I don't want the Warden back. At the end of Awakenings, she was God, more or less - if she came back, she'd have to be set at level one, wondering where all of her awesome went and having classes like Arcane Warrior retconned and that would suck. Like, a lot. And there has to be a limit to how many people's shoelaces one person has to tie for them, anyway.

I don't want Hawke back either. Let someone new and untested have their fun in the next installment.

I want a re-playable game where you can choose between playing as the Warden or playing as Hawke. The companions you have being dictated by the saved games you imported from DA:O and DA 2. If it's anything other than that, I won't be surprised but (selfishly) I will be a wee bit disappointed.

Edit: Adding in yet another protagnist makes no sense plot-wise. There are so many loose ends in the plot for both existing protagonists already.

New character with a better story than Hawke because his sucked. Also, focus on female main character more.

I always thought it would be interesting if every Dragon Age installment had you play a Warden--not only the one from Origins, but ones from all walks of life.

In Origins we played a newbie Warden who accepts his destiny.

In Awakenings we played an experienced Warden who recruits others.

In DA2 we play a normal human who...... moves to a new city, gets a LOT of jobs, gets used by a dwarf, and then is unable to do anything to stop or affect the series of events that happen afterwards.

How about, in Dragon Age 3, we play a Warden with the potential to become a Warden--but when he sees what the Joining actually is, he flees and manages to escape (unlike Ser Jory in Origins)?

How about a Warden that does drink the blood, but then abandons the order and goes off on his own?

How about a Warden who dislikes the way the Wardens operate, wants to change things, and inspires a civil war between the Wardens?

How about you play as a Warden who saved the world once upon a time, and then went off into the Deep Roads to die--but instead, got Darkspawn Sickness and LIVED with it?  He's still alive, still thinking, half man, half Darkspawn, all Grey Warden--and he returns to the surface, much like the Architect, to try to help the world communicate and make peace with the Darkspawn.

How about a Darkspawn traitor who becomes a Grey Warden?

What if Morrigan's child becomes a Grey Warden just to take the order down from the inside out?  They think he's one of their best Wardens--but he's the damn Archdemon!

Of course, the world DA:O set up is so expansive tbat there are a million stories that could be just as interesting as a Grey Warden's story.  --But Hawke?  That was NOT interesting.  Even if you make him a mage, no one responds to him being a mage; there's nothing special or interesting about him and I didn't care about his story at all.

Warden or an entirely new character, though I can't imagine someone being more epic than the Warden. I didn't care much for Hawke.

I'd like to play someone who isn't an errand boy, i.e. not the Warden, and I'd like to play a character who, in the end, succeed at least some of the time, i.e. not Hawke. New protagonist for DA3!

I think we need a new protagonist who has a clear goal and the means to achieve this goal. Hawke had no real focus. He was dragged along by the events around him and his ties to the people involved. The Warden had a clear goal, stopping the Blight, but he spent the whole game doing what amounts to a series of "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" moments. Every time he went to a new location he was forced to solve the problems of the residents before they would even consider helping him. Which lead to the events of DA:O taking a whole year. What the hell were the darkspawn doing after Ostagar that took them that long to march across Ferelden?

Hawke was fine. Just need more character and personality development. He seemed quite shallow in DA2 but I was alright with him being the protaganist.

I'd like to have a choice to play a new protagonist, my Warden or my Hawke. This would at least keep the peace... for a time. Bioware would definitely make money from it since it pleases pretty much everyone. If the Warden didn't die, their story was never finished. (Even if he went into the mirror with Morrigan, that would leave their story untold since Morrigan's child is bound to have some future importance of some sorts). Hawke's story is obviously not done and quite a few enjoyed their Hawke. Alas, many people won't touch DA3 if Hawke is in it, so perhaps some sort of compromise? It can be done. It was done with Awakening, despite the bugs.

Can't imagine how much it would cost, but if they want to bring back core fans while pleasing new ones, I can't really see any other way, besides choosing between the two or three for yourself, or playing as a whole new protagonist.

