During gameplay the game runs pretty smoothly, but then during cutscenes, it slows down -- frame by frame.

I'm running DAOrigins v1.04 on:

Core i5 430 M
4GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
500GB HDD

Any way to optimize/fix this issue? I really can't enjoy the cutsenes like that

Basically, you need a much more powerful GPU. An HD 5470 just isn't very good at all (slower than the official minimum Radeon for small textures). If your display will work at a lesser resolution, you'll have to choose that, since it's no longer within the realm of current laptop design to be able to change graphics.

Without a proper problem report, and therefore very little information to use, there's no way to guess how effective the drop to a lesser resolution might be.

This question could have been eliminated before buying the game, had this author looked up the forum's "Can You Run It" thread ahead of time:

I used to play with a Mobility Radeon HD 5470, and there isn't much else to do besides turning down the resolution and other graphics options. You could try updating to the latest drivers from AMD; they included a performance fix for Dragon Age: Origins a while back.
