So, for those who don't know already, guess who is being involved in the extended cut dlc? John Dombrow, the writer responsible for Garrus in ME3…hellz yeah.

Where did you find this out?  This gives me more reason to be excited about the extended cut DLC. I know everyone is a little on edge about the closure we have been promised, and not without good reason (the last month has sucked).  But I'm glad that they have promised to do something about it.  I don't need to have a completely new ending... I'd just like one that provides closure and that makes me feel good about finishing the game.

That being said... one of the things I hope to see the most is a reunion with my Shapard and Garrus.  He deserves a happy ending.

It was stated somewhere during the PAX panel. Here's an unofficial transcript mentioning that "both Weekes and Dombrow will be involved in writing it."

For now, I'm optimistic (but cautious) seeing how Weekes and Dombrow wrote some of the best arcs in the series (Garrus included!).

That is good news thank you to you both for sharing. I agree that the arcs were well written, and it helps me to be optimistic too.  Looking at what they already have given us, I know that they can give us something great in the extended DLC!  I just don't want to set my hopes too high just yet (like I did before ME3 came out ).  Here is to hoping, and the encouragement of the writers in their next challenge.

So I saw this tweet from Chris Priestly today:

"Calibrating weapons was just a euphemism, right?" "Yep" CONFIRMED! @masseffect #ME3 #PAXEast"

Not sure if it was already discussed here or not but here it is again, just in case.

*waves pompoms*

Yay for Weekes and Dombrow!  I am now cautiously optimistic about the ending DLC.  I like them that much as writers.  For me, the most emotional sections of Mass Effect as a franchise were the Overlord DLC and the Tuchanka arc.  WINSAUCE.

Just got to the final goodbye with everyone in London, and I can't keep playing. I know that ending DLC is coming, and I'll wait for it rather than go through the ending as is ever again.

I still cry when I talk to Garrus.

Thats why I haven't touched it for my second playthrough. Really want to experience the Garrus romance again but ther's no way I'm playing if I can't have a semi-happy ending.

Even if the DLC has a cinematic of Shep and Garrus reuniting, it would be enough for me.

Same here.  I was initially set on having my Shep and Garrus go out in a blaze of glory rather than have to deal with the craptacular ending, but now with the ending DLC and the possibility of them reuniting...I want them to get married and grow old together and adopt adorable babies.  I want it so much :crying:

I have one fic to recommend, it's not ShepardxGarrus but Garrus is the main character (and Sgepard is at least female):

http://www.fanfictio...ect_Interregnum

It focuses on his time in omega and is by far my favorite Mass Effect fanfic, all of his team are given distinct and interesting personalities and their interactions with each other are hilarious. The author takes a lot of time to actually set up the reason the team starts off in the first place, it is very well done and I highly advise everyone to at least check it out. My pathetic little paragraph does not give it a good enough explanation.

This. The writing style, the fact that Garrus is IC and the setting... always wondered about his time on Omega. Thanks for the good recommendation. ^_^

Loved is my personal favorite long-form fic for FemShep/Garrus, and Timeless to Me is my favorite shorter one.

Huh. I was starting to wonder why Loved never crossed my screen, so to speak - but since it is sorted as "Shepard (F)" only, I suppose that's the reason I missed it. Thanks for the tip :)

Still, picking an all-time favourite fic is difficult. I'd probably choose Where Angels Fere To Tread / Closer To Home, right up to the zoo discussion, as long-form fic. May replace it with Sound the Clarion, though, depends on how that one turns out. Shorter ones: Don't really know, there are a number of nice ones out there. There was one older fiction I really liked, though I managed to forget the name. Main plot was something along the lines of Samara's loyalty mission, followed by an absolutely adorable scene where Shepard asked Jack for some advice regarding a certain turian friend.

Anyway, about the coming DLC: Hoping the best, trying not to get too excited, preparing for another disappointment. But the choice of writers is certainly a good / hopeful sign.

Happy Easter!

Im going to try to keep my hopes low. I had my hopes up really high for ME 3..... look how that turned up... Its not the ending really but the fact that so many corners were cut and that they could have used so much more time. No turian females? Fine. Cant see Garrus' family? .....okay.... No Palaven?......FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Id rather they let them die in a blaze of glory then give explanation about the ridiculous planet crash and how Garrus manages to go on in his life without Shepard

As much as I want a happy ending, this would be a terrific option as well.

