Though it made me realize that I miss fanfiction more than I thought. Strange combination from lag, pop-ups and probably infected advertising on that side made me stop visiting that nice corner of the internet, since I know better ways to spend my free time than scrubbing my computer from a nasty virus. Twice. Any chance "Loved" will be uploaded somewhere else as well?
Anyway, I'll join the "Hopefully Bioware's additional ending saves Mass Effect for me" group. Let's hope the best.

Uh, well... I don't really know where else to put it. Deviant Art doesn't do chapters easily and Archive Of Our Own is just as iffy, security-wise...

Eh, sorry, didn't mean to cause you trouble. If I'll actually manage to get a Linux system working (i.e. if I have the time to *really* try it), I'll dare to visit the page again
Edit: Though I was kind of wondering... I use a pretty standard Windows XP system with a regularly-updated free virus scanner. Never had any problems with malware, used fanfiction for a couple of months without problems, too... and then the aforementioned problems, twice within one or two months. Always on fanfiction.net, always directly after a lag and pop-up advertisement combination. Since I got the impression that very many poster around here use that side without any problems: Do all of you use some fancy extra protection software, add-blocks or alternative systems like the aforementioned Linux, or did I just have a really nasty case of bad luck back then?
Edit^2: Firefox-user, and generally quite satisfied with that browser.

Aah, let's keep hoping and loving Garrus. I find it amazing that this thread manages to keep its cool at all times.

I am firmly in the "wait and see" camp, which I've been in since the day I finished the game. BioWare gets points for free and for acknowledging that there are problems, but loses points for the "artistic integrity" bull. So they're still at a net zero until I see what we actually get.

If you're using firefox, you should always have AdBlockPlus installed.
I haven't seen an ad in years.
Edit: Though you've also been unlucky. 99% of ads have no malware in them.

God I hate the artistic integrity argument so much. If it were just a few hundred people who had a problem with the ending I could sort of support the argument since you could just put it down to different tastes etc, but when you’ve got thousands of people from all corners of the globe saying the endings complete BS you’ve got a problem and it’s not one that can simply be explained away as differences in taste or opinion, and you definitely can’t use the artistic integrity argument to defend it.
In my books the second you say ‘No I’m not changing anything, even if it could improve my work, because it would ruin my artistic integrity’ you lose all right to call yourself an artist, a true artist never stops trying to improve their work and I get the feeling here that the writers at BW have seen the outcry on the forums and just thrown a hissy fit saying’ The end is amazing, they’re just all blind and can’t see the brilliance of it! I won’t change and you can’t make me!’
Sorry for the rant, been lurking in the discussion forum and now I’m all worked up over the endings again.
Anyone got any fluffy Garrus fic’s to share or anything else that can take away this bitter taste in my mouth?

I know I haven't been around much, but here's a discussion topic for you--in Garrus's 'thank you' conversation in ME1, he has an odd line where he starts to say something and cuts himself off (see 4:15 ish). There's just something weird about the placement of that 'I'm, uh...thanks, commander', not to mention that he's repeating himself. And it is a conditional line, I had to sift through two or three different videos of that convo to find it. The first time I heard it I called up the friend I borrowed the game from and asked him if I'd missed some way to romance the raptor guy.
What the hell was he going to say?
I had that line in my last playthrough because Lexane is too damn bipolar to decide whether she's a renegade or a paragon and acts accordingly so. Garrus says that because Shep didn't pick enough paragon or renegade dialogue option to "paragon" or "renegade" him. In short, he's still confused about who he is and just wants to thank her for bringing him along, instead of deciding that he wants to return to C-Sec or that he wants to apply for Spectre training.

He ALWAYS says that though. Doesn't matter what your alignment is. For some... that stutter was enough to headcanon a burgeoning attraction for their Shepard from the very beginning.

Yep, the artistic integrity argument makes me cringe. It's the ultimate "you don't understand" argument, and it insults people's intelligence. I understand that Bioware wants to stick to what they feel is the ending of ME (although I strongly disagree with them) but to use those words make them appear like beginners in writing who whine the second people criticize their work.
Sorry, no fic that hasn't already been mentioned somewhere in the thread. Sia's fic is pure win, but you already probably checked it out.

Really? I had the C-sec conversation with my super-Paragon Jane. No stutter, at least not that I can remember.
I don't headcanon him falling for her either. I think he becomes attracted to her in ME2, once she opens his eyes with the infamous yet atrocious "reach and flexibility" line.

Meghan and Avery always Paragon him. (Only real difference is Meghan appreciates the shot to the merc's head in the clinic, Avery (Kaidan girl, straight paragon.) They both get that stutter.
