You people are so nice to this game. I just headcanon the whole crucible and catalyst plots out of the story lol. Even Mordin and Legion are alive in my headcanon when they couldn't be in my game :P (but it's still less cheesy and rainbowy than Synthesis) I want to find a ME3 fanfiction that does all that, but I haven't searched yet.

Yes. The Reapers are housed within large spaceships, controlling the husks on the ground. EDI is housed in a smaller spaceship, controlling a robot on the ground.

While i'm quite aware my response is heavy on speculations, i'd say a Reaper controlling husks is more comparable to a General co-ordinating his troops. A Reaper doesn't perceive the world through husks....unless it can...although Husks are not fully synthetic like EDI's appropriated body...

Extended cut, Y U NO CLARIFY?

edit: as for the rest...plausible (from my POV).

Know what you mean, but i kinda set a limit to what i change from the actual story, since no matter how bad it is it is the story in the end...

If i can find a technical loophole and "fix" my canon without going into all out gaga-land and fulfilling my ultimate "fantasies" (NOT LIKE THAT...consider: Halo SPARTAN fighting Reapers, yay or nay? Said SPARTAN ends up with Turian female), i'll take it. I would much prefer my playthrough is what actually happened rather than mixing in events.

I like Fanfics, but i could never apply them to my Shepard.

I'd say that the Collectors granted Harbinger sufficient perception.

Well, worse case is that they confirm the geth are dead for good/Shepard-Reaper-god turns evil/synthesis = zombies, so... tactical decision to let the fans headcanon their way out?

I'm beginning to resign myself to the fact that I'll just have to headcanon the sh** out of the ending if I ever want to make peace with this series.

@FFZero
Please do keep up updated about your project. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what comes of it.

The kink meme has given me a broad appreciation for Saren/Nihlus. Even when he's drawn all cute-like Saren still manages to look like a grumpy bastard. Oi lovs et.

Nihlus, Nihlus, Nihlus <3

I'm rediscovering turians in ME1. The ERCS guard on Noveria who craves doughnuts is such to listen to. So reasonable, and his voice gets all gravelly (gravellier?) when talking about craving doughnuts. He really wants that doughnut.

And Lorik Qui'in, you fine stately specimen of human-adage-obsessed turian manhood. Hooooowwww have I not paid more attention to you before? His dialogue options, hell his dialogue in general is so endearing.

@EnvyTB075 I think because I headcanon the game since ME1 a lot, and created various AUs, and I don't take the games very seriously (my Shep is so not what a "realistic part of the military" should be...), and because I draw and write myself, I feel just fine and justified for doing it with ME3. Specially cause I didn't enjoy about 60% of that game (not counting the ending). Even some parts with Garrus, cause I thought there wasn't enough dialogue and some things were wrong (like Shep should have known he had family in Palaven). Really couldn't care less for the ME3 events XD That may seem sad, but on the bright side I'm not as bothered by lack of closure like some people seem to be. I go back and forth between making up scenes from Destroy and completely AU though. I'll never replay ME3 anyway, so I don't have a reason to stick to it since the story is over. There's always gonna be an "official" one of course.
However I can admire your loyalty to canon and determination. (And sadly I have no Halo knowledge so uh o-o sorry) Go fans! o/ I was like that once ;_; Before DA2 I think lol, but I think I never took games seriously enough not to change my story, use mods, etc. (I think I've always been more "the story is what you make of it"... I remembered how heavily I modded my rpgs in the past, but I can see in ME3 case it'd look like too much XD)

Well...to clarify (lol), what i mean is that i use the structure of my playthrough, but make up other conversations and why Naomi is the way she is and how she relates to others. For example she was full on military in ME1, didn't fraternize, but ME2 she became rather upset that the sole purpose of her resurrection was to fight Reapers. Then Garrus came along and brightened the dark....corny, but i love it :3

Squadmates appear in the same places they appear in game, but their friendships might be different to how I as the player like them. So she gets on well with Zaeed, has little time for Liara.

Heh, Halo is actually pretty damned expansive and very deep if you get into the gritty details of it outside of the main games. For example many assume Humans are the descendants of the Forerunner just becaues Guilty Spark (oh the other secrets of 343...he isn't just a simple AI)  goes on and on and on about it...not going to spoil anything just in case, but that ain't true.

