I vote we let the Reapers eat all the batarians they want to - then roll in and kill all of the Reapers. If any batarians live after the Reapers are gone - then we hunt them down and eradicate them. Spare no one - write it on a 9 of diamonds - so let it be written, so let it be done.

Yes! Those batarians are such monsters! It's not like we're the ones who do genocide. We should exterminate them all! *Sarcasm*
I swear, you might as well kill the krogan princess...

I love that people jump on Ashley about racism.

But then go in to loving detail on how they want to commit genocide on a fictional race :/

And then Bioware made us recruit Batarians. Interesting back-story they said. Goddam terrorists I said.

Bioware has worked too hard to make us hate Batarians to give us a four-eyed squaddie now. No hard feelings Batarian Sympathizers.

Yeah, I find the hypocrisy of people to be very funny.
"Ashley is a bit mistrusting of alien races. OMG SHE'S A RACEIST! Zaeed says "Goddamn terrorists" and Shepard (Not intentionally) murdered 300,000 batarians (plus human slaves and servants). It's ok to hate those damn blinks :D"
Why do people treat atrocities, terrorism and genocide as something to laugh or celebrate about? Even if it is a video game...

Bioware went to lengths to make us hate those lightbulb-headed, skynet-like, reaper-worshipping geth in Mass Effect 1 and yet, nobody said anything about Legion becoming a squad member other than it being improbable.

When I fought the geth, I didn't HATE them. They were my enemies and they served the Reapers, but I didn't hate them. As for Leigon becoming a squad member, they made it clear that he wasn't part of the geth faction that I had fought. Throughout the course of the games, there have been no good Batarians. They have always done one or more of the following:

Been racist towards Humans
Tried to kill/Threatened/Pulled a gun on Shep
Massacre Humans (Bring down the sky)
Poison Humans (Bartender)
Been Criminals (EVERY BATARIAN ON OMEGA)
Been Slavers (Atrocities described in colonist side mission)
Been Goddam Terrorists

My point was, If Bioware wanted to eventually give us a Batarian Squaddie, they would have made a few good Batarians to be able to sympathize with, Instead of the above. It's not gonna happen.

I hated the geth and thought that they were synthetic monsters fit only for eradication. That changed in Mass Effect 2. I think calling every batarian a criminal on Omega is a pretty unfair accusation and I think that calling them slavers is false (Due to a caste system).
Bioware can change the batarians easily in Mass Effect 3 but the reason I think there isn't going to be a batarian squaddie is because the reputation of batarians among the fanbase has been fairly negative, sort of 40-60 or 30-70. I would like a batarian that breaks all of those stereotypes so it will be more interesting. Not some violent, slavery-supporting, human-hating ass****.

I didn't hate the Geth, you hate the Geth. Fine.
When I said every Batarian on Omega I meant every Batarian you MEET on Omega, sorry.
It is well documented that Batarian raid colonies and enslave people. Whether they are part of a Caste system is completely Irrelevant. It doesn't make their victims any less slaves.
The reason why Batarians are so unpopular is Because Bioware wants it that way. They're not going to do a 180 because some fans want it.
If they do go that route, I want it to be a choice as to whether or not he joins the team. I know my Ruthless Colonist Shep wouldn't allow a Batarian on his ship.

My thoughts:
Batarian male Spectre.
That's right. They were a part of the galaxy stage long before humans and it is far from impossible for them to have had at least a few. He could even be representing the Council at Shepard's trial when the attack on Earth happens. He could escape on his own and you meet up with him again later and he, having seen what the reapers can do, offers to join you. There is a ton of option for dialog, like why he stayed a Spectre when the Batarian govt. left Council jurisdiction. His thoughts on slavery; and the convo I'd want to have the most is with him being a Spectre would he have done what Shepard did at arrival...there are a ton of options and it would not be too hard to implement.

I said I USED to hate the geth and for the record, the caste system is one of the main factors in slavery. The lower class and caste of batarians wouldn't own slaves, only the higher class would.

About not wanting a squaddie: That basically was the same thing with recruiting on ME2. If you didn't like a Squaddie, you didn't have to recruit him/her and you could basically find someone else to do that job. At first, I thought that a batarian squaddie wasn't necessary but after hearing about most of the batarian race becoming reaper food and it being an endangered species, it would be very interesting.

In my opinion, the only race made out to be hated and ONLY hated (Sometimes even laughed at) by bioware are the vorcha but batarians have some potential.

We all have a difference of opinion and I respect yours.

I thought spectres were only of races that have a council seat, well, until Shepard came.

not sure if it has been said already, but what would be more interesting would be a three way chat between Zaeed, a Batarian and Colonist Femshep.. *yeah I went there, Femshep ftw!"

Yeah, there are also people who apparently hate Cerberus but at the same time claim that they wouldn't mind if Batarians and/or Vorcha were wiped out by the reapers.

There are a few non-council race spectres but they're fewer in number. Saying this, a race probably need at least an embassy on the Citadel before members can become spectres, so a batarian spectre is unlikely.

They'll change their tune when the council erects a big ass Vorcha statue in the presidium in honor of them saving the galaxy from husks.

Yes and then 200 years from that, they'll stop laughing at the Volus and erect a big ass biotic god statue of the volus who saved the galaxy from evil robot demon unicorns. You'll see. You'll ALL see!

Cause they have never experienced it firsthand. Oh boy would those attitudes change if they did.

What do you think is it possible that we get a batarian for the team?

I think its a great opportunity for the ME 3 story.

I'm kinda hoping for Balak.
It'd be a good story and it go from reluctant alliance to Fire Forged Friends.
It also feels so fitting considering Arrival and ME1 DLC. Shep and his motivations in those DLC respectivly.

Batarians? That's a bit rash, I'd say. Rash, risky and ill-advised!

Frankly, I'd rather have my nipples pinched by a man with small and inoffensive genitalia.

Good Luck and Stay Safe

You can have a geth on your squad, and we didn't see a single good one until Legion.

And you guys think batarians are impossible?
