Originally I was really squick about it. Really squick. Even reading the smut fanfic freaked me out because in my own head I had never gone that far with the characters.
I still do get a bit weirded out by a lot of fanart with G + Shep in the throes of passion because I'm still amazed at the extent to which people have gratuitously sexualised them. In my head their love really developed out of an extraordinary sense of respect, devotion and understanding of the other person. I have no problem that people have been able to take that physical leap and commit it to paper/the internet, but for me, the sex aspect is not something I actively seek out. Occasionally I will allow my curiosity to have its way because hey, two consenting adults blah blah blah and I would be lying if I said I've never really wondered how it would work and hey, the game pretty much states that they do get it on. Given the choice though, I would much rather look at a headbump than bedhump.
Then sometimes you get amazing work like that of reginaprimata and WarlordFil who manage to combine the devotion, respect, understanding and sexy times into one neat package. When I'm reading the comic the thing that jumps out at me most is the way their interactions frame their relationship at that point in time - their connection, their uncertainty, fear, hope, longing - that's the rewarding part for me. The "roll in the cabin" is just the background noise.

WarlordFil's a fanfic writer who has written the length of the relationship - smut gamut.
Her G + Shep relationship shines in Where Angels Fear to Tread and Closer to Home series, with fairly tame innuendo.
Her super smutfic shines in her "Like You and Me" series (with small but solid relationship nods): Enemies, Allies, Lost and Partners.
And she did one really sharp character fic of Garrus, Man of Dust, which I've always remembered because of how viciously clear she made the conflict in his character seem. In game I always knew that Garrus was divided and troubled, but the final chapter in this story really brought it home in a way that made his loyalty mission in ME2, and his character, so much more substantial for me.

How about making the rock our favourite turian is hiding behind a bit darker to make a contrast against the lighter background. It would also make the impression of a hiding Vakarian better.Dalekjon wrote...
It's a work in progress, the face is mostly done, still have to tweak the lighting and then smooth out and tighten the colors, as for the brightness, I was going for a daytime fight on a harsh, oppressive, sunny day, I get to mess around with the his metallic "scales" as for the background, those are indeed cannibals, munching on a dead something (probably human)
It all looks very good though, I would be thankfull if you want to share the finished artwork with us when it's done.

This is exactly half the reason I love reginaprimata's comic. She is so true to the characters circa-ME2 that it blows my mind. It has ascended from fanfiction to head canon.
The other half of it is that I love sex and all of its representations.
Combine them both, and to me I get something that is greater than the sum of its parts.

No, I completely agree with you regarding their relationship and the physical aspect of it. I'm just really shy when it comes to the juicy bits of any kind of erotica. Sometimes I enjoy it immensely, but I usually get uncomfortable fast. I dunno why... maybe I'm still innocent after allRogueMumei wrote...
You're so articulate! You make me want to... attempt expressing myself.
I definitely understand where you two are coming from. I feel the same way about the importance and neccessity of their feelings, bond, and respect. But for me, the physical aspect is just another way of expressing that deep emotion. If it was just about pleasure, I wouldn't be very interested in it. That's the difference between porn and erotica. It's because I know they have such a strong attatchment to each other that makes me want to read it. Because to me, that means that what they do around/for/to each other means something. Their movements and actions during their "roll" are different messages- 'I love you', 'I care about you', 'I don't care if your body is alien, I just want you to stay in my life'. You know, among other things.
Ew, I'm so corny. I should probably just go back to lurking...
So yeah, I'm afraid that it's not just curiosity for me lol. I'm pretty sure that because we're dealing with an alien here, I'd be the weird one out lol!Might also be a culture thing. The media's been telling me for years that aparently we black people are just a bunch of freaks lol
Lol don't pay attention to the media. They say a lot of silly things.

LOL, I feel like such a deviant. My first introduction to erotica was through the Harry Potter fandom at the tender age of 13. Once you see certain things (initially by accident), they're very hard to unsee. Remus/Sirius smut FTW
That being said, I didn't start actually writing the smut until about seven years later. Figured I'd wait until I'd actually had sex before writing about it.

Wow now I really feel innocent. I got introduced to smut filled stories as late as 17.
This might be quite a personal question but how old are you people? It's interesting as I really don't expect people older than myself really to play games or squee over fictional characters.

I'm also going to say that while I do like the smut *wicked grin* the thought of anyone knowing i do, *hide under blanket!* And everyone had a right to like/ not like anything and do/ not do anything. I love this series and the room it gives for head cannon. It's a shame that we need to get to head cannon so much and so quickly to deal with the ending but hope that this gets fixed soon.
But I love reading about everyone elses Shepard's and seeing whats like my shep and whats different.
Edit - I'm 23.

Just turned 23 a few weeks ago. Though I've found that there's a wider range of ages than I expected among BioWare's gamers.
EDIT for TOP: Still my personal favorite fanart.