Uh, hey. Lurker reporting in. Basically I usually just lurk everywhere but the forum scares the everliving daylight out of me right now and people here seem to be less keen on getting into huge flamewars.

So yeah basically I'm a Garrus fan. Nothing too surprising there. Also unhappy with the endings of ME3, no surprise there either. But that subject is not really why I decided to rear my ugly head in here as much as I'd like to tear out my hair over it.

I really enjoyed how they handled the Garrus romance in ME3 even though I had to facepalm a bit at the babieessss at the end.

One thing though... I sort of came in here to ask about how you people made sense of something that surprised me a bit. I sincerely hope that 'spoilers' like this are okay by now? I'll just try and... Mark it.

//Spoilerish//

So when you have your first chat with Garrus onboard the Normandy you can basically lay out your heart for him and then give him bedroom eyes.

When you go on the Citadel date, he has his line about 'wanting to do something special before he dies' and Shepard gives him the 'I've woken up with a turian next to me' response. This clearly points towards them having shared some private time before this during ME3 seeing as I doubt they did any sleeping in ME2 during the two hours they had before the Omega Relay.

However, when it comes to heartfelt conversation and confessions time, Garrus cracks a line about Shepard having 'needed some time to sort things out' etc.

The more I ponder that bit, the more odd it seems. Garrus honey, my Shepard gave you the go-ahead the moment you boarded the Normandy again. She would have done that on the moon if you'd asked. What is this sorting things out you speak of?

How'd you folks make sense of this? I'm honestly not slamming the romance in any way - I was squealing like a little teenager through the entire thing - I'm just wondering if there is a easy way to make sense of this and I haven't thought of it yet.

//End spoiler//

So. Uh. Hi :D

Im just afraid that they might not go far enough with the rewrite. If they jsut 'explain' how things happen, then there will not be a happy ending, there will jsut be a 'detailed bad ending'. If I need to be separated from Garrus, I do not want to learn how he hooked up with Tali or died starving.

I dunno, it would be like punishing everyone who didnt take the Destroy ending.

How about a combined turian-human genetic for the synthetic ending or a combined turian-human mind for the control ending? Maybe im speculating too much.

So. Uh. Hi :D

Welcome fellow Garrus fan!

We suspect that this line is inthere becasue many players have had a initial romance in ME1 and it accounts for Garrus giving you time to make things clear with the ME1 LI. Of course, it makes no sense for the Shepards who saved themselves for Garrus until ME2. But since its a very small portion of players, the writers might not have took it into consideration.

In other words, they needed a reason to make Garrus ask Shep if they were 'really together' (mandatory player choice moment) and they figured it would be easier to tack it on that way.

Hey DiabolicReality! Always nice to see new people. As for your question, I assumed that Garrus' line about figuring them out was more about committing to each other, making their relationship official, rather than just sleeping together. I dunno, that's how I saw it anyways.

Outmane: I'm afraid of that too, but Bioware is not stupid and both Weekes and Dombrow are working on the rewrite, which makes me a little too much optimistic. Bioware knows that merely "explaining" the ending would only infuriate us more. They screwed up the ending and they know it, hence the free DLC. Plus Gamble said that it wouldn't only be additional cinematics. Hopefully there will be some more gameplay.

Edit: On absolutely completely unrelated news, I just got a message from Miranda on the datapad app. Just "Good luck". That is so her. Ugh, I miss her as a squadmate.

These are the things I'm worried about. The ending is pretty open to interpretation. I'm worried it'll get explained to such a point, too. I don't want to learn about Garrus hooking up with Tali or starving. At that point I wouldn't even care why they crash landed on some random planet, either, no matter how much it frustrates me that they ran away.

It would be okay if the DLC showed people making new relays or something, though. Or there were a mission or two about re-finding everyone and the Normandy. Like, if they showed it was possible to reconnect and repair the galaxy, even after the original ending, I'd be pretty happy.

I would certainly sleep better at night knowing I havent been forced into genociding the whole MEverse, so to speak.