:P

@EnvyTB075 I think that sounds pretty interesting, seems to work well. For mine it's kinda the other way, my Shep's always showing Garrus how to turn from "the dark side of the force" lol (Obi Wan syndrome?). But for example makeup, dye and heels is totes fine for military in my head and my Shep can SO dance ;<

I got ya. I try to make most headcanon to fill what happens "offscreen" but I love the "what ifs" and doing different takes on things (which creates short AUs... I do AUs even with my original characters). And Zaeed ;_; In my perfect headcanon all the ME2 dudes/dudettes would be on the ME3 team. I wish I could write the whole thing myself but my writing is crap compared to my drawing, which is not that great either. And I mostly have fun with it, I'm not a fan of drama, so you can see why ME3 wasn't that much fun to me. Oh well.

I never thought of buying Halo, honestly o.o I'm not very good with FPS (I like a couple like Bioshock and The Darkness, and I guess Fallout 3/NV can count) and I don't play multiplayer.

I don't mind AU's if they're written well though, especially when they either follow on after ME2 (before ME3 was a thing) or ME3.

Well, can always read the books n'stuff, its where all the juicy information is anyway, and then look up the stories of the games on the wiki or something if you really don't like the FPS genre. I admit i'm not that big a fan of the stories in most of the Halo games (except ODST...its like Firefly, but military :D (oh and Reach)), and a lot of what i like about it is the style of the world. Like the look of the various UNSC armour types, the look and feel of the weapons, the variety of the aliens (Hunters are awesome).

For example, and this is completely unrelated to everything Garrus and Mass Effect, i just love the concept and desgin of the ODST, never mind that this guy is voiced by Adam Baldwin. Screencap is in game image touched up in CS3. Is mine :3

Got Halo 4 on pre-order though, thats gonna get REAL interesting.

My Shep gets offered a kitten during her stay at the hospital. To help her get better faster. I can also picture her quitting the Alliance after leaving the hospital with Garrus. And I'll have them settled in Grasse. To do what, I don't know exactly, but probably not going back to the army.

I still don't know what to do with EDI and the Geth though. I thought putting the EDI's flashback when picking Destroy was deliciously cruel.

I like that kitten idea ;)

Looking at some of these headcanons, I see some similarities to what I thought and think. Though, if you make a chart from 'dark, depressing' to 'rainbow, bunnies', I am probably very close to the rainbow end. EDI's flashback is, to me, first and foremost a figment of Shepard's imagination, based on feeling guilty since she's just heard that her decision will kill all synthetics. EDI's name on the wall - sure, EVA's avatar is probably gone. But I choose to believe that there's a backup, same with the majority of the Geth.

And that's why I have to correct myself about that 'I will NEVER touch control / synthesis' thing, in fact I'll pick it as soon as any of my non-canon Shepards reaches the end... because I want to have the corresponding  screenshots. As already said, I am not above changing the movie sequences of the game, and I never liked that stargazer scene at the end anyway. So it is probably going to make room for further pictures EC-style. Not that good as using the Unreal Development Kit, sure, but easy, fast, and, at least to me, satisfying.

Well she loves cats so... I always thought it would be funny to have such a badass character have a cuteness overload everytime she sees a kitten.

Oooh I picked Control with Jane yesterday. Best. Thing. Ever. It's not my canon ending (I mean Garrus is dead in that game... he appears in flashbacks btw), but it's probably my favourite. So powerful.

I still get that 'Galaxy is doomed' feeling if you put a flawed human (nobody is perfect, not even Shepard) into the role of an AI overlord. Personal impression only, of course, no offense to anybody who likes it. Perhaps I think differently after I've actually seen it.

I agree completely, actually. I think there's still a big chance she's going to go crazy eventually and resume the cycle or some other stupid decision like that. But knowing her, she would never have killed either the Geth or EDI, so she chose the lesser of three evils in her eyes.

But that epilogue was awesome. I especially loved the background music.

