In my opinion MP could add depth to an already amazing game and without it being a distraction from the SP experience we all know and love i say go for it!

Why can't people just leave the trilogy alone?

This. If this is forced in, I'll guarantee a riot bigger than the Rodney King Scandal in 1992.

Honestly though, have you not played AC: Brotherhood or UC2/3? (Well, probably not 3 yet

The real question for me is how could you make a Mass Effect multiplayer work, I know I found Star Wars Battlefront to be a lot of fun and would definitely considering getting a Mass Effect version of it should one be released.

Or instead of a crappy MP DLC we could just wait until the inevitable spin-off ME game which would almost certainly have MP. A spin-off dedicated to MP would be infinitely better for everyone involved, rather than forcing MP into a system not designed for it.

I don't think they'd put it in if it wasn't at least decent, I trust Bioware that much, but it'd be much better if it was it's own separate entity altogether. Honestly, though, I don't think we really have to worry about it being in ME3, I can't see it actually happening.

Sign on, pick a species/alliance, pick a role, go kill other species/alliances in hilarious missions and/or raids. Or you can start inter-species clans/merc groups with friends and go raid or kill people. It'd be pretty sweet. You can change whenever you want, whatever.
Krogans would be combat-focused, Soldier/Vanguard loadouts
Asari would have biotic-focused Sentinel/Adept loadouts
Salarians would have tech-focused Engineer/Infiltrator loadouts
Turians would have combat-focused Infiltrator/Soldier loadouts
Humans can have any loadout but will inherently have less "power" than other races (trade efficiency for flexibility)
It'd pretty much have to be a stand-alone DLC or full game though (I can see full game to maximize the cash involved), mostly because there's absolutely no way something that epic would be fleshed out by launch.

Decisions- The way the conversations work in Mass Effect, Shepard is given options of what choices to make and based on those choices, form how the game plays out. Since the dialogue is directed at Shepard to make the decisions, kind of hard to see how MP/Co-op could work around this. Plus, when on the Normandy what would the co-op player do in the mean time while Shepard is making rounds on the ship to speak to the crew?
Also, BW already stated the MP/Co-op was a no go for the trilogy based on the fact that it would drive the game in the direction of becoming a Shooter, when it is suppose to be an RPG. A Lot of fans got upset with ME2 because the changes to it took away from the RPG aspect. For ME3, they are re-focusing on bringing the RPG aspect back into the game.

and as far as powers i dont have the full thought out but with the exception of maybe adrenalin burst all the powers should work fine in mp
listen i dont want to force a louse mp but it think bw can pull it off and as i said before i think it could add some depth to the ip as a whole

How much would there be fighting-game style ways to tech or soften the impact of powers, if any? How balanced would gun-based styles, melee-based styles, anything not power-based be compared to Engineers and Adepts? (No preference myself, but anyway) And how would the inevitable (really freakin loud) argument between the people who enjoy playing ME for the RPG elements, versus the RTS elements, versus the shooter elements be mediated by the developers?
Of course, I'd be making the assumption there that powers are involved much at all, and that we're not something like red-shirt grunts from certain factions or something more on that line. Hmm.. cerberus vs alliance maps.. geth vs quarians setups.. my head spins with the possibilities.
I'd hate to be the guy who has to decide whether to keep all assets focused on the single-player, or try to divert some to put together a fun multiplayer bit, however short-lived it might be.
edit: Beat to the punch by Ezrafeth, exactly. the kind of thing I had in mind.

I do not understand why people want multiplayer in a very decidedly single-player game. It has no purpose, adds nothing to the game, and wold only serve to ****** me off. It is an expensive recipe for distaster that would not end well for anyone.
And stop making threads about it. Seriously. Just stop.
