This might be quite a personal question but how old are you people? It's interesting as I really don't expect people older than myself really to play games or squee over fictional characters.

Just turned 23 a few weeks ago.  Though I've found that there's a wider range of ages than I expected among BioWare's gamers.

EDIT for TOP:  Still my personal favorite fanart.

*snip pic*

Late congrats for that!:)
I've noticed that too, never thought so many older people would be so interested in video games. As for example, no one in my family shares the same interest to games as I do, expect for the little kids.
No offence meant againts older people! I stop using that word...

I'll be 21 in almost exactly two months and will be carded till I'm 50. Without makeup I look 13-15 and with 16-17. Doesn't help that I'm short (5'1"). Woe is me. Anyway, it is nice to see such a wide array of people play games. They are incredibly fun, especially with Garrus and Turians involved. xD

I feel your pain.  I've never NOT been carded.  Even in Europe, where the drinking age was 18 :pinched:

Oh I got that same problem too. People have thought I'm still a first year high schooler.
Sometimes it's I think it as a praise for being so youthfull looking, other times, especially when going to a bar it's really annoying.

I just turned 37. I'll tell you a secret about aging. :)

You don't change all that much. If you like video games in your teens and twenties, you'll like them in your 30s and 40s and 50s and beyond. You don't suddenly change into a different person as the years go by. I love going into Gamestop after work, still wearing my tailored work suit, and having a fun and intelligent conversation with one of the sales people about games. It's great to break the stereotype.

Back on Garrus-topic. I recently replayed ME1 as a Paragon Akuze survivor. I couldn't help thinking about how similar Shepard's situation with Dr. Wayne and Tooms is to what Garrus is going through with Sidonus. I really wanted to let Tooms pull that trigger. It just felt like justice--all those needless deaths, a whole unit wiped out--for what? I didn't, of course. But I can definitely understand having that deep-rooted desire for justice for the fallen.

I looked exactly like the Pepsi Girl growing up, so curls...What's terrible is a few weeks ago I got asked if I wanted the kids menu which is twelve and under. That's the lowest I've gotten lately. I'm sure I'll appreciate looking younger when I'm older but right now it's simply an annoyance. I blame my dad, it's his side that gave me the genes. The funny thing is, I look so "cute" and "innocent" that guys give the most surprised look when I enter a game shop. I'm like 'What? Girls can't like video games/comic books/ trading cards?'

I find that thats just a girl thing. They do give me funny looks sometimes. Though I usually get a fair few members of staff coming over to ask if I need help.

I once had it in a game store that one of the general staff members was happyily chatting to me and his manager came over and took over the conversation. i felt well popular that day!

So...I just found what must be one of my favorite kmeme fills in the history of ever.  It's AU: Nihlus, Saren, and Shepard.  I have stayed up four hours past my bedtime reading it, and I know I'll feel it in the morning, but SO WORTH IT.

I hate those ones.

You find one at 11 oclock and think 'I'll have a look at this'. And then it's 3/ 4 in the morning and you haven't slept but you just..couldn't..stop!

I'll be 21 this summer. I play a few bioware games, and a few other non-related games (like racing). But we do have another gamer in my family, my younger sister who's 15 (nearly 16 though) who just finished Assasin's Creed. I also played the 2-player Portal with her over break... Although, she isn't nearly as obsessed with gaming as I am. I had to buy a new TV that's just for gaming. My friends think playing video games is strange too, they don't play at all...

I'm 5'1" too, and get confused for being around 16. No joke, I took my little sisters trick 'o treating this past October, and when they told people I was 20, they were like "she looks 15!" It just must be our shortness, lol.

And here's some Garrusness so this post won't be totally off topic:

I get a feeling that many of us ME players are twenty something (just like Garrus!) but with a lot of people over thirty and under twenty.

I'm 20 but I'll be 21 in less than a month, like a lot of people here I also look younger than I am, a few months ago I was at a bar and a girl (who was very drunk) asked me if I was sure if I was 18... more than once. The embarrassing thing is my younger 18 year old sister was right next to me and no one ever questions her age. It's not that I'm short (I'm 5'6) it's that I have a round face and still have baby fat on my cheeks, bah.

I've also known for a long time that getting older does not mean growing out of all your hobbies, when I was 10 my best friend was sure that by the time I was 12 I'd have grown out of liking pokemon... Istilllikeitshutup.