Agreed. I read this REALLY good Fanfiction once about the AI of Shepard and his feelings to the younger cycles, this being set YEARS after Liara, Garrus and Joker had all passed on. He is growing sick of this chaos and decides to start the cycle again.

And I see it as completely possible. Control is a pretty okay option until you consider what happens after everyone Shepard ever cared about is long gone, when the AI sees these stupid newer cycle species making all the same mistakes, I would probably hit 'reset' too and remove the... 'Chaos'.

It's likely some silly update Parallels did that messed up my ME-games... or a cross between something they did and something an Apple Update did...:?

fyi, ME1 used to work just fine too not even 1 problem, now can't even play it even new game... so not the first game some Parallels messed up. reinstalls dont work.

So, well, asking her for anyone PC that can help my FemShep just get past Harbinger-landing cutscene? That is exactly where it's blue screening for some reason...

for now at least until game gets downloaded and installed on another comp? (currently doing but quite a wait for that due to size of game itself + DLCs)

I can send you savegames, but those are all with my Sheps three games' worth of decisions.

To be 100% honest, I know next to nothing about Macs.  If you suspect Parallels or Apple Update, it is possible they may no longer support your Windows OS, since XP IS two generations removed from the current OS.  Sorry I can't be of more help :(

And why does he say 'all synthetics' then? It's just not clear at all.

I don't think you can really make sense out of the Starbrat's logic about the Crucible destroying "all synthetics."  The destruction of EDI and the geth was grafted on in a misguided attempt to add some downside to what would otherwise be the most positive ending.  There is no logical plot reason other than trying to make the choices a bit more ambiguous.  That's how I felt before the EC, and it's still how I feel now.

I think the outcome of Control on the galaxy, positive or negative, varies most widely from Shepard to Shepard since the AI is based on his/her morality and outlook.  A lot probably would hit reset.  Some might pull a Dr. Manhattan and just slowly withdraw from the galaxy.  Some might program self destruct protocols into themselves to prevent themselves from becoming the Starbrat.  I don't think Control is likely to end well, but you never know, it could.

I can't help but feel like no matter what kind of person Shepard was before the Crucible, the Shepard AI will be stripped of all humanity eventually, becoming something like Doctor Manhattan. With every century comes a slight skew, a small change in priorities. It's all a matter of time.

And then there's the whole immortality thing that just leaves me depressed. I swear I heard 'Who Wants To Live Forever' from Highlander playing while Narrator!Shep talked about never forgetting and the LI was shown at the memorial.

The autosave after Harbinger lands, is that when Shep lands on the Citadel or is there another autosave before that?

The issue I have with the control ending is more that starbrat explains that Shepard will remain aware of people moving on. The idea of romancing Liara freaks me out for the same reason, after everyone is dead Liara has a few more centuries to go.. Reaper Shep will be left behind forever (whole immortal thing), and I don't think her soul will go up to that bar to meet with Garrus (and the others) because she is only sort of dead. Maybe I just read too much into whatever starbrat says, but his explanation of what will happen during Control (and also during Synthesis) freaks me out.

I think I need to headcanon a scenario where Garrus decides to join his essence with mine in the control ending - hence NEVER being alone. The control "panel" is still there in the catalyst lair. It's not like the Citadel blew up or anything. Hell, it wasnt even damaged.

Also, I think his epic sense of Justice and humor would be welcome additions to the new overlord.
We could even integrate with EDI and the Normandy and visit them on occasion.

Imagine the ETERNAL adventures to be had, the universe to explore.

You guys can keep your destroy reunions, I'm all about the merging at this point!

In terms of the Star Trek universe: The Q Continuum is a pretty dull place... And that's not as bad as the situation of the Shepard AI, since there are actually more of them. And while I am at it - comparing Synthesis to the Borg would probably be a bit unfair, but Saren's concept sometimes reminds me of them.
Destroy is, personal opinion again, more Captain Janeway's style, and whoever pointed out certain similarities between her and Shepard: Agreed.

And that Destroy offers other options is a nice bonus.

There might be an Autosave before then, after Harbinger lands, when doing the start of "race to conduit"
If not then the Autosave after Harbinger's beams Shep... but I'll need screenshots for the between time there my game won't let me see.
