The Soldier should really get an Immunity-type ability again

Hardened Adrenaline Rush is nice, but what about just plain Immunity? Obviously tweaked to support ME3's gameplay.

What do you think?

Definitely not. Immunity spamming made it impossible to die on ME1 if you built your character properly.

No Immunity. Adrenaline Rush is a great ability because it can be used offensively OR defensively, removing the need for Immunity. A protection type skill would just further encourage soldiers to sit behind cover and play passively. Plus, if you really want a skill like that you can always take it as your bonus power

Well it would be tweaked.

It's just weird that the Sentinel gets Tech Armor, but the Soldier doesn't have something like that

Well, ME3 soldiers have access to an ability called fortitude; make with that what you will.

My favorite class in ME is the soldier... I don't need any biotic and tech abilities (apart from Reave). Immunity has saved my butt in ME1. Hardened Ad.Rush saves me too.

Immunity would just be too broken. Not only does Ad.Rush reduce damaged, but immunity you takes no damage right?

Yeah, it certainly sounds like a passive, although I doubt they will give a class 2 passive abilities.

Yeah, it certainly sounds like a passive, although I doubt they will give a class 2 passive abilities.

They already have all the ammo powers, a useless Concussive Shot (although it seems to be improved), and another passive ability.

It depends on how the cooldown system works. I doubt you'd want to be spamming Immunity when you could be popping an Adrenaline Rush to clear out a room of enemies. Aggressive play is more entertaining than defensive play. If you want the feeling of invulnerability that Immunity afforded in ME1, perhaps the Assault Armor Sentinel is the class for you.

I think the soldier is fine, adrenaline rush is a good ability.  unfortunately the ammo powers are boring, but I can't think of anything else.  Unless the soldier has different types of grenades.

Uhh, no. It would totally imbalance the classes.

Immunity is effectively, "Won't Die Till This Runs Out".

Unless every class has it, keep it out.

Sounds like the Soldier will have something called Fortitude, which could be a better alternative to Immunity.

And Immunity annoyed the hell out of me in ME1, so I don't want to see it ever again.

As people said, Soldier will have Fortitude in ME3. I'm eager to see what kind of power it is.

Was it confirmed that this is a power?  I thought it might be a passive ability.

Fortitude was Grunt's unlockable power; we already know what it does...which yes, is very similar to immunity.

...in this case, I'd hazard a guess at it maybe being a passive? Maybe every class has two specific passives now; one for attack and one for defence? Just a thought...

I agree.. immunity sounds good... he's a soldier afterall and he's not supposed to die from bullets
another option I like that would make a lot of sense is for the Soldier to get some type of damage bonus with all non-heavy weapons - this would balance the lack of tech and biotic abilities

I'm guessing you only tried the fully upgraded version of this ability in ME1, because for me, the first level of it fighting the Krogan battlemaster (liara quest) didn't help one bit

we're in the 22nd century, people developed all types of genetical engineering, not to mention armor technology. the soldier shouldn't die from bullets as easy as the other classes do... he breathes bullets and knows how to dodge them by nature, they might even give him a heavier armor with a special back-up shield generator or eezo core that would repel all attacks for a short duration (this would explain immunity to the more detail-oriented fans)
I'm all for immunityB)

Has that been confirmed? I don't remember hearing about that although I have been a bit slow in getting all the ME3 screenshots/videos/news from E3.

I'm not going to complain if Bioware want to give the 'Soldier' class a new skill for ME3 ( since most of my Shepards are Soldiers ) especially now that Soldiers have now lost a lot of thier individuality now that the other classes can use the Assault Rifle. Personaly I've always been happy with the Soldier skill set from ME2 even though deep down I've always secretly feared that that skill set might be a bit dull. Ammo powers maybe very useful in combat but it is always hard to think of them as skills instead of weapon mods, thier just not as sexy or exciting as Singularity, Overload, Reave, Charge or the countless other skills that the other classes get.

I think it'd be cool if the Soldier had 2-3 unique Heavy Weapons that could be used as main weapons. Like, if the Revenant had been in the Heavy Weapon slot. I mean, the appeal of the Soldier is using all your weapons. Being able to have another "main weapon" slot would add some flavor and tactical depth.
