I'm a newbie to kinda everything ME related (only got around to playing ME1 & 2 cuz I'll be off to Japan for a year soon and my laptop graphics card isn't really the most polished gem in the loot box so I obsessed over them for the past month on my high-tech monstrosity of a desktop that I can't take with me

The tone of the post was negative, Mes. I literally did a double-take when I saw it, because, really, no, "Hey, that's really cool that someone did some art for your fic, without being paid!" or anything. Just pointing out something that really didn't need pointing out.
EDIT: And to clarify, there isn't necessarily anything wrong with expressing a negative viewpoint; however, one should not be surprised when someone else takes issue with it. There are also many ways to express negativity without actually being rude.

You're applying the ideas of eye-to-eye semantics to text-based internet communication. In real life we have vocal tone and body language to broadcast what we're actually saying beyond the spoken word, whereas plain text on a web forum can be interpreted as both harmless or hostile depending on your viewpoint, mindset and prejudices against the person talking.
I'm going to say this only once more: I had NO negative intentions whatsoever with my post, and I find it insulting that you would just assume that it was without actually asking me what I meant.
