It would be dissapointing if nothing came of it at all. Though if something were to come of it, I'd want it to be significant, i.e. it actually makes a difference.

maybe... just maybe... the minerals were used in an experimental weapons research project and resulted in a full line of weapons from smg, pistol, assault rifle, shotgun and sniper... and we get them. YES.

Not having a pay off is understandable.
Not saying whenever this will have a pay off or not, however, is downright sadistic. This quest has the highest ratio of pointless outcome to required effort for completion I have ever saw in a single player RPG. It has zero purpose in ME1, it has zero purpose in ME2. In a series that emphacizes continiuity and that "your actions in previous games matter and will carry over."
Can we get an actual answer as to whenever the single worst designed quest in this game has an actual consequence so it is worth doing it or if it is possible to finally ignore it with a peace of mind?

Even though I haven't completed any of the collection quests, it would be nice if they resulted in bonus content in ME3, just so those players who went through the trouble are rewarded.

And they are doable by going for the other quests/sidequests too. Not bad for fetch quests. I wish they do give us something for completing them because I even had some excess, like 23 rare minerals found of 20. OCD rulez! =)

I hate to revive a dead thread, but the Asari Writings does have an impact in 3. It allowed Conrad Verner to Analyze the schematics and give you extra War Assets.
