Well, to put it lightly: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I do not understand why people want multiplayer in a very decidedly single-player game. It has no purpose, adds nothing to the game, and wold only serve to ****** me off. It is an expensive recipe for distaster that would not end well for anyone.
And stop making threads about it. Seriously. Just stop.
ME3 multiplayer. terrible idea or stroke of geniuse

And the multiplayer in those games added what exactly to the single player portion of the game? Yeah, nothing. The multiplayer itself wasn't really that great either, but at least it didn't actually take away from the single player that much.

The only multiplayer this game should ever consider (and then only if it's somewhat easy to incorporate) is 2-3 player co-op, since the squad AI has always been pretty awful in these games. Otherwise, no thanks.SilentNukee wrote...

It didn't take away from the single player experience AT ALL. Which is why it's a great thing, because it acted as an added little bonus that you can do once you're done the main story and/or are just bored and trying to kill time.
I'm personally not looking forward to ME strickly MP games if that's what they have in mind for the future. At least, I find the transition from the ME trilogy to that would be awkward at first. Wouldn't stop me from buying it, though.

Biotics is rare amongst krogan, very rare. It makes no sense for vanguard to be their speciality.ezrafetch wrote...
I think a multiplayer in the style of RDR would be pretty cool especially with the way factions/species have been fleshed out lore-wise.
Sign on, pick a species/alliance, pick a role, go kill other species/alliances in hilarious missions and/or raids. Or you can start inter-species clans/merc groups with friends and go raid or kill people. It'd be pretty sweet. You can change whenever you want, whatever.
Krogans would be combat-focused, Soldier/Vanguard loadouts
Asari would have biotic-focused Sentinel/Adept loadouts
Salarians would have tech-focused Engineer/Infiltrator loadouts
Turians would have combat-focused Infiltrator/Soldier loadouts
Humans can have any loadout but will inherently have less "power" than other races (trade efficiency for flexibility)
It'd pretty much have to be a stand-alone DLC or full game though (I can see full game to maximize the cash involved), mostly because there's absolutely no way something that epic would be fleshed out by launch.

Not really aware of the entirety of the lore. Even given a lack of common biotics, there'd have to be some sort of balance in terms of gameplay. Seemed to make the most sense. You can balance by either giving every Krogan player weak biotics or randomly generate Battlemasters with biotic capabilities. I wouldn't want to see Krogans become Immunity spammers...
I also thought up the entire MP experience in <2 minutes, so there's going to be some major issues...especially since I literally almost forgot about the turians
You could also include Geth, even, but I'm not sure how that would work, there'd probably be way too much overlap given their skillset.

Mass Effect is the best single player game this generation of games. Why ruin it with a gimick like MP? The co-op in both Fable II and III were awful. Worked at times, but was more of headache. All of this just to make you collect crap with others via MP just ruined the Fable franchise in my view.StowyMcStowstow wrote...

Hell to the nth degree NO!
I don't play many MP games, because the story usually blows and they tend to put too much focus on the MP. Again.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
EDIT: Now if BioWare wants to make another Mass Effect and make that MP, I would actually be ok with it, but not anything that deals with Commander Shepard's trilogy.

I would hate a half arsed addition or DLC that did mplay badly and neutered all the characters skills for single play at the same time, in order to make them work for mplay.

Wouldn't be that difficult to create, nor would it consume a lot of time or resources. Some of the tasks (or the majority of them) could even be outsourced to one of EA's other studios, such as DICE.

This argument is 100% completely pointless, Casey Hudson said long ago there will be no multiplayer in ME3... what's the point in discussing a feature that isn't going to happen?
Just let this dead horse die already, its rotted, fetid corpse has been flogged enough.

Why can't it be a gameplay element that some people may wish to take advantage of and others will skip over in the menu options?

Because it really is a one or the other thing.
Multiplayer takes away from time in crafting a single player story. It would change everything. It isn't as easy as just letting your buddy take over as one of your npcs. It would be two Sheps trying to play a story and share story choices................or it would be an entire game within the game that is ONLY co-op mplay story.
Those things really do matter and take time, and will take time and resources away from crafting a proper awesome ending to this trilogy.

This. Every game that suddenly dropped in multiplayer "just because" ended up half-assing single-player.
Resident Evil 5: Co-op is MANDATORY for harder difficulties (i.e. Partner A.I. is that useless.)
Halo 3: Flood Infantry eraticcaly turn invincible DUE TO A GLITCH for campaign just because of the extensive focus on multiplayer, X-Box Live, and 4-player Co-op.
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood: Whatever hard-core fans I know of were disappointed with the campaign.
