So what if we don't destroy the reapers. what if by uniting all of the races of the galaxy for one single worthy cause shows the reapers that they were wrong about organic senintent life. What if by bringing peace and stability to the galxy thorugh this unification the reapers realize the error of there ways and change their minds. And of course Shepard delivers a huge epic speech about the good thats capable in all forms fo life. Yeah. What if?

I don't think that the Reapers are capable of singing Kumbayah.

What if Shepard constructed a giant picture of Sten with the word "No" plastered on it on the side of the planet and the Reapers saw that and just left?

I would puke:)

So these benevolent Reapers have wiped out zillions of lives for possibly millions of years, just waiting for some space hippies to sing a song of peace together?

But hey, I am no discounting your idea as plausible. I will be interested in seeing how we(the galaxy)can defeat the numbers we saw that are coming, when it took almost every advanced ship we had to defeat a single reaper ship. It may well be something like the reapers quit on their own, rather than us actually winning via force.

Whatever happens, I trust Bioware to not make it a computer or biological virus trope:)

I don't think a race of sentient machine gods that periodically annihilates all organic life in the galaxy to watch it begin anew is really big on the whole peace by numbers thing.

Shep: -and that's how we can all work together!
Harbinger: Wow, that really hits us where we live.
*blasts Shepard and crushes the remaining allied millitaries*
Harbinger: Bu this is far more efficient... and fun.

Are you saying that Bioware just lets all of the tension, politcal dealings, and moral choices that shaped the face of the known universe amount to a friendship speech?

well personally, I'd find it rather ridiculous and a bit cheesy, but then again, the secret ending of KOTOR (spoilers) is you turning Malak into a dancing twilek so I guess with  bioware it's possible.

Everyone knows that the reapers will let Marvin command them causing them all to question the point of their life and be all depressed

This isn't a troll thread. It's an interesting discussion at a philosophical level. For it to work to a satisfactory level it would need a very compelling story hook rather than just paragon charming them into coexistence. If the Reapers were actually created for a specific purpose and organic life solved the problem in a different way something might work.

Imagine there's no Reapers... the Turian Councillor can.
Imagine there's just people... Asari, Krogan, and Man.
Imagine all the Quarians... living, outside of, su-hoo-hoo-ho-uits..

You can say, I'm a dreamer - but I'm not the only one.

So what if we don't destroy the reapers.

Then BioWare made a mistake.

If we don't destroy the Reapers here then the whole point of the trilogy is lost. This was the story about how Commander Shepard defeated the Reapers, by either Paragon or Renegade means. If Shepard merely stops or impends the Reapers a little so there could be a second protagonist later to fight the Reapers.

...

...

...I just wouldn't care. It would feel cheap. I love the Mass Effect world. I'm positive there's more than one big story to tell in that universe.

I won't be letting them off that easy after all the damage they caused, even if they are sorry.
