I imagine the colour can be different based on which is more visible for certain skintones.. but then there are turians like Li that have markings that blend in very well with the carapace colour so not so sure. Most dark-skinned turians have bright/light coloured tats so I figured the colour could vary while the actual shape is what designates the colony that the tat represents.

And I would assume all of Garrus' immediate family sport the same tattoos.

Yay, Valern! I don't care what anyone says, he's the best councilor ever after Anderson.

I imagine the dark skin, light tattoo combo is likely for contrast OOC, but that doesn't stop me from over-thinking IC possibilities. xD We've seen the same tattoos in different colors, so we know that color isn't part of the marking necessarily, but what if color is like a family signifier? That could be interesting. I guess we'll see what they come up with, provided the Vakarians make a cameo. ::hopes!::

@dannybates: Ah, okay. She's just very, very small in that other image. o_o I've never imagined turian females having significant size differences from the males given the supposed gender equality regarding combat and such.

I’m seeing a disturbing trend of desiring cutesy stuff for Shepard and Garrus. I really don’t want cutesy stuff: brushing hair, cuddles (not hugs, hugs are good ala the Appleseed gif), babies (I think that thing should be headcanon and not in the game). My Shepard doesn’t do cute. I just want to see Garrus and Shepard there for each other for everything. Adorkable Garrus was fun in ME 2. In ME 3 I want a confident and passionate Garrus. I want a Garrus that has never been so sure of anything in his life, that he and Shepard belong together, that they’ll die together (whether it’s today or when they’re old and frail). This obviously doesn’t need to be shown through heated make-out sessions. I’m pretty sure they would look silly and with clipping errors galore. I want to see things that also make sense in the game. Things that show they love each other and care about each other without staring mushily into each other’s eyes. They’re soldiers, professional badasses. I want to see them:

- checking each other’s armor before missions
-field stripping weapons together
-more touching in general (leaning on each other, helmeted and unhelmeted headbumps in the field before they go into combat, touching when asking if the other is ok [checking for wounds], and things like the romance scene in ME 2 during calmer moments aboard the Normandy)
-taking meals in the mess together
-in party banter filled with inside jokes or references to time spent together (if it’s subdued sexy I’m all for it [think Doctor 11/River Song banter])
-cut scenes where they favor rescuing each other (opposite of the table incident in LOTSB)
-meeting those who don’t approve of their relationship and defending it against them
-the crew recognizing, commenting on, and asking about their relationship (i.e. Mordin “Don’t Swallow” Solus, Kasumi “Go for it” Goto, Kelly “human-alien-relations” Chambers)
-And hell, I’d love a passionate love scene (more like Miranda’s) if they can get it to look good. I’d love to see Shepard’s legs wrapped around Garrus’ waist and him slamming her against the wall. OhdearI’matworkperhapsIshouldstopthistalknow.

These are just a few ideas of things I’d like to see. And I mean absolutely no offense to those who like the cute stuff. I’d just rather it stayed in fanfiction because it’s OOC for my view of my Shepard. Sorry for the novella! I just want BioWare and you guys to see my ideas. And, who knows, perhaps some of you will agree with some points.

I am in full agreement. The cutesy stuff is fine in fanart and fanfiction where settings and headcanon are limitless but given the context of ME3 and the threat of extinction of all sentient life.. yeah, I just want to see Garrus and Shepard doing what they do best: kicking arse and saving the day.

This would be so, so in-character for both of them and it would open the door for comments from other squad-mates as well. Plus we already know squad-mate banter is going to get a huge improvement so this is an excellent way to show some flirting/affection while on missions and the like. It will be nice to see more interaction outside of the usual chats aboard the Normandy.

With Garrus' confidence returning in ME3 (and there's every indication that it will be), a passionate scene makes sense. Once the pair of them are comfortable with each other (beyond the awkward interspecies stage of ME2) then by all means they should be able to express themselves more directly. I also strongly support Garrus on top or "in control" (not really liking that phrasing but can't think of a better way to say it) especially given what the SB dossiers say about his potential being higher than Shepard's (not that this relates at all to his love life but still..). A lot of fanart/fiction likes to put Shepard in charge and I can sort of understand why.. she is the protagonist and the initiator after all but.. just this once I'd like to see the LI taking the lead, you know?

 I agree. I'd love the LIs to be more assertive. I mean, I can see Shepard really wanting someone to take initiative. It's got to be tiresome to have to start everything. Plus, for my Shepard at least, she's so used to being the top dog in everything and not only that but having this sort of bubble around her. She's the commander and savior of the galaxy. Well, the savior could really stand to get truly and properly f*cked right about now.

Yay! im so with you on that. And im a girl  No need of too much cuteness. If thats what i wanted id have gone with an other LI (i know Liara talks about wedding and Thane sends you that very beatiful love letter. Fits them pretty well). Id like to see the string of badass and adorkable moments continue. But as you said, Garrus should be more confident and mature in ME3, to continue his personal storyline. So the adorkable moments could be i dont know... more on purpose from his part (sorry im not sure how to explain in English). 

Lots of the friendly stuff should stay in their relation, maybe Garrus should just be a bit more protective (he hasnt got a lot of good things in life + hes kinda short tempered about personal things). I dont see him being big on PDA but he has passion on the battlefied, he can probably show that in private.

That goes for me too. I'd like some interactions as suggested in your post. I don't particularly care to see the fluffy stuff. No kids or wedding. I'd like for Bioware to leave something up to us and our imaginations. There just seems to be a strong push for Bioware to spell out ever single thing on-screen, but I prefer to do a bit of my own interpretation/ imaginings.

Yes yes, I also agree with non cutesy!
no adoption, no marriage, uh, no hair brushing (my Shep doesn't even have hair)
 but like the last few posts have stated, Yes to inside jokes/ innuendo and Garrus being assertive.
I definitely see Garrus as a protector, and probably more so with Shepard because he knows what it's like to lose her.

I hope we get a chance to see Shepard be vulnerable with Garrus. Let him see her when she's feeling weak and maybe have him jokingly reassure her that "she's only human":alien:

um. soldiers can be cutesy. i speak from experience.  dont just assume tht because they kill people for a living and get blown up occasionally that they dont like to cuddle and be cuddled.

in fact, half the time they need it more. please don't assume things.

Yes, yes, of course I didn't mean that. I was thinking more about fluffiness while they're fighting. That would be... I don't know. 

I prefer hugs, though. And, you know, some tender scene in Shepard's cabin, in private. I don't need obvious words, love can be expressed in many ways
