Happy 700, Garrus thread! :D

Okay, I finally saw the Castle episode with Brandon Keener. I have this thing where I can't watch VAs I really like do live action because it's just so weird, but I like Castle so I wanted to watch it. I had to cover my face with embarrassment. Luckily his screaming made his voice hard to recognize for the majority of it, but when 'Garrus' rang through, I cringed. That was so not the smooth-talking turian I know and love.

For those of you who have heard of the Marauder Shields comic, (it's epic) something awesome happened! The artist got the voice actor of Nihlus to do a reading of his work! I also found out the dude who did Nihlus was also  the voice actor who did the codex entries.

Listen to it here

Are he and Liara the only ones who actually mention babies?

I don't really know if I should thank you for answering my question on what happens during that scene in detail, or being upset about viewing things I never intended to touch my monitor ;)
And while I admire (as in 'being a bit jelous of your skills / knowledge as well as incredibly grateful that you are kind enough to share the results') your work with 3ds Max, I am more and more convinced that the Shepard from your screenshots and any of my own Shepards would not really get along :D

Happy 700!

Edit: Just the fact that no babies are shown on-screen doesn't mean that there won't be some in the not-shown happy-reunion future. Remember, the current "ending" is just a giant bug which will be eaten by Kalros soon enough.

I'm really craving some good C-sec officer/refugee teen fanfic. Has anyone tackled this potentially amazing paring yet?

Have you looked at In Times of War by MLGumm?
There's one called Waiting by TheAngelStrikesBack which I haven't read but I've skimmed bits and it seems okay.
And then there's a fill on the kink meme for this that I remember reading but I'll have to hunt it down.

Edit:
Found it. Whoever told me about Delicio.us - I love you forever.
KinkMeme Fill: Guardian. Really like this one for how spare it is emotionally, but it still had an impact on me.

Thought I should say thanks and add to the list for anyone else who likes the idea of these two:

This one's a 3 parter--

(1) Serve and Protect
(2) Differences
(3) Never a Promise

Damn.  I kinda preferred it when he was just her protector.  It's a lovely story and not played for the titilation at all... but, even as hopeless a romantic as I am, I'd have preferred the two characters remained platonic or father/daughter, or something.  Though I guess he doesn't have to be that much older than she...

I agree with you there. Mostly it's because when I first saw them in game they established themselves as a 14 year old girl and a turian guy in his late 20s to his early 30s in my head. Always saw them as a potential father/daughter or platonic guardian/ward relationship. I guess that initial impression is hard to shake, especially when the first few fics I've read flesh out my particular headcanon so well.

Still, the variety of approaches to fills in the kink meme is also one of its joys.
You could end up reading anything (Kalros x Tuchanka Shroud Reaper anyone?) ;)

P.S. You're welcome txmn1016!

likely not, but could be surprised with her on some things, but personality-wise she is not much different from Saren himself, has been from the beginning...
And now, during ME2, those Cybernetics I feel are Sovereign Reapertech (EDI does say in ME2 at a point that her "design has hardware recovered from the Wreckage of Sovereign, besides already expected Cerberus to be using Reapertech), also playing renegade mostly noticed  the scarring [location/shapes] is similar Saren

My shep's first name is a variant of Serena, being Sarena, spelling just coincidence with that Rogue Spectre's name; Saren...^_^ (really, wasn't intended just happened. Saren[a]. Which I like; more due to that)

Sovereign's signature color seems to be Red, Harbinger is Yellow, most indoctrinated (TIM, Husks, Saren) have Blue glowy eyes, (Saren husk is Red, Renegade Shep's cybernetics are Red)
for the ME3 'end choices' - Yellow+Blue=Green (Harbinger, Synergy, still Indoctrination, big beam is Blue electricity, Control, is pretty much Reaper Artifact (blue electricity; husk/indoctrination),  Destroy on the other hand Red, Sovereign seems to be trying to help shep for whatever reasons (if the Geth can have Factions, then why not the Reapers? Possible that Sovereign & Harbinger never really got along.)
I kind of believe not "all" Reapers attacked... others just waiting it out...
Pick Destroy,
then I think to ME2 Derelict Reaper log "Even dead gods can dream" so we're likely not done with "The Reapers" just yet...

