The Aliens should defend earth because...well...keyboard cat lives there?

It would be epic if a Salarian special forces team came down and rescued Keyboard cat then left. Keyboard Cat would then play his song as Reapers destroyed the Earth. The end!

Didn't that cat died years ago?

Actually ME3 kind of reminds me of the Doctor Who episode When a Good Man Goes to War.

Well I cant believe this hasnt been brought up. Reapers are interested in making another Human Reaper, so they are staying there longer so they can Harvest "us" humans and melt us to goo. I mean they did come with indoctrinated Batarians, they problay planned to use them to setup the next Goo factory and get started on gooing "us" humans up. I mean why else would they land on Earth when they could easily have just bombed Earth from orbit after destroying the Alliance Fleet that tried to defend Earth. The fact that they are occupying Earth instead of destroy us completely should tell us something. Also lets not forget they think themselves Gods and the other races dont believe the Reapers exist, key factors to why they arent worried about the other races. Humans have shown they could unite the galaxy so the Reapers are dealing with that threat first too.

I wonder what their ultimate goal is... I mean I understand that when they liquify a race into a new Reaper that it's an act of reproduction for the Reapers and also a means to immortalise the race they're "saving" (from entropy [physics concept]). But, assuming they only make 1 reaper from humanity, they know they could end up fewer in number than before they invaded, so there must be a bigger reason for why they do this. I wonder...

No, I'm not concerned by what I don't know, I'm concerned by what I do know. I've yet to see an explanation for what we know of ME1, ME2 and ME3 that brings them together in a way that makes any kind of sense at all.

Is it possible that Bioware have some incredibly clever story lined up for us that somehow ties these things together? I suppose so.

Is it more likely that they're just going to carry on making bigger and bigger plot holes until eventually all that's left is, "Reapers attacked, Shepard fought them and won, don't think too much about the rest"? I'm afraid so.

I share your sentiment, and I've not doubt that others do, as well.

Personally, I think BioWare is digging themselves a hole, and they're trying to use gimmics, plot devices ("Reaper technology," anyone), and other such half-hearted ideas to dig themselves out. Instead, I fear that they're just backfilling the hole before climbing out..

Hopefully, I'll be proven wrong.

Bear in mind, things which I am particularly pessimistic about usually have a positive outcome. I'm still not holding my breath, though.

Honestly - if I could fight and destroy the uber-alien robot race on someone elses planet... I would in a heart beat. Let Earth get crushed - it already is - but attacking while the Reapers are finishing Earth off (and let's be realistic - they won't destroy the Earth) is far better than waiting until they get to X homeworld.

I'm just gonna be ticked if the Elcor, Hanar (and by extension the Drell), and Volus don't get to contribute somehow.

Elcor squadmate.  That's what we need :D  They wear heavy weapons on their shoulders, you know.

"With demonic laughter: die, you worthless son of a varren." BOOOM!

"With dark humor: that's not going to buff out."

I still don't understand why thousands of Reapers cannot harvest home-planets of four major races simultaneously.

They can, but it takes time to get from point A to point B.  Earth is merely the first stop on their grand tour destruction.  It's not the last.

They don´t think like we do. If they lose 7 Reapers and make one new one might sound bad, but if in next 30 harvest seasons they lose none and make 1 or 2 new ones each time their numbers are increasing. After they get all they need they must make sure, that next season will be as easy as last one, so they try to destroy everyone and everything that might be threat in next season. That means every civilization that knows about Reapers and all tech that might warn or help next season harvest.

I personally don't think any of the other races/species gives a crap about what happens to Earth, but they are smart enough to realize that no species can stand alone against the Reapers and survive.  I'm sure there will be missions and or quests that Shep has to do to gain each species support in the war.

It really isn't that much different than real life, most citizens of one country could care less about what is happening in another country, but most/all Governments understand the need for allies, whether it's for economic or Militray support in times of crisis.

The only reason they would stand with earth is because once earth is gone, then they're next.

I think it's less about saving Earth and more about saving themselves...

They all know there is only one hope of defeating the Reapers: Shepard. Shepard is a human, so if they want his help, they need to take the first turn and help the humans.

Everyone knows that the Reapers are a myth! It's just the Geth. :)

Even though humanity saved them from Saren and Sovereign, they believe it was just the Geth.
They do owe us for saving their worthless council though. How Shep will convince them to unite or even believe in the Reapers before it's too late though... gonna take some storytelling magic.

As for the Reapers being on earth, they must have been playing our video games and watching our movies. Their Contra inspired Reaper was a failure, I bet they are gonna try a different route instead ... the deadly Tetris inspired reapers. Or the Robotech flying jet/robot Reapers.

Because they would rather the humans won than the Reapers.

They will defend Earth because Shepard will blackmail their governments with all their dirty secrets.

Thanks to the new SB.

I agree why heck citadel races will help me anyway if I saved councill, Gave them many info about cerberus and all things, 90% after evrtyhing good hate Sheppard and they hate humanity, and also they need to deffend their systems and they will let humanity to die or they will Finish Reaper job after final fight with reapers in 3rd game. (Could be good story For 4th game for new characters :) ) that's why I had Saved rachni, Tried to reprogram geths, tired to get quarian army and keept genophage infro from that salarian for myself If something goes wrong and they will leave us To defend by ourself We had many options In and after 3rd game to finish them :D

They probably don't want to, that's going to be the point of ME3 - Shepard style diplomacy, like Captain Kirk diplomacy except shooting aliens in the face instead of just punching them.

It is better to fight all together then to all be killed one by one
