Don't know if you folks already know about this one, but someone over on tumblr recently took a flycam to the Presidium date and found this remarkable scene:

xelestial:

So once I saw in a modded video that Garrus and Shepard were actually holding hands in the ME2 scene before the forehead touch. Ever since then, I have been on a search to find the truths that likely everyone else already knows.

I started with this scene. I am so pissed because look, Garrus touches Shepard’s face here during this sentence, BUT THE CAMERA CUTS OUT ALL SEMBLANCE OF IT WITHOUT FLYCAM. Like, wtf. Don’t you know that every little word, touch, look, and expression means EVERYTHING to fans? Don’t you know you can’t screw with people’s OTPs?

Who the hell does the camera jobs anyway? They are obviously terrible. The animation isn’t polished but they could have at least shown half his arm going up to touch her face or something. Anyway, just wanted to share this tidbit with people like me who were clueless about this.

EDIT- Just want to say that this is not just a touch, but a loving caress as he says “would have been never getting to see you again.”

I actually saw it in-game, but that was probably because Lexane has her hair into a bun in ME3 so it doesn't hide Garrus's hand.

But yeah, it was really subtle.

I like my canon Shep a lot better though. Bad temper, but she's relatively sane.

Ooh nice! I'm going to listen to the control ending track all the time. :D

Agreed on the first, disagreed on the second ^^

Just listened to the control ending track, with the 'There is power in control' statement in Hale's voice in mind - the galaxy is doomed, at least for my betrayed-new-renegade Control Shepard. Creepy. And the Synthesis music reminds me too much of the circuit-decorated leaf on the ending planet. That little thing made it impossible for me to take that version seriously when I saw the 'green EC'.

Has anybody around here an idea what determines the 'squad screens' at the end of ME3? I wanted to collect them to replace the stargazer vid at the end (proof of concept uploaded as a project, for anybody wondering if it's worth the work), so I saw the endings multiple times, but the only 'pattern' I noticed was "Jacob, Kasumi, Zaeed, Samara" for Destroy, while additional shots for Miranda and Jack showed up in Control, and yet another Miranda shot for Synthesis. Okay, and Wrex / Grunt in all endings. Is there any logic behind, like 'missions done', 'talked to most in ME2' or similar? A dead squadmember will probably not appear, but if the rest can be influenced, I'd like to switch some for my canon Shepard.

Don't get me wrong, I find Control creepy as hell. But in a good way, if that makes even sense. Synthesis still makes my skin crawl and I will never touch it. (No offense, of course, to those who like that ending! It's very personal.)

About the squadmates, I have no idea. I didn't get the Jacob or Jack screen. Maybe because I rushed through ME2 and didn't talk to them that much, I don't know.

Karrie788. I think you r right re the squadmates. Though, I'm just doing another playthru of ME2 (with husband's male Shep (lol hate maleshep) just to get a diff exp. Am going to try being touchy feely with everyone and see if it has any impact.

I played through an ME3 a bit back and managed to save everyone. Want to do that again with the EC version.

EDIT:  Just been trying MP to get 100%.   Not that it will make the slightest diff but I can't be bothered doing all the grinder missions this time.    And my husband is feeling neglected lol.   Posted Image

Also in regards to romancing Liara I'm biased lol I can't answer that question in this thread, may have to duck for incoming tomatoes:P

I know.  I'm the same.  I wanted to know what Kaidan would say in hospital scene (romanced him in ME1) if you romanced Liara in ME2.  Little blue babies and all that.   Recent disaster with HDD's so ME saves a bit messed up.  Trying to find one with this combo to try ME3.   But seriously, any blokes out there who would just react like that to Shep lying....Yeah right.   Posted Image

I made my Riley Shepard opposite Garrus so basically she's a Paragade Vanguard with a Sniper rifle next to Garrus who is a Renegon Sniper who also happens to be a top hand to hand combat expert. I also gave her red hair and red-brown eyes to clash against Garrus and his sandy gunmetal color and blue eyes. I put way to much thought into this I know...

