ME3 has enough suck without the romance adding to it.  I swear, 90% of my FemHawke's problems in DA2 were because of the boys.  

In suck related news, I've just gotten to Thessia, and I can't bring myself to play it, since I know the game is just about nothing but grimdarkassonhat from here on out.  So I am attempting a Vanguard in multiplayer; I am hilariously bad.

I've played DA2 about 7 times, the problem with the Fenris rivalmance is that the romance dialogue is exactly the same as the friendship romance with only a couple of little changes, the Isabella rivalry romance suffers from the same problem while the Merril and Anders rivalmances are very different from the friendship romances. I think it's because of time constraints, they didn't have time to give Fenris and Isabella a proper rivalmance because of the 18 month development and the fact that they are optional characters while Merril and Anders were given a complete rivalmance because they aren't optional characters.

I do agree with you about the lack of drama being the reason Garrus is biowares best romance option, disagree with you about the tatoo's though, I personally find the idea of femshep applying them kind of creepy.

Also Varric, is the best bro character (cause Garrus is a LI. If not, it would be hard to decide which). The 2 male LIs were into so much angst, it made them quite inattractive.

Sky was the romance. He was fine and had a nice VA, but as you said, he was pretty forgettable. He was certainly no Sagacius Zu.

And don't get me wrong, I love Fenris. He's my favorite LI after Garrus and a pretty close second. I find him ridiculously hot in many ways. But Varric and Carver I'd probably consider equally attractive as Fenris, and they did it without even breaking a sweat. And in Carver's case, it seems like making him hot would be almost contrary to his purpose, but... Yeah. If it was my Warden in Kirkwall instead, I would have so tapped that.

Non-LI males have their own stuff going on that clearly wasn't written just to get me hot and bothered. It makes them seem more real. Plus the added bonus of that aloof, disinterested attitude that makes me want them more.

This.  100% this.  Garrus was such a nice breath of fresh air.

Though I will say that the guys in the Old Republic that I've romanced (Vector and Torian) have been nice and reasonable and stuff.

I love that Garrus and Tali -mostly Garrus- are friends before lovers. It felt so nice instead of a "we just met and we're in love". it figures the relationship with awesome dinosaur of love is the most realistic one.

Any word on a patch for the flashback scene yet? I am avoiding finishing my playthrough till it's patched.

Yeah. I never grasped exactly what started happening after Thessia, and I didn't realize it before, but yeah- the game starts to suck.

And it's not your fault you're bad at vanguard. Everyone is bad at vanguard because you're basically rolling the dice every single time you hit a button on your keyboard/controller.

In summary, I still find Ashley slightly xenophobic. DA2s craziest LI for me was Anders, and I am a Fenris fangirl after taking some time to get to know his character better.

I need Garrus to snipe my appendix as its likely going to have to come out. Gah.
