The "lesser" races, such as Hanar, Elcor, Volus, and any other race that doesn't hold a seat on the council could be considered lesser.  Humanity was once viewed as such, until we got a seat on the council.  But would they play more a bigger role in stopping the Reapers?

*Note: I did not include Quarians or Krogan as a lesser race because they play a major role in the ME universe.

I hope not. The Elcor especially were a facepalmworthy creation. The Volus are a cringeworthy human stereotype, hardly what I'd call inspired. And the Hanar look ridiculous. I'd rather not see any of them in ME3.

However, assuming they are there, it's possible that the Hanar might play a role. They once had contact with (and now worship) the Protheans. Maybe some plot development could be made out of that.