Supposed "conduit"  beam has same Blue, Giant Reaper artifact? likely,

---------------------
as much as I don't like ME3 end much, I still try to figure some things out which may make it a little better....

Image IPB
Renegade Shep's eyes aren't normal, nevermind the cybernetics for a moment, compare to Nightmare child's, Paragon Sheps (yes I looked once when tested ME3 last tim-encounter used save editor on the rene/para points) apparently have normal, like "child in duct/vent"

shuttle, child's eyes are like in the nightmare pic... way I take his "you can't help me line", indoctrination.  kids probably more sensitive, besides can probably hear frequencies that older people cannot (sometimes there are exceptions of course)
--------------

I like this ME1 screenshot:

Huh. Actually, this does probably mean that I could at least respect her. Perhaps some of the AU fics around are to blame, but there are some "Saren incarnations" around that I really liked. And I do remember that my very first full-paragon Shepard really tried to talk Saren around, not just to gain a military advantage, but to save that partly-geth-upgraded turian. His voice didn't hurt, either, neither in German nor in English.

Regarding Reaper-tech cybernetics: It wouldn't surprise me. But since I don't have proof, I choose to believe they aren't ;) I already dislike Cerberus, but when I'd have to imagine role-playing what's basically a Reaper-Cyborg in ME2... Don't think I'd touch that game again. And I like ME2.

Shepard's first name: Yours would be the prototype of a "telling name", hm? ;) Don't know if the term is appropriate if it wasn't intentional, though.
Thanks for sharing your name and parts of its history, I always find those interesting. My main three Shepards are either named out of habit (blame Baldur's Gate) or borrow the name of a mountain (just liked the word, no deeper reason) or the name of a former Sith (role-playing reasons, borrowed parts of her personality).

"then I think to ME2 Derelict Reaper log "Even dead gods can dream" so we're likely not done with "The Reapers" just yet..."
Same as with the Reaper cybernetics: While it wouldn't surprise me, I choose to ignore the possibility :D
As I have probably stated for about ten or twenty times, I dislike the ending to the point that I am still playing around with screenshots and video files to compensate. In my personal happy ending, there are no Reapers left - when my Shepard gets bored, she can still hunt down mercs or villains of any species.

Your paragraph about eyes, colours, ears and indoctrination gave me a minor headache, by the way ;)
I agree with the frequency part. Everything else about that child or the catalyst in general... Gah. My English is not good enough (well, perhaps 'good' is not the right word here, 'colourful' might be better) to express my opinion, so I won't try. I see precisely one good use for the boy, though: Providing basic material for screenshot manipulation. Sadly, the lighting in the wood-of-the-dead is terrible gloomy.

And about the rest...

I do know my Shep's story continues long after ME3, and Saren is still around... Currently writing it in a fanfic form,
Vanguard, ME3 soon enough I have her set don't need to do much,
Sometimes use Biotics, sometimes melee, sometimes just shoot wwithout aiming with Tempest Submachine gun with Incendiary Ammo...

Garrus wasn't the first Turian (LI) for my Shep:?

:innocent:

played through each mass effect game a number of times trying to find what works right for my Shep's story, ME1/ME2 settled (did DLCs), now just to settle ME3 play... Quarians next on that playthrough... Definitely she will kick Han'Gerral off her ship (renegade interrupt)...
I guess even her temper be similar to certain turian... more later...

Wow, that is gorgeous, and so dramatic.

Why is it that most of the best fanart nowadays has to be so sad? More beaches and reunions, less dying and goodbye-ing! My heart can't take it. :crying:

And back to happy! Thanks Karrie. <3

EDIT: And Armdin! I agree, I really love ghostfire's interpretation of turian bodies, especially the cowl.

As a side note, it's weird, that's twice I've posted and then a few minutes later saw another post pop up in-between my post and the last one I saw. Maybe the board is a little slow today. :?