By the way, anyone else feel really bad for the Turian who sent his Asari mate and daughters to Sanctuary? I was like "Aww how sad, they have to say goodb - DON'T SEND THEM TO SANCTUARY, THEY'LL BE TORTURED BY CERBERUS!!!!"

Thanks for sharing.  It's one of the better parts of the game with Garrus up there.

I agree re the anim. it's really annoying in places.  Also the speech sync seems slightly off in ME3.  Sure it wasn't that bad before the EC.  Some of the dialogue has changed a bit in early part of game, just doing a quick 2nd playthrough, not sure if coz of EC or extra paragon score.

I felt bad for the lady with the daughter in the Embassy. FemShep just got back from Thessia mission and she's like, "Oh! We were able to get your girl to Thessia!" "Really?! <3! Thank you!" I was thinking, "WTH are you saying read the extranet news woman @_@;" Then I started imagining the poor little asari coming down to Thessia all happy that she's going to be safe...and then getting blasted by Reapers.

They need to fix that.

Yeah, that was bad too. Charr's death really got to me too. He was a Krogan who shouted poetry...why did he have to die? ;~;

I'm still totally headcanoning that Kal'Reeger lives and didn't recieve an off screen death. I finished ME2 recently and just how cute he is with Tali makes me completely deny his death. It never happened. Besides you can't always trust what you read on the Extranet... ;>>

Char's death was the worst. Only four places I actually, legitimately cried during the series; rejecting Garrus in ME2 (I feel like I punched a puppy/kitten/baby in the face), Char's death, Mordin's death, and then Garrus' goodbyes in ME3 (also EC).

Reasons why Garrus' rejection hurts me:
1. He brought wine. What other LI brings stuff? Anyone bring chocolates? Hmm? Flowers? No, just Garrus. Because he's a real gentleman.
2. He painstakingly selected music to set the mood (I crack up maniacally when I hear it now). He was really thinking about FemShep's comfort level. I think that's so sweet!
3. His body language. Watching him go makes me feel like I did something horribly wrong.

I could never ever reject Garrus. I'm always paranoid that'll I'll accidently hit the reject button. I almost did several times with that deceptive paragon choice that says 'I want to be friends'. If you don't read the other option it can sound like Shep is saying 'although I want to be lovers I still want us to remain friends no matter what'.

I play sentinel, the loneliest, least played class. Which is why I was ecstatic when I found out that that was one of the turian classes in MP. Though I know a lot of people want infiltrator...

Don't like Infiltrator in MP though. Sentinal is my second favorite out of all of them, and primary class in MP.

I have to play biotics. Everytime. Either adept or vanguard, and tried sentinel once. I just love feeling like a jedi. XD Soldier would be like playing a regular shooter, so I was never interested...

Hey all, I don't even know if this is the right place to ask this but I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a Garrus/Shep fanfic??

I have only read one and it was by Thessilian, "If you need me" was the title and I loved it.
Wondering if anyone knew of something similar only involving ME3. I am so old school I only have a work PC and my husband's gaming computer (that is apparently only used for Diablo now a days) so I print them out and read them at home... (or when my old iphone feels up to par, read it off that.)
:pinched:

Again sorry if this is in the wrong thread, just figured you all would have some of the best suggestions. <3

Romance is great, as long as it's in character.
I am a big girl so bring on the big girl ratings!

Alright, here we go. It's late and I don't remember every story perfectly, so if there's anything that's not ME3 onward, forgive me. I've recommended some fics that I haven't read either, just going on all the good reviews they have. I had forgotten how amazing "If You Need Me" was, now I'll be rereading it all day tomorrow. :D

Anyway, here we are:
  • Gestalt by Anne Whynn - Judging by the date, it's a pre-ME3 one but if I remember right it's really good.

  • Life Signs by Tarysande - Haven't read it, others seem to like it though. I'm pretty sure it's an ME3 one.

  • Sense and Flexibility by Roarkshop - This may have gone into ME3 by now, but I'm not sure, I've only read the first few chapters. It's a favourite though, been recommended in this thread before.

