To be honest, the idea of the child dying in the way he does (read the link in one of the above posts to find out how), makes the story all the more immersive and emotional. You don't actually see anything gruesome. But it adds a layer of emotional depth that really puts you in the mindset of what Shepard is feeling and going through.
Yeah, I feel the same way. Of course you know kids will be dying. It’s a terrible thing, but it does make you feel the scale of what you’re fighting for. Makes it more of an emotional impact, at least for me--so I am glad they added this.

I tried to kill a child with a chainsword in Fallout 3, chased the little bugger around the town where the Antagoniser and robot dude is.
People actually feel emotional about this in games? I understand getting emotional about real children suffering and video's of them like Red Nose day but upset about children dying in games?
What makes children dying so different to average people dying in games? They are all human only difference is age.
You are all fine with innocent people being run over, getting gun down and killing an entire family in a game. (Not generalising everyone had done this but i bet pretty much the entire BSN has killed civilians for money, gave money to prostitutes, nuked Megaton, did genocide agaisnt the Rachni, sold drugs and did drugs in-game.)
If you played Fallout 3: The Pitt, you actually steal a child. Did people get sensitive over that? I thought it was funny along with the dialogue choice : 'Yoink!'
Overall, why do people care? It's a game. Innocent digital people die all the time, the majority of games these days involves violence agaisnt people. Suck it up.

Why do people get so sensitive about children dying, sex etc etc in video games? It's not real.

Exactly. Let's actually cry over the real people dying.

Wait a minute, Casey Hudson said that the kid in the vent managed to reach a shutle and escape Earth.Correct me if I'm wrong.
No, he reaches the shuttle, and as it's escaping, a Reaper blows it sky high.

The laser cut through the shuttle, spilt a civilians head in half, killed the driver, burnt the child, pregnant woman exploded, sizzled a few other civilians, laser hit fuel or whatever shuttle uses to fly. Shuttle explodes, remains get scattered in forms of small particles and they get gobbled up by germs, germs get swallowed by Humans and used for breaking up food and then come out of the Human as a pile of feces. The end.

Forget about the kid in the pipe! What about the billions of other children on Earth?
Who cries for the children, young dreaming stargazers?
Who cries for the children, disintegrated by phasers?
Who cries for the children, mutilated and mauled?
Who cries for the children, taken and transformed?
Who cries for the children, killed in their sleep?
Who cries for the children, buried under concrete heap?
Who cries for the children, that will never have a coffin?
Who cries for the children, those that God has forgotten?

1. The child doesn't die for your sick entertainment; it happens to tug your heart strings and make you emotionally connected to how grave the situation is.
2. According to the IGN article where it was said that this happened, you don't actually see the child die - you see the shuttle he's in get destroyed. That's hardly over-the-top.

Fallout 1 & 2 I believe has the option to kill off children (thus has the 'childkiller' reputation)
Grandia 2 = one of the demons possesses a little girl and you have to fight her monstrous form

lol I always found those scenes funny since no matter how bad the adults are the kids are the ones who are actively engaging in violence and illegal activities. I love the earlier simpsons episodes, unfortunately its humor is so complex that when people laugh they don't know they're laughing at themselves. I know this is off-topic but I dont give a damn^_^Hathur wrote...
I'm so deeply sorry... really am... but it hasn't been posted yet... again, many apologies, but it has to be done.
