Oh yeah. By the way, with the Jacob dialogue for ME2, Hale said that a more sultry tone was requested when recording the conversation, and that's how it came out (she also said Jacob is hot for a bunch of pixels). Someone asked why she sounded like that at a convention panel I was at over the weekend. She also did a "measure the crowd's cheers" type ballot to see who the favourite LI for femShep was. Garrus came first (big response), then Liara (medium response), then Thane (a couple of "woohoo's). And then she prompted for the next question and someone yelled out "Kaidan!" and she laughed and went "Oh yeah! Kaidan!" and the audience cracked up.

Yeah, that first one you listed is the line from my playthrough. I think it's a repeat of what Garrus says when you've completed all romance dialogue before the final scene, but it fits just as well there. Especially the "diagnostics" mention - the Normandy did take some damage, after all.
I finished all of Thane's conversations, but only played out a couple of Jacob's. FemShep's flirty tone was annoying.
Just to clarify: You get the "diagnostics" dialogue before the Suicide Mission? Weird. I have completed the game with a Garrus-romancing FemShep more often than I'll admit, even to this audience, but I only got that particular piece of talk after the Collector station. And, as pointed out before, if I skipped one of the last dialogues with Jacob or Thane - of course that could also have been a coincidence, can't guarantee that this was really the reason.
Hm. That dialogue mystery would be quite a good excuse to search for the CD again...
Edit: Okay, taking the other post(s) into consideration - not being able to pursue any other candidate is not what I'd expected, but so close that I'd take it as a hint that something is a little messed up with the romance-related flags. Or it's intentional, who knows.
Still, I like the "diagnostics" dialogue and am happy when my FemSheps get it.
Edit^2: Lack of Turians on this page.

I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure that's where the line was. I knew when I heard it after the suicide mission that it sounded familiar, and others at the time had said it was a repeat line as well. I did talk to Garrus a lot in that first playthrough, and triggered his romance early - did his loyalty mission as soon as it became available, putting off recruitments (Tali, Thane, Samara) so I could get FemShep to that dialogue fast. When he ran out of conversations, I still had her visit him after every mission, and I think that's where the line originally came from. He was fixing up the Normandy before the suicide mission, but hadn't forgotten the romantic plans they talked about. Still very glad that it fit the scene well though.
Thanks for the info. Still don't recall that version, but perhaps it's not due to different dialogue / mission parameters, but bad memory.
Anyway, you are right - fixing and calibrating the Normandy always fits

Edit: A little bit like deja vu, actually. xD "I know I've heard him say this before!"

They could have done so much more with the LI aspect of the game really.

Sorry to derail the current topic, but I was just thinking, did anyone else find Garrus' character changes jarring over the games? Perhaps I need to replay them again, but the changes between each game was pretty dramatic. I mean, it makes sense after some explanation but the whole C-Sec officer to defeated vigilante, then that to a high ranking military officer seemed crazy. Especially him rising through the ranks within the span of six months; I understand that he's an advisor now, but getting close to becoming Primarch? Don't know much about the military, but that feels a little outrageous to me.
In other news there's a rumour floating around that we'll get an EC announcement soon, seeing as Chris Gamble posted some tweets about something being done, but I guess it could just be his dinner
Also, @Niostang, I feel almost bad for Kaidan lol. I guess the phrase good guys finish last rings true for him this time
And because there's not enough Garrus art on this page:

As far as being almost primarch, I didn't really take that to be a reflection of Garrus's qualifications. Have you ever seen Battlestar Galactica? In the first episode, the earth is attacked and so many people are dying- the person that ends up president is something like 37th in line. It didn't really feel to me that Garrus was that highly ranked- it was just that palavan was in such a state of chaos that people who were lower ranked were being forced into a role of power out of nessesity. Especially someone who had previous knowledge of fighting reapers.
But I think when Shepard suggests it, she/he is being somewhat like a proud parent. "YOU COULD BE PRIMARCH GARRUS." It doesn't mean they were actually considering it.

