Thanks! Yeah... that was just... a depressing moment. Initial idea was to explore how Garrus feels about the war since he's Shepard's rock throughout the whole game, and it ended up sad =/ EC come out soon so I can get the happy feels back ;_;
Your confidence is... inspiring
But I agree completely on the "rock throughout the whole game" thing. One thing, for example, that somehow bothers me with Liara. Screentime, yes, but I always get the impression Shepard has to be strong for her, not the other way round. Or that breaktown after Thessia clouds my memories ^^

I'm assuming those are bite marks by the bruises on her shoulder, from uh, previous action.

Whereas, after Thessia, you get Garrus' military pep talk. Which I adored.

Completely agree. I really got the sense of his and Shepard's friendship on my Kaidanmancer. It was awesome. It completely lacked the buggy awkwardness of the Liara friendship path.
(I'm still replaying Meghan's ME2 run.)

Completely agreed (2).
And the "What about your family" talks, especially with a Spacer Shepard who actually has family herself... These are some moments where ME3 is great.
Still, it's a pity that most other characters got less personal interaction. We got really lucky, I'd say.

Wanted to come and fangirl for a moment about how much I love Garrus.
I love the way you can help shape his character in ME1.
I love how he is available as an LI in ME2 (but wanted more than a headbump).
I love how he can be sarcastic.
I love his sense of honor and willingness to do whatever it takes.

He's simply awesome.
Haven't gotten to the end of ME3 with femShep romancing Garrus, so I know there's more to come, but their date on the Citadel was so great! I had to put it on youtube (there's a bunch already there, but what the heck, the world needs more Garrus). link:

Breath
Breath
Pray for blood
Pray for the cleansing
Pray for the flood
Pray for the end of this nightmare
This lie of a life can as quickly as it came dissolve
We seek only reprieve
And welcome the darkness
The myth of a meaning, so lost and forgotten
Take hold of my hand
For you are no longer alone
Walk with me in hell
Pray for solace
Pray for resolve
Pray for a savior
Pray for deliverance
Some kind of purpose, a glimpse of a light in this void of existence
Oh...
Now witness the end of an age
Hope dies in hands of believers
Who seek the truth in the liar's eyes
Take hold of my hand
For you are no longer alone
Walk with me in hell
Walk with me in hell
Walk with me in hell
Walk with me in hell
Walk with me in hell
Walk with me in hell
Take hold of my hand
For you are no longer alone
Walk with me in hell
Walk with me in hell
Walk with me in hell
You're never alone
You're never alone
You're never alone
You're never alone
You're never alone
Walk with me in hell

While I'd like that, it would be pretty unfair for all colony or earthborn Shepards. Unless you are talking about the remaining Turian family, that's possible for every background and I'd love to see both Garrus' father and sisterEnvyTB075 wrote...

On a side note: Some time ago I played around with Mass Effect's video files to replace the current ending with custom-made slideshows, reported some form of success on this thread and bored all people crazy enough to read the post. While I am not about to repeat that, I'd like to report that it's indeed possible to get rid of the most annoying graphical glitches I previously encountered (flicker effects on static screens don't look pretty).
As a result, the slide show finally looks sort of okay from a graphical point of view, and content-wise... well, the point is "custom made", as in "replace the current mess with anything you want", so no problems there.
Personally, I am waiting for the Extended Cut. But if the EC is just some more red-green-blue in addition to the current red-green-blue... If enough artists, authors and / or video experts (and somebody with a good idea on how to share data with a total size of around 100 MB in a practical way) are around who still care about ME, perhaps it'll be possible to create a Garrus-specific happy end mod.

Garrus is just... awesome. The ultimate best friend in the game IMO. I feel kinda bad that he has no one to hook up with in my games.

I agree though, he's the ultimate bro/boyfriend. On a side note, I finished Liara's romance yesterday, and it was incredibly sweet, but I like the dynamic and Garrus and Shep's relationship better, it felt more like they were equals. But boy was she adorable in that last scene. And I didn't even like her that much.

Lose Tali? Never. But I am remarking on how without her or Shepard in his sights, he doesn't end up with anyone.
This makes me has a sad.

Is there ever actually stated that his mom dies? I know that in LotSB some info is given about his mom's condition and the fact that it is pretty bad. But I can't remember if there is anything ever said about her possible death.Seleya_LL wrote...

When Shepard asks about his family it is about the family on Palaven (since Garrus tells James about his sister and dad) but for all we know his mom is somewhere in Salarian territory undergoing treatments.
Like I said, maybe I missed something. o.o'

Yeah, I never caught anything about his mom either.
I thought it was strange that he only mentioned his dad and sister but never anything about his mom's condition or location. I kinda feel like it's something we really should have gotten some input on.

Slightly more serious though, is there anything you don't like about Garrus? Please put down your weapons, I am a fellow fan of Garrus.
I think they put too much armour on him in ME2 and 3. I prefer to think about him as the smart and professional sniper who relies more on his rifle and skills than armour. He looked more dangerous as the slim but atlethic guy he was in ME1.

Posté 08 juin 2012 - 02:29
I didn't like his ME3 armour much either. ME2 was ok, he still looked damn good in it; but I agree, I really miss his ME1 armour... more revealing, dare I say.
As for his personnality... there were times in ME1 I wanted to turn around to face him and say "... dude, you're an idiot." when he spoke to my squad. With love, of course. He said the stupidest things to Wrex and Tali, for example, but I think that's because maybe he hasn't had enough reality checks.
He seems so young and naive in ME1 (and I love that).

But in retrospect, knowing how much of a boss he becomes in ME2 and ME3 makes me glad he showed development over the series. You had to see him at his most facepalmable so you could appreciate how he grew up into a complete badass.
P.S. I've rustled up and read several Saren x Femshep fics. Can I just say: HELLS YISSSSSSSSS.

Well of course, poor guy's disappointed. He has the hots for Shep anyway, remember how quickly he agreed to blow off some steam? =Dflippedeclipse wrote...
I dislike how he has so little to say to me in ME2 if I don't romance him. Its like he's shunning me for not getting it on with him =P
Kidding. It was annoying. Wasn't he initially intended to appear later in the game, much like Tali, which explained the lack of content?
But it did start the calibrations meme, which remains funny even to this day. And his bromance with ManShep/unromanced FemShep was bloody fantastic in ME3.