Pokemon is amazing. It was one of the first games I relly loved (I was 11) and now Im 23 and still keep a nintendo ds just to play pokemon.

Damn, between my college work and playing multiplayer (I can't really play through the single player without feeling all upset about the ending) I barly have any time to post here.
I hate looking younger than my age, I mean I'm 18 and I get asked for ID for 15 rated games. *Sigh*

Also I finally got both turians in multiplayer *le happy cheer*
And if anyone wants to play multiplayer with me my XBL gamertag is FanaticEmpress8

Also nothing wrong with playing games like pokemon. B) Red was the first video game I ever played and I still play them now.

Awesome prompt on MassKink where John and Jane Shepard exist as siblings in the same ME universe. John is the Shepard in the games. Jane is the sibling in his shadow who can hold her own without breaking a sweat. And Garrus gets to lust after her with amusing/dangerously hot results every time. And there are THREE amazing fills going for this ONE prompt.

It's freaking sublime.

Prompt link: http://masseffectkin...312213#t9312213
Fills in no particular order:
Sister Complex
Two Shepards are Better Than One
Gemini Rising

I still own my Pokemon games for my Gameboy Advance. It'll never get old. Hm...I wonder what our grandchildren will think of our obsession with Garrus or Mass Effect. I mean would that be like the old Asteroid arcade games to them? Hard to picture what video games will look like in 50-60 years.

@Deviant Ingredient Yeah, I mean my younger brother finds my pokemon red game terribly old. Games to him are all about graphics. *sigh*
And most of my friends already find my obsession with mass effect and Garrus odd, although I did manage to convert two of my friends to play dragon age, and now I'm convincing one to play mass effect *evil laugh*

Heh, I just turned 38.

I still get carded. Unless I'm with my husband. He looks older than me, despite being 6 years younger.

I like Shepard's and Garrus' relationship because it isn't based remotely on lust. It's trust. It's blood, it's fire, it's I've-got-your-back-through-hell-and-high-water. It's what I try to capture in both fics.

The only reason I'll eventually buy the 3DS is because they'll eventually start making pokemon games for it, so I'll be spending $250 just to play it, damn I'm pathetic.

By the way have you played the mystery dungeon explorers games? There's a character who I find incredibly attractive in the same way I find Garrus attractive (it also helps that he was the most morally ambiguous pokemon character until N came along), it's even possible to headcannon your character and his relationship as being similar to that of Shepard and Garrus, only a lot more tragic considering what happens to your character.

I turn 26 in 3 weeks.. People have been telling me I look like 18 since I was 12 and they still do.. Being part asian probably helps with that too ;)

When I'm visiting other countries people think I'm much older, it must be my height. I'm 5"9 which is sort of average where I come from but makes me stand out everywhere else

My husband and I are 24 and play games together. It's lots of fun.

My friend and I are working on writing a ME3 fanfic right now that's looking like it's gonna be pretty long. We set it up with two Sheps; hers with Kaidan and mine with Garrus. I've already written a bunch of Garrus/Shep scenes, including smut...which is challenging taking the whole alien thing into consideration.

Though I know this conversation was like 10 pages ago, I'd like to throw in my own bit on the turian/human baby thing. I also had the idea about the whole asari reproduction thing, so I did some research. According to the codex http://www.masseffec...aces/asari.html, asari reproduce via parthenogenesis (http://en.wikipedia....Parthenogenesis), more specifically Gynogenesis it would appear. And according to this wikipedia article, scientists are already playing around with human parthenogenesis, going so far as creating human embryos with it. Basically what I'm saying is, looking at the the science I don't think it's at all unreasonable to think that with the advanced tech of Mass Effect and being able to study the asari, that they would be able to reproduce something like this for humans. Any child of Garrus and Shepard would be a human female with genetics being randomized or some such by the process. Basically, I definitely think it's doable without being creepy, not much different from cloning or in vitro.

However, I'd definitely want my Shepard to adopt too. Turian boy first, possibly baby krogan or drell eventually. :)

hehe. 23 and my former highschool teachers still forward and invitation to the yearly buffet at my old highschool. Shave put some sport shorts and I pass for a 12th grader. Its always a good way to eat free food and visit my tutors every year.

Horray for Marketing and Computer graphics class. My highschool ID is so easy to print.
