First off, in DAO in my first playthrough as a rouge, I acted as a Warrior, with massive armour and dual wielding swords. Second playthrough, warrior, massive armor and dual swords.
I played the demo and I'm dissapointed that warriors can't dual wield, but I hate greatswords and dislike sword and shield. Rouges seem too jumpy and I'm not sure if you can dual-wield longswords?
What would you recommend for me in DAII, what should I pick when the game arrives tomorrow?

Rogues can only dual wield daggers, but the dual wield rogue is my favorite class option in the game. Very fun.

I still have a sad face about not being able to use swords as a duelist. Just feels criminal. But I'm a fan of the acrobatic stuff. But my rogues were always Swashbucklers.

If you played the demo, you have a good idea of how the classes play and can probably make a better judgement on which would work best from that. I found the dual-wielding rogue, my first character, to be more enjoyable in combat. Considering what you said about not liking two-handed or sword/shield and wanting to dual-wield swords, you should play a mage. Heh.

If you're getting the PC version there's a mod that adds some rather long "rapiers" you can dual wield.

I personally would go with rogue. There are a lot of lock pick items you can do, i found the game is more suited as a mage, but if you like a challenge then rogue or warrior. :)

These things are a matter of taste and playing the demo is probably a good way to check it out. I am playing a rogue, mostly because it's my usual preference. Personally, I find all the jumping around and teleporting annoying because I sometimes find it hard to keep track of him and his opponents, and all the visual effects going off don't help. I realize that a lot of people felt the old animations were too slow, but the new ones have me fighting enemies while simultaneously performing an Olympic floor routine worthy of Alexei Nemov, which I find a little silly. But your mileage may vary.

2 Handed warriors are a lot better in this game than they were in DA:O. I recommend atleast giving them a shot, as it was my favourite class/build to use throughout the game.

I played a two-handed sword wielder in DAO which I really enjoyed; when I tried a sword-and-shield guy in that particular game, I couldn't stand it. It felt very dull to me.

In DA2, I really enjoyed playing a sword-and-shield guy. There's a nice set of abilities that just seemed to, I don't know, work better than they did in DAO. You might want to try it.

DL a multiclass mod, and create a DW warrior, would be my advice.

OP I was like you, what about mages? To ME they got better in DA2 that they did in Origens, try them! I have more mages in DA2 that I have in origens to be exact I have 7 mages in DA2 and Only 1 in origens.
I have 1 warrior in DA2 she has been level 7 for a month now hehe, yeah I don't like them in DA2.

Try mages you might like them.

I would say any class but two handed rogue. The constant jumping around like a monkey on crack drove me mad after an hour. A truly horrible experience.
