and i love the conversation with him just before the SM. about calling his favorite nephew cause he needs something smaller to focus on. the galaxy's just too damned big.
Mordin has some seriously weighty lines. his character is so very very ... deep is the wrong word. layered, i think, works better.

"Having trouble working between your interruptions and EDI's insistence that 'insane' experiments endanger entire crew. Hard to concentrate. Affecting morale."
Seriously. He says this stuff with such the seriousness of a scientist and the complete lack of humor in his voice makes it even funnier.

Obsydian brings the other side of Mordin into play quite nicely, too. He's a three-dimensional character with countless quirks but some real bitter in his sweet.

He's personally my top favourite character in ME2. Everything that comes out of his mouth is just priceless. He delivers funny lines and yet can be serious when need be. He rocks the Salarian Scientist and I still can't forget how he casually clears his throat after singing it. Plus, he's the only one giving advices to Shep when Shep wants to get it on with the LIs.

I'm glad he's in ME3 and although I generally favour LIs as squadmates, of the non LIs Mordin is absolutely at the top of my wish list.

So, Mordin... to genophage or not to genophage, that is the question?

He is one of my favourite squadmembers in ME2 and I am happy that we see him again in ME3! Hopefully he will come with us on the Normandy so that we can talk with him often.

Yes, I think the genophage should be cured but it's not urgent like fighting the reapers so I'm not sure if it's what Mordin should be focusing on... but if he doesn't who will?
The genophage is an issue that could be dealt with in future ME titles.
I'm kind of hoping Mordin's been busy working on a cure for Keprals Syndrome:D

I'm just borrowing the computer right now so no big updates to the OP, but I think I'll add both posted pics to it as part of the formatting process. Three cheers for Mordin Solus deserve three great angles!

That last part would be quite cool. I like Thane quite a bit too.
As for the genophage issue, I'd agree with your assessment but at the same time I can really see curing the krogan being at least a short-term major assist in the war effort against the Reapers. Not because billions of krogan are going to suddenly pop up in time to help so much as the fact that the krogan people might feel a lot more inspired about uniting with one-another in a galactic front if they heard the good news.
Of course, there's also the nasty side effect.

Did we ever find out how he lost his one horn on his head?
Saving the day, during an STG mission. There is a reason Mordin prefers to get the job done and go home, that's all I'm writing.
And it's spoilerific, but here is the Dossier from LotSB with an STG mission report chronicling the events in question (Mordin's scars). So you can use this link for spoilers, but I'm not sure how much spoiling is allowed so here: http://masseffect.wi...r._Mordin_Solus

Mordin excells at walking that precarious line of grey morality while remaining a very likable character, and I think that both paragon/renegade leaning characters benefit from taking a page from his book.
With genophage... interestingly enough, after trying out playing the genophage related dialog on the ship and his loyalty mission paragon style, I just can't do it anymore. Shep just appears like such a naive dolt there. Most of the time I'm either agreeing with Mordin, or go neutral route ignoring paragon/renegade nets. Throwing away the cure data research feels like a waste, however.
On a lighter note... "Please, Shepard. Social, environmental concerns accounted for. Not an undergraduate..."
I snorted the first time I heard that. You, know, being an undergraduate working with research data for statistics

It would certainly help with diplomacy, I think I would prefer it if the intent to cure the genophage was established between the Salarians and Krogan rather than the cure having been actually found. This could also leave the potential for this promise being betrayed in the future which could be interesting.

He proves that renegade doesn't automatically equal "jackass". He still follows an "ends justifies the means" philosophy, at least up to a point (Maleon crossed that point, in fact). So he's at least somewhat renegade without being a complete jerkass.
