I'm waiting to see what the EC contains, but one thing I probably WILL headcanon away no matter what is all the crew magically appearing on the Normandy. I could possibly justify Joker booking it with the on-board crew if Hackett ordered him to or something, but there is literally no sensical way for Shep's ground team during the Crucible push to end up back on the ship.

Also my reaction when I reached the end and during the StarKid moment, the "Darth Vader NOOOOOOOO!!" came after I finished the game and recovered from the shock it caused.

She said I had an empty face she'd never seen before.
I didn't scream, yell or tried to convince myself of something else... I just went to sleep.

I... looking back at my reaction. I was in a party with a friend. My 2 friends were next playing something... can't remember what. Kelly keeps laughing at me still. At 3 am in the morning I just turned off my xbox. Walked silently to my room and went to sleep.

This was pretty much my reaction for about a half hour. Then I tried a different ending with an equally failtastic result. Then my angel of a boyfriend got to listen to me NERDRAGE for about three hours

I like the other conversation option better, but that one's pretty funny. And sexy
I prefer the 'paragon' option, too. Had not even seen the 'renegade' one before, but the question made me curious as well. It helps to have a ton of savegames - and either a brilliant memory or Fraps. Luckily, the latter is easy to get.
Regarding the end of ME3: One hour and a tissue, that's all I am going to say.
And that I am never going to play a RPG again without getting any spoilers before.

One thing I remember going through the ending of my first and, so far, only playthrough was the second of guilt I had at thinking about shooting something child shaped. Then I thought about the bulls*** options said child-shaped thing had given me and unloaded in its face for about 15 seconds straight. I was hoping he'd get mad with me and we'd have a showdown. Ah well. Back to crossing my fingers.

Yeah, I usually have things lightly spoiled for me going in. For example, in DA2, I knew before booting up the game that Anders' romance was a clusterf***, I just didn't know why. Didn't stop me from romancing that crazy scruffy blonde anyway
I DID know that people weren't happy about ME3's endings, and that was the only spoiler. For what it's worth, I guess it softened the blow a little when I finished the game.

I spoiled myself because I'm of the gamer variety that doesn't enjoy ****ty endings and heartbreak sneaking up on them.
I also haven't finished the game - and I won't do that either. Ever. Unless they fix that mess. I seriously doubt 'clarification' is going to do that

Regarding headcanons: When I started to play around with screenshots and slide shows to replace the ME3 ending cinematics, I was sort of hoping that it would be so fast and easy to create that soon, hundreds of people would discover how to do it and we all would be able to choose from the visions of talented artists (not talking about Bioware here, to avoid confusion...), each of them presenting a logical (happy) end for ME3. In the end, I was not able to avoid artifacts due to compression (any non-compression formats would cause crashes), and the size of the files in total was around 100 MB. Not quite what I imagined, or what I would call 'easy to share'.
What I am hoping now is that 'clarification' is Bioware's expression to save their faces and fulfilling the wishes of the community. What was shown on screen is so... um, ambiguous, that they could show basically anything and still state that it is just clarification. Example: Anderson is dead? Really? Anybody checked his pulse?! 'Clarification': He only fainted, was saved, married Kahlee Sanders and named his firstborn Shepard.
Edit: @Pyn: Garrus' glowing visor can possibly be fixed with any graphic-oriented program. Played around a bit with GIMP, results are no way perfect but it looks a bit more 'familiar'. The lighting is more difficult to adapt, at least if one tries to fit the two of them into a regular screenshot.

Now that you mention it... maybe that is why I just went straight to sleep afterwards. My friend Zach told me a day before, since he just rushed through it. That he didn't like it. He'd never been into RPG's so I sort of "dismissed that claim"...
Maybe that is why I didn't throw my controller against the ground like with Halo 2 ending.

I knew people were really upset about ME3's endings, and that was before the game was even released. I got scared, so I fed on spoilers for a week. It hurt, but I thought it'd help me to get prepared. And it did, but damn, it was still painful, since it was even worse than I thought. I cannot imagine what unspoiled people must have gone through if they were as sensitive as me.Sable Rhapsody wrote...

I went out of my way to avoid spoilers. The months before ME3's release I stayed clear of any gaming sites (a bit ashamed I admit I even considered bringing earplugs to the queue outside Gamestop to avoid overhearing other fans waiting in line). So the ending came as quite a shock, yes.

The ME3 ending was pretty much empty and emotionless. Not because it was 'sad' -- it just had no connection to anything and confused me more than anything, and not in a good way. Initially it was just a confused apathy I guess. Disappointment kicked in later as I pieced things together I think.

But when I started to hear the rumblings of discontent, I spoiled myself and then unloaded on a fellow writer friend about the endings. Because that's what really pissed me off. The bad writing. (But I won't go into detail here.)
So, before I even finished, I saw vids and discussion and I knew going in it was going to suck.
However, even knowing that, I didn't prepare me for the sheer... "what the hell just happened?" that I felt.

Just waking up there without my crew was a sucker punch. Oh god it got so much worse. I maintain the normandy scene serves absolutely no purpose beyond adding salt to a wound. Pure sadism.

that... was extreme
never thought of that. I tuned out completely like you many from anything bioware related as to not spoil myself but. Never occurred to me I could have failed from someone speaking in the line. Thanx gota take that tip into account for the future.

They don't end the trilogy. They end ME3. Ignoring the starbrat's circular logic, the ending is consistent with the lead up through ME3.
Problem is... WE didn't just play ME3, we played all of the games. And were looking for an end to the trilogy, not an end to ME3.

I completely agree. That was the worst thing they could have done. I said it before, but I'd rather have all the characters all killed off rather than separated forever, even though I'd obviously still b*tch about it.Szaiu wrote...
The only spoiler I remember reading was the Tali Garrus hookup. I knew people were upset with the ending, but i had total faith in bioware. That faith felt pretty well rewarded through the game until I was beamed up to the citadel.

I wanted options. I wanted to be able to make a choice. Actually, I wanted what Bioware had told us we would get, and that was "wildly different conclusions".