Besides, Bioware did say they were listening... They would make quite a bit of money and respect if they were.

Then again, I'm just babbling.

I HATE HAWKE FROM DAY ONE!!!! i hate the game even more when i play the Demo, watch this jack ass make feel me frustrated cause i just loss my Grey Warden.

LOL! I like hawke but never saw it as a supergod..

step1)Hawke creates itself
step2)went to Ferelden and kick warden from DA
step3)takes warden place and start to create the soon to be  family members
step4) Hawkes with his newly created family start running away from Lothering as level 1 character..

ahahaha I hate you hawke! My warden was lvl 30!! lol!
Any way the writers probably couldn't come up with all the warden's ends, if you want to find hawke as the reason of the warden's ends, go ahead, it amusses me greatly.

Someone else, new games with high level characters aren't fun, and sequel power drops are worse.

I think there should be 3 options. 1. you can play as your warden. 2. you can play as your Hawke 3. you can play as a Seeker or some other brand new character. Each would have there own storyline and would intersect with with the others. Possibly all ending up in your playable group or something. It would be hard Bioware but I think would be worth it. It would also add a lot of replay value.

I think a new character, elf, human, dwarf or qunari, with any class, and different origins for him, depending on your choices of gender, race and class, but you have some origins from other countrys! For exemple if you choose an human nage, you are from Thedas, but an dwarf warrior from Orzammar. I think too that other special origins must be avaiable if you did certain choices in DA:O and 2, just like you are a human rogue be the best friend of the son of Morrigan.

Either the Warden, or a new hero with different race options/origin stories.

In DA3, you play as Cassandra Pentacost. You get to see all the effects of DA2, as you travel around Thedas looking for clues where Hawke or the Grey Warden are. There will be no combat, bioware listened to customers and will not be putting combat into the game. There will be no characters in the game either, because bioware seems to be unable to create characters after firing Mary Kirby out of jealousy. They figured, the sin of omission is less than the sin of commission. There will not be third person view, because that takes effort... there is only a first person view, so you don't even get to see Cassandra's beehind as you walk and sail around the mysteriously desolate Thedas.

*SPOILER ALERT!!!!*

After about 50 hours of traveling across recycled continents, finally you will meet this character and the game ends mysteriously. Is it Hawke? Is it the Warden? Both? Will it kill you? Does it spell the end of the Dragon Age? What a great ending and prequel to more games.

A new character with race selection

I would also like to have a totally new character with more background options, but I'll be happy if they restrict the options again as long as we don't wind up playing Hawke point two.  I would be *perfectly content* if the next game does something bold and daring and has the main character be an elf or a dwarf or a kossith, or even a darkspawn or some sort of weird crossbreed or a golem.

Bioware, you have established that you're willing to do really new things with this series.  BE BRAVE AND KEEP AT IT.  Yes the games have flaws.  Don't restrict yourselves to an attempt to polish a turd.  (Not that I think the games thus far have been turds, but this is what it would be for those who did.)

lol oh god, Sandal as a protagonist. I can just imagine how all the epic scenes would turn out.

Knight: Sandal! There's been sightings of an Archdemon up north. We haven't had news of any darkspawn, but I suspect they will be surfacing soon for an invasion. What are your orders?!

Sandal: Enchantment.

Knight: You think this is funny?! People's lives are at stake! You're our leader! What are we to do?!

Sandal: ...

Knight: WELL?!

Sandal: Enchantment.

The game would be way to short. Sandal gets into a battle and lays waste to all the enemies. Enchantment! Credits roll!

Waiting for the warden's to get their act together.. lol!

Serious now I wouldn't mind playing hawke, it should  have more weight in the conflicts, Hawke should stop been late to save the day and hawke should have the Li at his/her side! After that am game.

Making a new character and putting in on top of what hawke did or didn't doesn't make much sense to me But, am not a writer and it probably make alot of sense to them.

Hahahaha. The game would be more entertaining than DA:II, at least.

At least for me. :D
