I'm not opposed to the idea, just not sure how/where/when they would bring it up. In 2 we see more of the batarians and not all are bad. They seem more like the bastard step children of the galaxy. I would like to see one even as a temporary squad member.

I'd love another squint for Shepard to freely oppress. Sticking that welding knife in "Sergeant"* Cathka's back wasn't nearly satisfying enough after Balak's bomb.

* As if any squint in the squint armed forces can make higher than private...

Yay for batarian squadmate support. I've wanted one for some time now. I have a few Shepards who would like to have some extensive conversation with him about a certain slave raid on a certain colony world. And I'd like the batarian squaddy to be an ass about it.

It would be really cool if he was a boss battle first. Lots of RPGs have boss battles where the boss joins you after being defeated, but this hasn't been done in the ME series yet. It could also give you the option to let him join or just shoot him in the head if you wish.

Even for non colonist Shepards, the history between batarians and humans would make for some very intriguing dialog.

The same applies for my War Hero Shep.

The dialogue between those two would be a lot of fun early on, when neither particularly trusts the other. Maybe by the end they still aren't exactly the best of friends, but there is a grudging respect and some element of absolution between the two of them for past 'sins' against the other's species.

Why do people say that Bioware wants us to hate them, when ME2 kinda made me feel sorry for them like the ones on Omega and the colonists that were killed during Arrival.

Besides two of them (the shopkeeper on Omega and the guy in Garrus' squad) they're either terrorists,slavers,mercs or all around douchebags.

The only species that has it is worse are the Vorcha. They don't even get a real character for the player to interact with(and no pointless Shisk and the idiot at the end of Mordin's recruitment don't count).

It seems that Bioware is making us hate the batarians far less since Bring Down the Sky. The batarians have really suffered since the events of arrival and it kind of makes me feel sorry for them. I don't think batarians will be the "Violent, pariah race" anymore in ME3.
