We would not even have this type of topic if it wasn't for the LotSB DLC where Liara asks Shepard if this all ends tomorrow what about us? And happily ever after response is marriage, old age, lots of little blue children.demonic_cookie wrote...
Oh hell no. No wedding, no way, no how. We are working to save the whole galaxy, the final shot would be Shepard, victorious, among all the races of the galaxy, celebrating sticking it to the Reapers. Cheapening it and making a love story out of the whole thing is just... No.
Soldiers get married all the time. My half-sister is getting out of the Navy on the 5th and her husband still has three more years before he gets out. They don't live in the same state, but make it work. Nothing wrong with getting married and not always being together.

Ending the game with a wedding when the game is about SAVING THE GALAXY is diminishing the heroic effort of all the people involved, and diminishing all the casualties of the incredibly intergalactic war that was sure to be ME3's plot. I was iffy on it when Dragon Age did it with Cousalnd/Alistair, but that at least had some political bearing on the situation. Shepard's love life is irrelevant. The big Happy Ending that the character gets should be about the prevention of organic life's extinction.
Shepard and LI can plan to get married, they can set the date for all I care, there might be a small note in the epilogue about their little adorable children, but the game is not about living happily ever after with your lawfully wedded squeeze, and the ending should stay on topic.

I didn't miss your point. No one can say how ME3 is going to end. It will have different endings. I never said they would marry at the beginning of the game. Which I highly doubt, but there could be that ending for those that want it.demonic_cookie wrote...
I know about LotSB. I romanced Liara, and answered her with the babies line, and it will probably happen for that Shep if she doesn't get herself killed during ME3. I also know that soldiers get married. You are missing my point.

If Shepard's love life irrelevant, then Shepard wouldn't have any LI period. This is the end of Shepard's story arc. I not sure if you get that.

Assuming all interested parties survive. It would be nice to see that in the epilogue.
Another poster commented that Shepard is going to be a bit busy with other matters and I agree that it really wouldn't be good to put it in the game as an actual cinimatic, but if Shep and the LI both survive then as Metal Gib said, it would be nice to see it in the epilogue. Garrus would totally be my Shepard's best man.

And I'm not sure if you get that ending the game with a wedding detracts from the general theme of the game. As I said, put it in the epilogue if you want, but the ending should be about saving the galaxy and not how nice the wedding dresses are.

Shepard: We saved the Galaxy. Let's go to Vegas and get married right now.
Just because Shepard mentioned marriage doesn't mean they should add it. A lot of couples have the marriage talk yet die of old age without being married.

Very good post. Even I like romances in games, I don't think, that this kind of ending ( wedding scene) will fit to the story and to my Shepards. Hope, if there will be something like marriage / wedding things in game it will be only ademonic_cookie wrote...

few words at the end of game or at last it will be full optional . I would prefer ratcher to see big party with my team in Afterlife with a lot of beer , Asari dancers, a few hundsome soldiers etc

ReallyRue..optional, of course
Anyway don't You all think it could be great to have a few optional " happy" endings ( we will not talk about ultimate sacrifice or others grimm things). Weddings for those who want it, big party for others, escape into sunset. Hell, one of my Shepard would be happy if she would be able to grab Joker, stole Normandy ( again..) and fly far away from Alliance, Council, crazy fans etc...

It would be incredibly cheesy and facepalm worthy, not to mention that the last thing Shepard should be doing while saving the universe, is taking a break to have a wedding ceremony.
If there is any mention of marriage at all it should be in a character epilogue.

Joker: Oh, Hell yeah!
Priest VI: And you, Enhanced Defense Initiative, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?
EDI: Daisy, Daisy... Give me your answer, do... I'm half crazy... All for the love of you...
Joker: What the s***?!

But, like people mentioned, only if it's optional... and it should apply only to the human LIs (just imagining Garrus in a tuxedo makes me LOL).
