that even possible." I was grinning, though. And laughing.

In 1, Garrus and Tali were literally the only ones who escaped the ship, except Wrex for his 'loyalty mission.'

I didn't plan it, but it was a LOT easier to manage inventory for 3 characters who I liked then everyone. And they could fix the Mako! In 2, my rotation's usually a bit broader.... Sometimes. Even in 2, Garrus has so much spoiling in the way of good lines that it's hard NOT to take him.

Same here. I kept hoping and telling myself 'they are made for each other and they need each other so much... he cant go back on his initial positive reaction!'

I remember how the old guard was afraid ME3 could possibly make Garrus not be able to handle the interspecie aspect. All the trolling about Garrus not loving FemShep (saddly it did put in a big wedge with the VS fanbase, who was left out cold).

Think back on it... wow did we get served B)
