The big change I want is for the COMM room to get some chairs and be a bit bigger. A return to ME1 debriefing.
A gym and/or gun range.

That too, I miss the ME1 debriefings.Ser Bard wrote...

Perhaps they could replace one of the observation rooms with a gym/gun range.

No need for armed guards like in ME1. They were completely pointless.
Not sure if I want the squadmates to be able to roam the ship. Would be a bit of a pain to have to track them down each time you want to talk to them.
Minigames like pool tables, dart boards, poker tables etc. are a pretty good idea I think.

A) Have more collectibles, (That don't die if you forget to feed them.) Things like Shepard's old N7 helmet and the silver orb thing were awesome, and I think it'd be great if you could get other things like that, for instance you might save/collect a vid or voice message of your significant other, or an item they may have given you. Other odds and ends you might buy from shops like, perhaps a chess board or wall decore like you saw in Morinth's apartment.
C) Galaxy pad at your desk. I think you should be able to set courses for the normandy via intercomming Joker instead of having to stand infront of the galaxy map to travel. Now I'm not saying you shouldn't still have the marvelous looking galaxy map, but it'd be nice to beable to do other things from your quarters too.
Ideally, you would start in your quarters then after each mission and when you sit at your desk... Kelly would chime in and feed you updates and for example she might say... Garrus mentioned that he was looking for you. At that point you could tell her to send him up, or you might patch yourself over to Garrus's room and inform him that you have a minute to spare.
Naturally this wouldn't work for all conversations, and you could still go and look for them regularly.. But to me, this seems like a overall better feel than just having your companions stationary to one location at all times.. How much can Garrus Calibrate, exactly?
D) Other than this, small things I would like to see would be making better use of the Normandy's security Cameras, like the ones you could access from Zaeed's trash heap. Maybe you could see something on the cameras that you could comment to your companions about: "Hey Liara, is your scalp itching..? I've noticed you've been scratching at your.... tentacles often.."
Lol, whatever.. Just things like that be they serious or comical.
E) Finally, I'd love to see a network feed in game. Beable to see the alliance network like you could Cerberus's on the menu, as well as hear and see news feeds from across the galaxy. (Kind've like how Starcraft 2 manages the news updates after each mission.) With generic broadcasts you can access from anywhere inbetween the new feeds.
Just my .02 cents.

What I would personally like to see is more creativity and utility about your office. Like, while the radio, the LI photo, and the collectible ships/pets were cute.. It'd be really nice to make more use out of that most personal space. And how I would achieve this is to do things like..:

Instead of manually hunting down each and every one of your crew, I think it would be spectacular to call them to your quarters (For things other than shagging or drinking) or if they just came there to randomly look for you. Alternatively, you could hold entire conversations with them over the intercom which would be right as rain to me. Also, Kelly (If she's still around of if you have another secretary, could just holo updates at you into your room.

Something like a holodeck from Star Trek.

This. Something like Pinnacle station but on your ship would be great.

Oh, god, so much this.
One the most advanced warships in the galaxy can't even feed a couple of fishes by itself? Weak.
And I like the idea behind a gun range.

-The return of a requisitions officer. Make him a Hanar trader keen to come along for the ride, or a Volus.
-More NPC movement, activity, and interaction. In cutscenes we always see Ken and Gabby, and Dr Chakwas, moving around the ship, yet in gameplay they stay static. I'd love to have more moments like Jack and Miranda fighting, but also positive- Garrus and Tali catching up, Liara visits Joker in the cockpit, you can sit and have a meal with your crew in the mess hall, etc. EDI could have a "locate squadmate" function so you can find people who've moved.
- A customizeable Shuttle, Mako or Hammerhead. Let us access the hangar bay, and use a console to change the paint job, and the individual parts of the different ships. That way, people who didn't like the Hammerhead's lack of armour could upgrade it. Or if they wanted a Mako style cannon, they could add it on.
- A virtual firing range to test out our new upgraded weapons could be cool
- Manually walk on and off the Normandy, ala ME1. I don't know why but I really missed the simple feature of being able to walk in and out the door of my ship.
- Different star fields outside the windows: When we're in orbit around a planet, it'd be really cool to go the observation deck and actually see the planet outside, or in front of Joker's cockpit windows. Or when we're landed at the citadel, being able to see the docking bay from inside your ship.
- Access to news broadcasts in the captains quarters via a TV or holo device. Just little snippets of news here and there, much like what we used to hear in elevators, or around the hub worlds in ME2.
- A useable cockpit station that lets you control some weapon systems. Could be optional, that way people who aren't interested can avoid it. Turret play (ala the Millenium Falcon) could be really cool, if done correctly.
- A calibrations minigame. You finish it, calibrations are done, and Garrus can never use it as an excuse to dodge your attempts at conversation.
Dev resources probably wouldn't allow for all this cool stuff but hey, I can dream, right?

Yes. The renegade option is to go save your crew later. The paragon option is to go save your crew immediately. Even though you still have to physically go to the Omega 4 relay, in terms of conversation you either make a paragon or renegade choice.
That is how I see it.

I like his/her ideas. Reminds me of Star Trek where, unlike Star Wars, the ships had a very real and very much alive feel and you were actually captain of the vessel. I like the idea of the star map being accessible from your cabin and especially of of calling people up to your cabin for something other than sex.Sierra Crysis wrote...
Long, yet cool post goes here
It should be limited use though, to avoid the player abusing the system. I know for a fact that I almost never entered my cabin in ME1 and only entered in ME2 for an armor change, fish feeding, or Kelly dance. It'd be a shame to have the entire Normandy be ignored in favor of your cabin. Maybe have Kelly send up those "Garrus wants to talk to you" messages rarely or for critical moments like his own personal mission. Make the player go to wherever Garrus spends his time and speak to him directly if he wants to go through the full experience of the conversation.

I am all for the loft having a few more gizmos but I liked the sanctuary feel it had in ME2. It was Shepard's place, somewhere to drop the Commander mantle.
