In ME2 Shepard's backgrounds and origins were mentioned but barely used which made me feel they didn't have any meaning to them. Just an idea to increase play value. I think it would cool to have missions exclusive to the profiles we made for Shepard again.

Like Earth Bounders deal with the gang he/she was a member of; The Reds. Spacers spending time with their mother or the Colonist dealing with Batarian Slavers.

As well as to countinue thier invovlement with their backgrounds. Like Sole Survivors returning to Akuse. War Hero's checking on Ellysium. As well as The Ruthless and their dealings with Torfan.

It was confirmed that our background will have an importance, just so you know.

Got any links? Because Shep's background didn't have much significant at all in ME2.

Mac Walters (Lead Writer) has mentioned that Shepard's background will hold more significance in ME3.

I do want to see my Sole Survivor's relationship with Corporal Toombs come to a close, though.

That one has me worried, considering how badly the Alliance got its ass kicked in the beginning of ME3. All the burning debris falling from the sky in the trailers is according to the developers, the remains of Alliance ships re-entering the atmosphere. :crying:

Shep's mum may be KIA, as she's an executive officer aboard the Alliance dreadnought SSV Kilimanjaro.

I felt like it was mentioned quite a bit in ME1, and a little less in ME2. I agree that it didn't really have much of an impact beyond a few bits of unique dialogue though. Though, I guess being an Earthborn in ME3 will make every mission seem just a touch more personal.

For my main Shepard:

Military Tribunal: You massacred countless Batarians!
Shepard: Hey, the first time I did that you made me a Spectre!

...

Commander Shepard: Calling in an airstrike, mom

not necessarily don't forget that while Earth is important the Alliance does not post all of its military might around Earth but they have massive fleets stationed at key positions such as the Arcturus station I think there is a huge fleet near Earth maybe the 1st fleet and no I do hope that Bioware won't skip that part but sadly I think they will because creating Shepard's mother could be a pain in the ass depending on Shepard's appearance

If Bioware can figure out how to change her hair/skin color to be somewhat similar to Shepard's I don't find it too difficult. Like the dad in Fallout 3, a few tints of color make all the difference. Doesn't have to be perfect, just enough to say "Yes, that's my mom" and we'll give any imperfections to the dad.

I'd like to battle the Thrasher Maw that killed my squad!

Ofcource she'll escape death. Did you forget who Hanah "Shepard" is the mother to?

I can't wait to run into the old gang, as well as Toombs. Very glad they decided to work these in!

Actually, in ME2, she's the captain of the SSV Orizaba after rejecting a promotion to admiral to honor Shepard's memory.

You're right, I'd forgotten that. I've been playing ME1 recently. Still, that ship is also a dreadnought so very good chance she's directly in harm's way.

I agree with this that our backgrounds both childhood and Alliance mission should be featured more in ME3 at least having one mission for both profile items. I would particularly like to experience Akuze and Mindior.
