Every time I try to connect to my own dedicated server, whether through gamespy or direct connect, it says "The server seems to be behind a firewall or network" and fails to connect.

I am running the server and client on the same machine. The ports on the *.ini are 5120 and 5121.

All relevant ports are forwarded on the router.

NWN2 & server are exceptions to the windows firewall.

I am using no other firewall software.

I have an 8-port switch but I understand switches shouldn't matter?

Note that I can connect to my own game using LAN connect.

Also note... when I am using the PortForward.come "port checker" tool, it says that port 5121 is open, but it cannot ping. Hmmm?

PS I am used to googling for my own problems, but this time I have failed. I just hope there's someone knowledgeable here that might have an idea...

Have you tried connecting to it from outside your network.

Inside the network you have a 192.168.x.x type ip address. The router has a different ip address which is used in game spy. The router handles routing traffic to 5121 to your specific computer on your lan ( it is doing this even if you only have one computer, it's easier to understand if you assume you have more than one since that is really what a router does )

Some routers are smart enough to notice you are using their outside address and send the traffic back towards the correct server, others are not. If you are on the same lan you should connect to a lan game, or use the direct connect to that ip. You really need to test it from outside the lan to know if things are working properly.
