Will the book be also available as ebook version?
I'm not sure what TOR's plans are for the book just yet. It's supposed to come out in December, so I imagine I'll know more when we're closer to that date.
Thank you for the answer. I bought "The stolen Throne" as ebook version. Hope your next book will also get an ebook version.

Thank you so much, Mr. Gaider for writing yet another novel- I knew you wouldn't be able to stop at just two!
I can't wait to read it.
Any chance you would be able to post a small exerpt from your book...just to tide us over? December seems like such a long time to wait... <sigh>

The White Spire is just west of Rivain and east of the Arlathan Forest (northern Antivia. Or north of Antivia. Not sure on boundaries) Anyway, go straight north to the coast from the word 'Antiva' and you will find the White Spire. So, is there another White Spire in Orlais? Or is the map wrong?
BUT, if the map is right and the blub in the OP is wrong then, if Rhys is to head west to the wastes, he is going to have to cross Tevinter and either Orlais or the Anderfels (still not clear on boundaries there).

I've learned to live with that particular choice, but I don't really like this. I loved Shale and had her survive the events of Origins, but I see how she didn't in those of many others due to her survival being linked to a big mandatory decision. As for Wynne, I killed her, I watched her die... with a certain satisfaction, I might add. Heck, I even had Shale with me at the time. Don't think I can justify not doing so in a future playthrough, but we'll see.

Having stopped reading The Stolen Throne about a third in for some reason or another, I almost got excited to go ahead and continue it (followed by The Calling, of course). Then I read about Wynne and Shale being major characters in this... and I honestly don't know what to think. It almost feels like late february 2010 again, having just learned that a certain big endgame choice in Origins wouldn't be reflected in Awakening.
You mean the Magi boon?

Gaider has said this book takes the premise that Wynne and Shale are alive, not that it'll be canon forced on the players like Oghren, Anders, Justice, and Leliana were with those rectons.

And I know, but I think it would've been better to avoid using established characters, especially if they be dead.

Nothing is worth purchasing if it has D. Gaider written on the cover or in case of movies/games, listed in the credits.

Clearly this reviewer doesn't realize how multifaceted Grace was in "Best Served Cold," how complex Orsino was in "The Last Straw," or how dynamic and fleshed out the representation of mages were in Dragon Age 2.

Fine, fine... cagey, then.
Though I did have that one post where I mentioned Wynne's son by using the first letter from each word. That threw everyone for a loop, as I recall.

Is Rhys the character in DA Legends? I've never played the facebook game, and I was just curious.
Nope. Not the same character.
And for those who are wondering how I pronounce it, it's "Reece".
Also not only is Wynne's son have the same name as me but Mr Gaider spells it the same as my name. (Reece not Rhys)

As a literature nerd who really enjoyed Gaider's novels and hates licsenced books, I'm going to actually respond to that review.
- Mr. Gaider's writing is unpolished, yes, but he's new to prose. We have to keep that in mind -- the Stolen Throne was his first book that he'd ever written. And that's what I've really enjoyed about reading his books. A good reader can see all the turns of phrase he's working, the moments where he makes a breakthrough and his writing improves as a result. The plotting was tighter in the Stolen Throne, but the Calling was better written. I don't think Mr. Gaider is a brilliant writer today, right now. I think he's a talented writer with a whole lot of potential and I'm extremely excited to see him continue to grow and improve.
- The usual complaints about liscenced books don't really apply here. Okay, yes, the readers of them may still be at fault. Liscenced books should be about 2% of what you read, not 80% or higher, I agree with that. But the biggest problem with liscenced books in my mind is that it encourages lazy authors to recreate instead of creating, and they get a fat paycheque for their wallowing in someone else's IP. Glorified, lucrative fanfiction. What makes the DA novels unique is that BW doesn't hire some ghost writer to flounder about in the world for 400 pages and then hit the publish button. Mr. Gaider actually writes these novels himself. This is his world, his creation, and what he does within it is meaningful and has merit. Rest assured, the moment writers not on the DA team start writing DA books, I stop reading them. I think this is also the only IP that has the lead writer actually write the novels himself, which makes them unique.
- I don't see the complaints about the characters in the Stolen Throne there as having merit. I notice the reviewer didn't even try selling Katriel as a lazy archetype, a character as important to the story as the other main three. The entire book lead up to Maric's nice-guy easy naivete being shattered by the choice he has to make (and has to live with perhaps making wrongly) at the book's climax. His characters and his world don't allow all the lovers to get together and live happily ever after, and both couples are torn apart by the obligations of duty and honour. Loghain becomes an enabler who let his best friend make the decision that tore his soul out, Maric has to see that he can't be a good guy and a king both, and Katriel is possibly the most complex character in the DA franchise. Rowan? Maybe I can see the complaints with her, but every character ever written is an archetype to some extent and I enjoyed her, regardless.
IN SHORT, I see where the guy is coming from, but I think he sold the book short and painted it with a wide brush that didn't really apply to it. He also can't see the skill David Gaider employs beneath the crutches of an inexperienced writer. You can bet that Robin Hobb, George Martin, and Jacqueline Carey were all adverbing copiously on their first novels, too. They just didn't publish them.
You can find an argument in there, maybe -- that The Stolen Throne wouldn't have been published if not for who wrote it and which logo appeared on its cover. And that's true, and fair. But I think that if Gaider had chosen to be a prose author instead of a game writer, he would have published a book of his own eventually. He writes good dialogue, creates good worlds, and has a solid natural talent and sense for rhythm and flow that just needs some cultivation.
Myself, I'm going to keep buying his books to watch it grow.

I didn't get beyond the first few paragraphs of that supposed review, which consisted of nothing but elitist dismissal of franchise fiction and video games. Literary people are snobs. People who imagine themselves literary and post on the internet... they're a whole different category.

I'm under no illusion that I'm some fantabulous writer who can do no wrong. I do my best, and the most I can ask of myself is that I improve... and that's going to happen with practice, not via "helpful" critiques. I'm well aware of what my verbs are doing, and it's a pretty rare day that I don't criticize my own work more than anyone else does. Writers dip their pens in self-loathing, or so I'm told.
If someone wants to suggest that my writing isn't publishable-- meh. There are people who enjoy it. Someone's estimation of their intelligence for doing so or my intelligence for providing it shouldn't impact on anyone else. Certainly doesn't bother me.
