also please DONT promote shepard to captain. captain shepard just sounds weird. he'll always be commander shepard. the whole bit on talis loyalty mission where everyone was calling me captain i was really weirded out.

There's that old argument again.  Listen, Shepard deserves a promotion more than anybody (ME1, nuff said), and who ever heard of a Commander being in charge of a ship anyway?  He is the captain, no doubt about it, and his rank should reflect that.  As to the other argument, that Spectres being outside of the Alliance Navy, that doesn't make any sense.  Shepard was working for the Alliance at the beginning of ME2.  He never left.

Exactly! When Hacket told Shepard when Earth calls, show up in your dress blues and take the hit, he didn't mean his Cerberus dress blues or his Spectre dress blues. Shepard was always in the Alliance and was on detached duty and given the liberty assign his own missions. He could have resigned his Alliance commision and would have only been accountable to the counsel as a Spectre, but Shepard never resigned and Hackett never asked for it.  He did double duty during ME1 answering to the counsel as a spectre and Hacket as an Alliance Commander.

Or Captain, but yeah he needs to be bumped up.

eww no.

he'll always be commander shepard. thats the way its supposed to be. hwo weird would it be to start being called captain?

Wouldn't be weird to me. After all Sheps done he should get a promotion.

He's on trial for War Crimes. I don't think they could fit in a promotion in the third game.

I find it odd that she (or Kaiden) would be promoted after her failure to get the guns on line on Horizon.

It seems to me that getting a colony abducted due to your incompetence isn't the best method for career advancement.

Honestly I'm amazed she didn't end up with a dishonorable discharge.

Well for starters, the colony was not in Alliance terriotory and VS was simply sent there as an olive branch, so why would they be held responsible, especially since they were ambushed by a threat the Alliance was specifically denying?

Maybe Anderson had a say in it besides he is the one who sent her to investigate

She was sent as a representative of trust, not as a technician. She was sent officially to show the colonists that the Alliance still cares (like the USA sending troops to allied nations as a measure of trust). Unofficially she was an investigator into both Cerberus and the missing colonist activities. She succeeded in both regards. And even if she hadn't, I doubt you'll be court martialed for being ambushed

I beg to differ. With so many ships wiped out in the first wave the Alliance will need all the Captains they can get.

I don't see why not.  Say Anderson or Hackett (or - giggle - Mikhailovich) brevets Shep as a Captain after the trial, when it's clear that kissing up to the batarians is about the last thing on anybody's mind.  Maybe it happens on Mars, as Shep is getting everything together.

Cerberus spies are the least of their problems. The bigger threat is indoctrinated sleeper agents.

If she was sent as a representative of trust then she failed there since she only suceeded in showing the colonists that the Alliance was powerless to defend them.

As for succeeding in investigating Cerberus and the missing colonists, I feel the need to point out that she wouldn't have been alive to make the report if Shepard and co hadn't saved her.  So she failed there to.

Her job was to get the guns online and she didn't get it done and as a result the colony got abducted, that sounds like grounds for a court martial to me.

Honestly I don't want her or Kaiden back on my squad.  They're incompotent and disloyal and they had the ****ing audacity to call me a traitor after I came in and saved their life and half of the colony that they were supposed to be protecting.  Screw em.

I just hope she doesn't go from quoting poetry to doing Beavis and Butthead impressions. If so, I hope there's an option to jettison her into the nearest star.
