from what i have heard the pc plays pretty different from the console versions. i know its gonna play different cause of the keyboard/mouse and controller but what i have heard is one is gonna play like an action rpg and the other will play more of the classic rpg style. i preordered the ps3 and pc versions anyhow lol that way when wife wants to watch tv or use the computer i never have to stop playing. i just ask this because i ordered console and pc and thought if would be cool if they both played different.

I was wondering the same, though my concerns were more geared towards the price difference between the PC and console games. That always worries me because there is very little love it seems for the PC community anymore when it comes to gaming. Even with games like Ghostbusters this year, which had multiplayer on the other versions except PC... That really irked me.

they do, mainly based on control limitations and partly on graphical (really cpu) limitations of the console.

The console is more single character control based, and doesn't have as many enemies on screen at once so some battles will differ. Also, the difficulties are changed somewhat.

I'm not getting on anyones case here, but there are some topics similar to this, and the reason I say this is because most of these PC or Consoles whats the difference, becomes PC VS CONSOLES THE ULTIMATE FLAME WAR, so just saying.

You know where someone says in a subtle but intending way that consoles suck because the hardware is outdated and then someone says I dont like upgrading my pc all the time to play games I can get on my console, then it's well your an idiot because pc is the best, then so on and so forth. Because it becomes moreso people getting defensive because they spent their hard earned cash on what they wanted and people say your a ****** and cheap, so naturally yeah defense.

And despite reviews and gameplay, nobody truly and personally knows until they play it, and by then you should just be happy you're having a good time playing a great game and not argue right?

Operative84, I surely get what you're saying there. I'm more interested in learning the differences than getting into a petty console vs PC war. I usually just stop posting in a thread if it gets like that. :P

And I'm certainly not complaining that the PC version costs less if it's the same game. ;)

PC = TOOL SET? custom mods, better graphics, the controls are an opinion, my headset has amazing sound, if you wanted to you could use a computer on a TV screen

I'm just telling the truth. Keyboard and mouse don't work with a large TV because most would have to move their desk where their couch is, the graphical difference isn't as big since the consoles are native 720p which is just about indistinguishable from 1080p and I couldn't possibly care less about the toolset and amateur content.

one simple question...

Is there going to be a huge difference in gameplay and feel between the two versions? Will PC feel like Baldur's Gate while console feels like Mass Effect? ie. both great in there own respects, but totally different gameplay style (i think DA:O on console will not be quite the same as ME but you catch my drift...)

in taht giantbomb video the Dave guy said he had played alot of the PC version and he kinda was telling Vinny as the video went on what some differences he could tell right off the bat. like he was obviously mentioning the controls. and how the Menus were completely reformated for the consoles that they looked built entirely seperate but still had the similar layouts. also he mentioned that the PC looked better in areas like textures and PC has some nifty Lightbloom effects. Which were things he noticed. and tahts just being inside a cave so im sure if they woulda played out in the world with trees and such he prob coulda pointed out other lil things he noticed. (im not going pro PC im getting it on 360 cuz my PC is old and i dont have the money to buy the parts for a new one. But im not to worried about a lil loss in quality of looks .. they dont matter to much to me in some cases as long as the game overall looks pretty decent.)

Differences between the two [PC vs Console] versions can be observed in gameplay videos that are pretty spoiler free here:
PC: http://www.giantbomb...ge=3&sort=first
360: http://www.giantbomb...ns-360/17-1528/

PC has the Toolset, and will be able to download user created content. (There are some talented folk out there. I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with.) I've heard the more popular ones may end up as downloadable for consoles, though I can not say for certain.

Interfaces are different [as seen in the above videos] and really, whether the pros outweigh the cons of one or the other depends purely on personal preference, not fact. Screen size, sound system, etc are really a matter of disposable income. It's likely that in a varied community such as this, that you could find one player's PC set up inferior to the average Console setup, and another far superior. Speed of the use of the interfaces is also likely dependent on which you are more familiar/comfortable with.

I haven't looked into what sort of Down Loadable Content [free/bonus items] are available for Consoles or if the physical goodies in the Collector's Edition are similar. I decided on PC CE long ago. Monitor size vs tv size is negligible, sound systems aren't very different, and comfort for 1 vs the other involves rotating 90 degrees in my chair. *shrug*
Cloth map and soundtrack in CE made it very appealing.

The difficulty settings are also a bit different (consoles = a bit easier, PC = a little tougher per difficulty level).

small screen, not if u arent sitting 20 feet away like with a console
controls not only are able to handle more better, but are actually quite natural
sound system can be quite good whether u have surround sound or a nice set of headsets

oh and better graphics
mods
controls
camera options
better difficulty options

etc
etc
etc

Gotta love the pic of George Takei laughing his ass off.

On Topic: As others have stated, there are some differences between PC/Console versions. But I see that they are small enough to not change the over all experience of the game. If your computer is less powerful than your PS3 then I would suggest the PS3, and if the PC is more powerful PC all the way, just because it will have user made content.

All other aspects that were brought up are superfluous and unimportant to the OP's question. TV vs Monitor, sound system, comfort, and ease of control are all dependent on the user. In fact my monitor is bigger (and higher resolution) than my TV I use for gaming. Don't most TV's cap at some low resolution as well as being only 720p? That is an honest question since I do not know much about televisions.

Personally I think the major difference between the PC and console version will be the graphics. Do not get me wrong the graphics look better on a pc but the 360 and PS3 graphics aren't shabby either.

Think there will be a minor difference in terms of game play because on the console version you don't have the hot keys and the macros you can use to pull of moves and use items quicker. But knowing Bioware they put as much effort into the console versions to make gameplay as streamline as possible.

Back then when deciding on playing fallout 3 on the ps3, many friends told me that's more of a PC game. We were all skeptical because playing first-person shooter on console is against the 'norm'. But I got PS3 version anyway. Aiming using analog was never easy compared to using mouse for manually aiming the gun. But eventually got used to it and it was fun too. Without playing the PC version, I can't really imagine the sligthest difference.

So perhaps only if you play both on PC and console version (like yourself) you can feel the difference, otherwise it won't even bother you because you'll be so used to one version and think that playing it differently (other version) would have been weird.

Not to exacerbate things but the PC vs Console war was over before it began. PC's are a superior platform, and thats it. It's all about versatility.

As for the "controls" issue, if you console lovers haven't played an FPS using a mouse and keyboard then you have no room to comment. Seriously, if someone told me I had to play TF2 or L4D with a damn controller I'd give up gaming. Not to mention the fact that RTS games are near impossible to play on a console.

(Not to be too harsh, consoles DO generally do fighting games better...but then again, SF4 on PC with a pad is more than good enough :P )
