I'm betting that other than what we already know about how Cerberus ties in, that the Alliance will either sweep Shepard's involvement with them under the rug, or the story will ignore it entirely.

So long as the reunion with Garrus involves hugging of some variety, I will be pleased.

Hey, Chewin!

Heh, I'm always lurking. I see all and say nothing!

Is anyone else planning to take an entire week off of work or school when March 6th rolls around? I'm saving my leave up.

Fortunately, my college classes are like every other day. So I will have plenty of time for the game. I better have at least. (I would skip, but since it is an accelerated college you could fail if you miss two days) Oh, Garrus. "Ain't no sunshine when he's gone. Only darkness when he's away." Oh, wait, that's the reapers blocking out the sun as they head for earth.

I'll be back from backpacking just before the 9th of March (bloody Europe getting it later!) and lets just say I'm not going to be in any huge rush to look for a new job :innocent::whistle:

WILL NEED MY GARRUS FIX.

Right, not exactly about Garrus, but when browsing the official screenshots, I noticed a new, badass-looking turian. Well, he's got kind of garish colors on the armor--purple with bright gold lights? Either way, he seems to be chatting with Shepard and Liara, so I wonder if he might be at least a temporary squad member. Or perhaps he might be who you end up with on your team in place of Garrus if you let Garrus die (HOW COULD YOU?). He seems "older" in appearance than Garrus to me, too. He's probably at least somewhat important, since his appearance seems fairly unique compared to past turian models, and since Shepard seems to be paying rapt attention to what he and Liara are saying.

I also wondered if, despite comic appearances to the contrary, he might be a "she," though this is doubtful as far as I'm concerned.

I'm a little late to the discussion, but I wanted to toss my two cents in:

Even if Garrus (along with the rest of the squadies) can't be there for the trial, there's no good reason for them not to be watching. Since the trial is very likely a crapshoot public stunt to appease the batarians, I think it's possible that the trial would have a live broadcast throughout the galaxy. In that case, I think it'd be cool to have cinematic cuts to squadmates during the trial -for example, someone is giving testimony when suddenly the camera cuts to Mordin, busily working while the broadcast plays in the background - or Garrus, who snarls quietly into his omni-tool in response to a harsh bit of testimony. Just short, several-second cameos that sets up some world-building for new players while rewarding the returning ones.

The only problem with this theory is that military trials are very rarely given public promotion. But I spoke with my father (formerly US Air Force) and he told me that a military trial involving a former soldier might get a pass since they're technically a citizen, though circumstances would have to be special - the person being of importance and on trial for terrorist activities, for example. I was very specific with my questions ;)

So I think that since a) Shepard is a high-profile individual, and B) this is being done for the appeasement of another political power, that a live broadcast might not be out of the question. Thoughts?

Garrus is too cool and awesome for polls. Leave those popularity contest to lesser squadmates.

There are 2 big theories on the trial

a) Its gonna be a military trial, court-martial style. Shepard will be put on the sand and might very well reveal sensitive military informations or ask why the Alliance didnt do this and that. No way is it gonna be public and they certainly wont let your pet aliens and cerberus friends in.

B) Its gonna be a mock trial, broadcasted to appease ppl as far as Omega. Emily Wong and the other reporter (the one you get to punch a couple times)  will be there to harass you and make you look bad. Your dedicated crew will probably have better things to do to stop the Reaper arrival then watch you get chewed on screen or wave at you in the trial room.

So ya thats 2 completely diffrerent vibes. What will Garrus be doing?

First idea is that hes gonna go back to Palaven help his family/homeworld prepare. Or maybe if he feels helping somewhere else will save more ppl (someone proposed helping the Krogans a few days ago) he might go elsewhere. Hes renegade enough to pull that kind of logic.

My femShep romanced Garrus and Thane on a playthrough (I eventually gave each of them their own femShep), just so I could see how they reacted to the competition and being turned down. Both were gentlemen about being turned down (Garrus offered to go out and blow stuff up with femShep while Thane said he would still love her, but keep it to himself.)

Recently, I found a Turning Down Jacob scene on YouTube where the femShep turns him down in favor of Garrus. WOW - Jacob is a real d--- about it, and calls Garrus a "cuttlebone."

Isn't a cuttlebone the thing you hang in a parakeet's cage for it to sharpen its beak on? I don't get the reference at all, except it's meant to be derogatory.

Can someone clarify, please?

When I heard that reference I thought more about a turian's exoskeleton. I think Jacob was emphasising the fact that Garrus was an alien, and that he thought a relationship with him was unnatural. Given his background with Cerberus I think he would be less open minded about it than some.

And yes, I too found that Garrus and Thane were much more laid back and mature about it all.

Yeah, Jacob...doesn't really make a whole lot of sense there. Then again, racist comments rarely do.

I'm guessing he's referencing Garrus' exoskeleton, with an added reference to birds, seeing as how turians are sometimes described as having avian characteristics.

The thing is, the entire Arrival mission was supposed to be top secret. Publicising the trial would then also mean publicising the fact that the Alliance sent in a sneak mission into batarian space to retrieve ONE person who was engaged in dubiously legal activities anyway. Not sure public opinion would necessarily be on the side of the Alliance when details get out. And I'm pretty sure they don't need widespread panic/public outrage when they're trying to avoid a war on two fronts.

Which is why I think option a) is more likely.
