We saw it coming, some didn't want to believe it, but here it is. Let's just hope the new VA is at least half as good as Beattie was...

Edit: I don't intend to understimate the new guy's job, but he's going to have a hard time gaining the community approval given the situation.

I felt bad that Mordin's role was supposed to be small for the third, but taking away Beattie too; It's really a shame...

Hello XPrincess (aka Hannah)!


Thanks so much for your kudo's and praise for my work as Mordin in Mass Effect 2.


To tell you the truth, there were a number of times during recording when Ginny(Ginny McSwain the voice director) and I looked at each other after a take and mouthed a "Wow" or 'raised eyebrows and 2 thumbs up' through the glass at each other. I had that glorious feeling of 'connecting' with a character that doesn't happen all that often -and for me, never before in a videogame .


It was particularly gratifying for me that those same moments that resonated for me 9 months prior (alone in a booth with a Voice director and 2 engineers on the other side of the glass) - were the same moments that gamer/fans so responded to and talked about
-and reviewers as well.


I'm not sure how this will all turn out in the end -but please accept and pass along my thanks to all the fans who have
written and petitioned (and berated and cajoled and hounded and boycotted and screamed at, etc, etc...) Bioware on behalf of my returning as Mordin. I appreciate you guys!


However it turns out, I remain grateful to have had the opportunity to help create such an iconic character
..... - to 'give voice' to the 'very model of a scientist Salarian'!

He sure sounds convinced he isnt coming back. And thats whats really saddening.
If I can, and when Bioware decides to be nice too me and let me post images, ill remove the copy and paste and replace it with the picture of the email.

Whatever the reasons at this point, I'd really like to hear from BW about why they made the decision. Would they really not even make an offer? I have a hard time seeing that, but not much makes sense about this.

I may just have to metagame a save file for import now that has Mordin not surviving ME2. I will relish such a save, and face the consequences of such an action, as both homage and farewell. It wasn't just the script that drew me to the character, you just can't throw a Gilbert and Sullivan number and expect it to be pulled off, the VA was outstanding.

If the VA is not the same I simply would rather not have the Salarian doctor survive the mission at all.


No I'm not implying that, but Bioware rarely comments on outside sources.   I'm basically going to into the same mindset, first I'm going to save him, but if I don't like the way his voice is portrayed in the third one, then I'll just use another playthrough with him gone, unfortunately.

Best guess? They've made a decision that they can see is going to anger fans (maybe even cost them money) for whatever reason and they don't want to confirm it. And yes that glass is half empty!
