Nice find obsy ^_0 .Thought this would be an interesting topic.  What are the most annoying misconceptions about turians/Garrus that you’ve heard or read? Here’s mine
 
1.       That Shepard being with Garrus means she’ll automatically get anaphylactic shock even though Mordin SAYS it’s only “possible”. Also that being with Garrus could “kill” Shepard or that it’s very “dangerous” even when Mordin says no such thing .People say this because of the way Garrus LOOKS rather than basing it on actual information given in the game.   Shepard can actually kill Tali, very easily but Garrus looks scary so yeah he’s way more dangerous.
 
2.       That female turians are officially bald just because dark horse drew THEIR concept of what they think they look like. I’m sure Garrus still can’t fly and dual wield so I wouldn’t take the bald thing too seriously.
 
3.       That Turians have very “alien” bits when we see a turian use a urinal, “popping heat sinks” , “don’t ingest”, what that turian says to the asari stripper in samara’s mission  and Weekes has officially said that turians have live births.  I don’t get why Garrus gets accused of having weird body parts yet thane , tali and liara never get  it nearly as much,  for all we know drell are like male seahorses XD,
 
4.        This is my biggest gripe;
 
“Garrus said that he can’t tell humans apart/ only likes shepard’s personality/ etc”
 
Basically people saying Garrus has said things when he never has.  Then these made up quotes are taken as fact when he never actually says the quotes himself. I see it everywhere, for example;
 
What some fans say: “He says that he sleeps with Shepard/ is with her only out of respect”

What Garrus actually says: “There’s no one I respect more than you”

 
Shepard is the person he respects most , not that it is the ONLY thing that the relationship is based on or that its the ONLY motivation he has. 

 
What some fans say: "Turians/Garrus can’t tell the difference between male and female humans"


He does not say this EVER , neither does any turian in both games.

 
What some fans say:  "He’s says he’s not even attracted to humans/femshep at all!!!"

What Garrus actually says: “It’s not like I have a fetish for humans”


Meaning he’s he doesn’t have a weird kink for humans, notice he doesn’t say attraction in there. And;


What Garrus actually says : “I’ve never considered cross species intercourse”

He’s never thought about it, that’s all he says

Well Hyrule_Gal, I do have to say that on my last playthough, I was playing a renegade who treats all the dudes crappily. So I flirted with Jacob, got into a 'relationship' with him, then dumped him for Garrus. Then I got into a 'relationship' with Garrus and dumped him for Thane. And I was very disappointed at how easily Garrus took my rejection. Sigh. Maybe he is just hiding how he really feels, he does do that a lot.

I wasn't planning on taking this evil character to ME3 with me (definitely not a cannon run), but I wonder if they would do anything with that kind of infidelity in 3. like if Garrus would be accusatory with you about it, or bitter or anything.

I also like to think that there were scenes of Shepard and Garrus in the Mako, but that Bioware had to edit them out for 'adult content.'

Garrus.  There's only so much specialization that one can do, and Thane seems to have focused more on close-up wetwork.  Garrus also has his iPiece.

oh yeah! Totally, that one annoys me too. He DOES voice his opinion if he disagrees with something but ultimately he respects shepard’s opinion as a commander and as his friend, that's not being whipped. I mean look at zaeed, he was willing to blow up a factory of innocents and then turn on shepard when she ordered him to save them. Oh, but professionalism MUST mean he's got no spine, Gal, don't you know?  I mean, hell, all he ever does is listen respectfully and occasionally voice a protest!  Just because he's OK with whatever the outcome of the Sidonis mission... he's obviously whipped!  


ETA:  LOL, sorry, was that over the top?  I can never tell.  But yeah, suffice it to say, it irks me no end.

Its funny how you guys are talking about Garrus standing up as i jsut started a new Shepard from scratch last night to do a very anti-alien / pro Cerberus ME1+ME2 playthrough.

I hope to see how Garrus will react in ME3 to a Shepard who has been selfish and worked for human dominance all along.

Hopefully Bio wont let us down and Garrus will stand up to Shepard, leave the team and even become a Spectre on his own. Then Garrus will chase that Shepard (after he became head of Cerberus by shooting TIM in the back) and bring justice upon him for betraying his trust and the Citadel.

A girl can dream, no?

Garrus cared about his family so much that he anonymously sent a large donation in order to help his mum get better. He never even told anyone that he had done this. Now THAT is true altruism. Garrus is certainly one of the most altruistic and selfless character (just under very paragon Shepards). He does what he does because he believes its the right thing, no for some personal reward or hidden motive. But i hope hes not helping his mother out of pure altruism. I mean i hope he does it cause he loves her not jsut cause 'its the right thing to do'.

It would certainly be hypocrit of Shepard to think Garrus neglects his personal life when he/she dont have time to go fix things with the VS or see how their mother are doing for those with the spacer background. Many players (and the game itself) value the ability of 'making the hard choices'. I think Garrus goes behind that by giving all his time to 'fighting the good fight' AND managing to try to save his mother. Its not like he has a big organisation behind him to help out like Miranda who has cerberus to relocate and keep an eye on her sister. Garrus probably missed just as many family birthdays as anyone on the Normandy.

I also dislike when people say Garrus is obsessed by revenge when he is in fact obsessed by absolution. He wants to be free of the guilt of losing his man. Thats why the outcome of his SM is so different from Zaeed's. But he is pretty obsessed about it. I guess its the flip side of being so devoted.

There is no reason for people to like Shepard whatever he/she does. For example I would welcome it if some potential sguadmates like Miranda wouldn't join a anti Cerberus Shepard. So you have to choose between, for example, Garrus and Tali or Miranda and Jacob. Those big decisions the game was marketed with you know?
