Mass Kink Fill recc: Variations on a Theme, with Tank and Gunfire
Shep is caught in a seemingly infinite loop of events starting with Eden Prime and ending at the Crucible with the Catalyst. Unable to break the cycle, each iteration finds her thrown in with a "new" version of each squadmate and ally, until in one loop she discovers she's not the only one in her situation...

Anywho, this fic is pretty fun. Also in a related vein is New Game. Also a fun read but text-heavier than the previously mentioned fill. Both are FShep/Garrus-centric. Both are in-progress. I just like the idea of things being done over until they are right. Because, endings. And reasons. And feels.

Agreed. In ME2 she wants a chance to say goodbye, which she gets. When she later starts to comment on Jacob, I got the impression that she 'gets better', so to speak, that she starts to accept the death of her love and begins to live again. I liked that storyline. In ME3 though, she may claim to "be nostalgic, not dead", but the obsession she shows seems unhealthy.
Edit: But its style is still nice, no matter the content

Just out of curiosity: If your Shepard survives the Reapers (be it 'canonically' through high EMS + Destroy or through any alternative ending for the Reaper War), what's your plan for the future?

Personally, I can see Shepard going into politics for a limited period after the war, since with all the chaos, she's one of the possible human candidates who should be well accepted by most others - after all, she's officially a hero now.


Though, as soon as the galaxy is halfway stabilized again, she'll only serve as an advisor, if needed,


and prefers to retire somewhere warm and tropical.

Christen and Celia are both soldiers through and through so, while they will lend a hand for the rebuilding efforts as soon as they're physically able to, possibly even taking charge if need be, when they won't be crucially needed anymore, they'll probably slowly fade from the public eye. They'll check up on things from time to time but, as soon as rebuilding can go withought a hitch if they're not there, SWEET BLISSFUL RETIREMENT!!

Of course, retirement with mister Vakarian by their side could range from hunting mercenaries for sport, to taking back Omega (if there's anyone left to take it back from), to having target practice every day with their new Krogan baby army.

Ironically enough, and despite having punched Kalisah twice during the trilogy, I can totally picture my Shepard becoming a journalist. The writing type, though, she's not that fond of TV. Maybe a few appearances, but mostly written articles. She's a hero now, people are bound to listen to what she has to say. :3

Maybe also be an advisor on occasions, but she honestly hates politics, although she knows it's a necessary evil.

Also and most importantly kids and kittens. And a retirement plan in Grasse, close to the beach, as soon as the galaxy is a little stabilised.

That Kasumi drawing is gorgeous visually but I wish the alternative one had her having fun on a hiest or something other than her brooding over the greybox. Samara's are vastly different depending on her loyalty.

My headcanon has changed- I imagine a year or so passing before the Normandy returns and people would have written it and its crew off as KIA. My Garrmancer would need something different to keep the ghosts at bay and something out of the limelight so she'll re-start Cerberus. Under a different name and how it should have been; humanity's sword not the knife in it's back.

I like that alternative Kasumi idea. Don't know about different Samara ending screenshots, though - I've only seen the one showing Samara and Falere (with flower) on an Asari-style world.

That's one awesome idea there.


Whenever I think about how much it would probably take for Shep to recover from her wounds and if it's possible she'll be a paraplegic for life I, somehow, always think of this:

Shep: A Reaper laser to the face that may/may not kill my squad and everyone around me, internal bleeding, shot by puppet!Anderson, getting engulfed in an explotion, buried under tons of rubble on the Citadel... 'Tis but a flesh wound!

I know what you mean. Kaidan's romance feels more like it's in its honeymoon phase (which has its appeal, mind you), with conflicts and everything. Garrus's feels more like they're already a solid couple.

Different flavours, but I like them both. I like Garrus better, obviously.

Shepard is somewhere outside the pic sleeping it off because she outdrank everyone and passed out (thanks to Cerebus, her rebuilt body chemestry has a high tolerance to all alcohol, but even she can go too far). Garrus took the photo. He also took some shots of Shepard snoring with her mouth wide open and an empty bottled cuddled to her chest, but he's saving that pic for a time when he can really make her squirm. Purely out of love of course.
