What would a good case be..

from what i gather every race will be going through their own problems and defending there territory..why should they send everything they have to save humanity?

The Turians would probably rev up their ship building and defend their own space and let humanity get its ass kicked for a few weeks/years
the asari and salarians would bide time
The batarians would Laugh themselves to sleep every night
The Qurians have a fleet of junk
The Geth will do what is best for them
The elcor and hanar are minor

Will running a few errand secure the various races undying loyalty?

it should be interesting

Well, maybe you can make them see that the only chance the galaxy has is when all forces are put together? Better than being killed one after one.

I suspect a huge part of ME3 will be in helping those other races before they help us. I also suspect that Shepard will have a plan that makes it in their best interests.

Because if they don't, they'll have quite a few more maybe more powerful Reapers to deal with.

Defend Earth, or watch human-reapers rise.

Humans saved the Citadel, when Saren and Sovereign attacked. Time to pay debts.

Well humanity helped save the citadel and depending on your choices saved the council. They also have a place IN the council. But as far as the other races they all in some way have been helped by Shepard.

Pretty simple. The Turians & Alliance have the two largest war fleets of all the races - excluding the Reapers of course. (If you let the council die in ME1, then humanity is actually the largest military force... for paragons, there's a lot of good-will towards humanity due to their sacrifcies, but they are smaller than the Turian fleet due to their heavy losses at the citadel battle)

The reapers are attacking everyone, not just humans... if the other races want the help of the powerful human fleet to stand any chance of survival, they have to agree to unite with humanity and save Earth.. in exchange humanity helps them in return.

Because if they don't a human reaper will be coming to get them. Strike early before the Reapers establish control of the relays and replensih their resources.

Edit: BTW, what the OP said is likely to be close to the mark in what they are all thinking at the start of the game.

it's true that each race would have reasons to just care for itself but seeing the Reapers vastly outnumber them and are superior technologically it's better to stand united than to die alone wouldn't you agree?

Too bad the Batarians are either dead or turned into husks.

As callous as this sounds, I highly doubt the alliance fleet would attempt to liberate earth by itself. They would attach themselves to another faction. There are plenty of real life examples of this happening like De Gaulle or the Polish Air Squadron both in WW2.

Watching how humanity gets obliterated doesn't help anybody. Why wait when that only means making the Reapers stronger. Not to mention no race could defeat them on its own. They either stand as one, or die alone.

Why? Because when you need a problem shot, ask a turian. When you need a problem talked to death, ask an asari. When you need a new problem, ask a salarian. When you want a problem fixed, ask a human. If it were not for the humans, they'd all be reaper chow and they know it.

ME3 will be about giving them a reason to do it.

In other words: favors.

Reminds me of DA:O.

Mostly because no amount of waiting will help the other races. Stand together or fall apart [paraphrased but appropriate]

One reason to come to Earth to fight may be that [in the Air / Space] Reapers are virtually gods. Perhaps on the ground new options for fighting will present themselves???

I just want to point out that the Quarian Fleet took down a Reaper with a single orbital strike in the E3 demo.

This. In the demos we´ve seen at E3, part of Shep´s mission was helping others against the Reaper...
So we´ll have to solve their problems first, before going to solve our problem at the end! ( saving Earth hopefully isn´t the same mission as destroying all Reapers...I mean I hope Earth isn´t the key point in destroying them)

If Shepard can find a plan that offers people a realistic chance of victory, then they'd be fools to ignore him. If he can't, then it's all pretty irrelevant really.

Basically for the same reasons the US eventually came to the aid of the allies in World War 2. It was the right thing to do, it helped prevent needless slaughter, they had their own vested interests in teh area under attack and leaving the attacking force alone would potentially leave them open for attack sometime in the future.

More or less anyways. I am not a history major or anything.

If we have to wait as long as we did in WW2, Earth is screwed.

We'd have to wait for the Reapers to strike a massive blow at one the aliens naval bases first....could take years....

Believe it or not, back in 1940 it was US policy not to get involved in foreign policy at all. That changed dramatically with Pearl Harbour.
