Who do you want to be the protagonist for DA3?

If it will indeed be Hawke, I will likely not be picking up this game.

You can fully customize Hawke, unless you also mean being able to pick your race.Xayoz wrote...
A completely new character, hopefully a one you can fully customize (unlike in DA2).

No you can't. You couldn't fully customize even your Warden, but you could customize warden to a greater degree than Hawke, who did say lines completely without player input and at leats on one occasion said about the complete opposite thing that I would have had him say, with Warden you didn't have these moments - sure, sometimes you had to pick the least worst dialogue option but, still, it may be a small difference, but it still does exist.Mr.House wrote...
Someone new, though I do hope they wrap up Hawkes tale in an expansion/dlc.You can fully customize Hawke, unless you also mean being able to pick your race.Xayoz wrote...

Yes, I meant the race and origin.Mr.House wrote...

Also, if possible, i'd very much like to make a charcter that is not some 'benevolent hero' that butchers every bloodmage he comes across.

For one, I'd love to see the origins concept come back. Different backgrounds requires a new character.
For another, by the time we're through any DLC and expansion for DA II, my Hawke had better become distinct enough and made enough choices that make a real difference, that there'd be too much diversity in canons to build a new game on it (part of why using the warden in DA II wasn't really feasible).
Last, while I was able to find an agreement with my Hawkes so far, I didn't completely connect with them, and their stories weren't all that great to me. I'm hoping for something fresh for DA3.
As much as I loved quite a few of my wardens, different as they were, I was content to shelve them and fond to simply have them be indirect cameos in DA2. They had their moments of glory and wrote history. And while less fond of my Hawkes so far, I'm still hoping DLC/expansion will enable me to give them an ending to their adventure that I liked, after which I'd be happy to shelve them and ready to take someone new into the world for DA3.

Maybe even keep the paths seperate throughout the entire game but have the actions decided upon by one "team" effect the other(s) plotline. I do however, wince at the potential bugs from attempting this.

I believe the series is about the world, so a new protagonist each game feels right to me. You can get a new slant on the world through them.
Dont particualaly care about any origins backstories as in dao they were overrated by many and at most only changed a handful of dialogues throughout the game once past the very short origins start.
If bioware can fit the different playable races into the story they want to tell, then thats great. But dont fudge the story just to fit them in. They fit in DAO because they were recruited to become wardens, otherwise they wouldnt have left their origins (alive

Voiced character destroys possible alternate interpretations of your own character. Voice turns Hawke from "my" character to "their" (Bioware's) character.Atakuma wrote...
Gender and appearance are faux customization now?
That's what I meant with faux customization: We're not really given the chance to build our character, we're just tweaking theirs.

The only way I want to continue playing Hawke is if s/he finally learns to make decisions that actually matter for something.

I don't agree with this. Shepard very much felt like "my character," despite having a voice his his/her own. That's not the problem, at least not for me. My only problem with Hawke is that s/he really didn't make that much of a difference or do anything significant. S/he was just along for the ride.

Shepard is one of the worst examples. The very game system forces the player to metagame his choices and turn Shepard into one of the two stereotype Shepards the games offers as the only options: Captain Picard Shepard (Xenophile peacemonger) or Dirty Harry Shepard (human supremacist +++hole).HallowedWarden wrote...

DA3 will have a new character, it won't matter if you like the warden or hawke, DA is about Thedas not about characters.
I want to get 5 € each time you said that.
ME proofs that a stable main character has no negative impact on the game experience.

Yes. There should be more voice options, at the least.

If it’s about Hawke or DA2 companions then it’s a no buy.