Hahahahahah yeah. In retrospect I feel a little bad for him, but at the time it was pretty friggin' hilarious. Although, in my vanguard playthrough I was just talking to Kaidan and listening to him made me decide to get cozy with Liara instead (I have never done that before and still intend to go for G in ME2. Shepard's teasing completely flew over my head. Jeez, I'm just as oblivious as Garrus with chocolate >.<
It does make sense for him to be taking on a big role like that, yeah... I guess it was him being all shmucked up that threw me for a curveball. And I agree, I thought his dad would be a bit more skeptical of his story too.

Haha, thank you. I found this trailer the other day and had to make a gif of it hehe.
I do quite like Liara's ME1 romance, she's kind of silly in an adorable way,
That fill's been on my to-read list for like ever. Maybe I'll finally get to it after my daily dose of angst in the form of sad!Shep + Garrus/Tali.

Definitely don't forget to read "Answer Me" though. It's got a lot of s***-eating grin moments, despite how dire the premise initially appears to be.
There is also a really brilliant but old Hannah Shepard/Nihlus FCW AU fill that seems like it might not have been completed or was possibly left open-ended. Young, spunky army!Nihlus. Winnnnn.

I can't bring myself to read Garrus/Tali. Tali doesn't deserve my resentment if no one nabs Garrus (which will never happen in any of my games because great googly knows I've tried to bang other crew members but apparently once you go space cricket YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK) but I know i'll just be irrationally fuming while I read.

"Answer Me" is one of those promts that I recognize, but didn't dare to read... Perhaps I should reconsider. The Tali/Garrus thing is something I am not sure of. I don't hate the idea, but seeing it (and I assume reading it would also count) does make me a little uncomfortable.
@flippedeclipse: I don't really get your reading choices, but I didn't get your recent writing project, either, so I suppose it fits

Hannah Shepard/Nihlus. First Contact War AU.
Pulled it up to get the link and ended up rereading the whole thing. Finished and wished fervently there had been more. Mooorrreeee.
Completely agree with you on the Smehur thing. That and how the entire fandom seems to universally agree that Nihlus is a smart-mouthed BAMF with a killer sense of humour and an irreverent streak a planet wide when he's not in Spectre mode. Makes me mentally squeal with delight.
Exhibit A(i):
A link to a section of a kink meme fill called "Rain on Virmire" (Nihlus/Saren slash) in which Nihlus is a smart-mouthed BAMF with a killer sense of humour and an irreverent streak a planet wide while he makes Saren watch a human movie as payment for helping out in Saren's most recent mission. Said section - beginning from "//two years later…//"contains no smut.
Exhibit A(ii):
A link to fanart based on the above section. Not posted directly into the forum due to mild profanity. Does not contain smut.
A NOTE TO MY FELLOW XENOPRUDES:
I recommend this fic to you "Two Shortens the Road" while it is still fluffy as a Pomeranian fresh back from the grooming salon. FemShep + OC turian. The interaction and the dialogue is adorable. I don't think I stopped smiling like a loon until I switched tabs. I am going to add the OC to the turian list because he reminds me of a calmer sort of Nihlus. Unf. Banter. I loooove me some fluffy, smart-mouthed banter.

Very much appreciated
So, DLC coming soon? That particular combination of hoping for the best while dreading the worst I usually associate with school or university exams... stupid, I know, but my stomach seems to have a mind of its own.
By the way, can anyone translate the site rules from Bioware-English to regular English? "Any discussion of Story related content... (etc) ...==> banning" doesn't mean that saying "Garrus is awesome when he does XYZ" or "I am soooo glad that Garrus does ABC" is suddenly a capital offense, right?
Edit: Nice EC announcement picture. Garrus directly next to Shepard, literal right-hand man.

It is still the same ending. That horrible piece of junk writing. Now there's just more of it.
Dunno about you guys, but if I complained about there being bugs in my soup, I wouldn't want the waiter to come in and toss more flies in it. I'd like a new soup thanks.