  • High class Hostage by FortyFourReasons - Post ME3 but I'm cheating here, it's kinda FShep/Garrus. Basically Liara gets pregnant with Shepard's kid during that mind meld on Earth, Shepard dies, and Garrus is left cleaning up the mess. It's good though.
  • Loved by Sia - Working my way through this slowly, I know Sia plans to go into Mass Effect 3 eventually, and it starts in Mass Effect 2. It's fantastic, I really reccommend it.
  • Things Change by Madsix - Might not be your cup of tea, but basically Shepard goes into a 5 year coma after the end of ME3 and Garrus decides to move on. When she wakes up... well, things have certainly changed.
  • Ante Up by GreenMamba5 - A bit AU, Garrus' family is on the Normandy. It's ME3 related though.

  • Reminiscence by Anonymous Moose - Retelling of Mass Effect, not sure where it's at right now, I think Tali's recruitment mission. I'm guessing it'll segway into ME3. Haven't read it, but by the raving reviews it gets I'm guessing it's good hehe.
  • Uncle Series by Quondam - I like Quondam's other stuff, haven't read this three-parter (it goes Uncle -> Mom -> Dad I think) because it's about them adopting kids and such, but you might like it.
  • Family Affair Series by Servantofclio - I love this author, especially this series. If you're looking for some happy happy post ending fluff, here you go. I know the whole thing is on the kinkmeme now, but I'm sure she'll be putting it up on AO3 soon too.
  • At the Bar by Budgie - One-shot, but fantastic. It's... not your typical story =)
  • Mostly Anon's stuff. Their fics are a wonderful read (especially that Tali/Kal one, it's adorable).
Is that it? Yes, that's it. Sorry I couldn't give much description on some of the longer ones, been really behind on fanfic reading and such. Anyway, hope this helps!

The one I started reading is All that comes after it's post-ME3 ending, and though I'm only starting it seems good. I'm not one for drama fics at all but so far so good. I'd recommend just browing descriptions and categories in ff.net, I find that much easier to know what to expect, you get a lot of info like hurt/comfort/frienship/angst chapter numbers theme etc etc. But it's just me cause I don't like lots of the more popular fics.

Hey, something I always wanted to ask, maybe someone could help me. Why is the general assumption that turian bodies are warmer than humans?
Palaven is 31°C only isn't it? I mean that's the normal temperature where I live. And I know the solar radiation levels are high but should that affect body temperature? What I thought was that because turians have barely any fat in their bodies, that they lose heat much more quickly than humans. Not that they are constantly warmer.

Well hi.
I used to post a bit in the ME2 thread...but I never got around to posting here.

Finally finished my main FemShep and Garrus PT, and had a great time (stunning things so Garrus gets free headshots is fun). Liked the romance a lot, like Garrus a lot, and hey I hold out hope that my FemShep and Garrus get back together again one day.

The Citadel Date was the single sweetest and romantic thing in basically any game for me. I smiled at all the times my Shep and Garrus reached for each other, comforted each other, and really seemed so close.

Even as a guy I proudly admit I squeed a few times.

May not mean anything by posting by I do feel its important to say that in spite of the ending, the Garrus romance arc really is my fave in the series.
Also some of the BEST voice acting Hale has ever done.

What is up, Garrus friends? I used to post in the thread from days gone by so I know you guys can help me out.

I noticed you guys were on the topic of fanfics. I've been so consumed with feels after the EC that I need to write something...Problem is, aside from it obviously being Garrus-centric, I just don't know what. Seems like it's all been done before, some well and some not so much. So! I call upon ye fanfic readers...As a reader, what do you/would you enjoy reading about, personally? What, in your opinion, hasn't been done, done enough (ex. Garrus on Omega, delving into his family life, etc), or done well enough (srsly, it's so hard to comb through fics when a great deal are just so....yikes :?)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. No point in writing if no one wants to read so who better to ask than Garrus fans! Thanks, guys and gals. <3

If you are interested in more suggestions regarding fanfiction, check out this older page of the Garrus thread, there are some posts about that topic. Probably on the page before and after, too. My own post there is badly formated, but back then I didn't know how to post these nice word-is-a-links ;)

I'd recommend most of those fictions already posted by flippedeclipse, too, with the exception of High class Hostage. Since you mentioned 'in character' as something you like to see in romances, I'd guess your taste is not too different to mine, and the warning / summary above is to be taken seriously. After reading the introduction (and nothing more) I had the sudden urge to overwrite my brain with rainbow-fluffy-bunny-stuff - and spend a whole playthrough glaring suspiciously at Liara. But that's just me, I tend to be pretty sensitive in the 'meh, that's not in character' department.

Edit: @Soltana: I am probably not the best to ask, since I am more in the 'hide behind a blanket' / xenoprude camp when it comes to the more explicit fanfictions, so not representative for the average reader ;)
Still, general things I like in fanfictions: Allow the characters to stay 'in character'. For me that's, for example, keeping the fundament of respect and friendship between Shepard and Garrus intact in non-AU-settings and making them develop respect and friendship in AU settings, no matter the additional romantic plot.
I can't get into tragedy settings. Rainbows aren't needed, but an everybody-dead-or-suffering ending to a fanfiction is, especially after ME3, not something I like to see.
Edit 2: Just realized you probably meant the topic, not the style. I'd love to see some more well-written family-related things, so Garrus' family, their reactions, perhaps Spacer-Shep's parents / mother... Solana is a favourite of mine, so anything related to her would be appreciated as well.

Hello Giggles :D squeeing is healthy, everyone should squee.

Soltana, I'm never turned off by something just because it's been done to death, really. I like reading different takes on the same things, I think none comes off the same way. (Though I do think you should write even if just for yourself :> just to have some fun!) edit: oh however I never liked the "Shepard's angry so they spar and then have sex" theme btw... (and my Shep can't even be mad at him, lol)

But I do have a few preferences, for example what I was talking about in past pages, most femSheps have a past with Kaidan, and I'd like to read more of a romance with Sheps who dated Liara or were single in ME1. I'd like to read something more "canon" when it comes to Shepard's personality also.

I totally understand putting personality in Shepard, as a writer, I'd do it too. But as a reader I often (not always) prefer when I can relate it to my story, and my Shep doesn't curse more than what she does in the game, and is mostly calm and nice (paragon-obi wan), so the more personality the Shep in the fanfic has, the more it clashes for me. That's why I appreciate when Shepard's eye/hair/skin color isn't mentioned and etc.

Lately I've been frustrated with fanfics cause it never matches my ideas, but I think if I get them out of my system, make some fanart/fic, I'd feel better and wouldn't mind as much (just haven't drawn in ages) XD

But I'm picky with fanfiction (and fanart), even though some are so popular I can't like them :S I avoid those fics about how everyone is trying to tear Garrus and Shepard apart, "will their love survive?? DUNDUNDUNDUN" (every fandom has them, lol), it's too soap opera-ish.

I like reading about most is anything humor, and flirtyness, cute romance stuff, and "what if" situations, happening differently from the games. I like some AUs (not really AUs, I just call "what if things had been completely different", AUs but they're still in the same setting) , and I like C-Sec Garrus (pre C-Sec?). I'd also like to read more of.. a femShep that is mad in love with Garrus from the start, or a Garrus that is silly in love with her from the start; from both POVs each, that would be amusing (I haven't seen this but I haven't hunted for fics in a long time). I'm just cheesy that way :P

I do like some darker stuff. I made up something that involves Shepard having gone through torture and Garrus finding her, and helping her deal (haven't written it tho). It's rare that I like drama and angst, but depends on how it's written. Even fics about character death or "everyone dies" can be written with little angst, the subject doesn't mean I need to feel like a masochist XD
Unbeliavable situations and OOCness if it's just for the lols and fun. (everything goes if it's for the funny)
Frienship with Joker. Only funny stuff can come from that.
More fics of the "mystery / thriller" kind.
And I love Garrus-POV. There should be more Garrus-POV. I could ramble more but I'm hardly being helpful, I know these are vague. I'm a bit sleep deprived, sorry x_x

ps. Also you could probably tell me what's up with turians having always-warm bodies in fanfiction o3o
