and I don't think that this is a coincidence
Even with the interactive comic, there is still alot of stuff that new players are missing
So I created this thread to find and resolve the problems in introducing new players to Mass Effect
So far this is what i've found
The Codex
The Codex is supposedly an ecyclopedia of the ME universe and it's purpose is that if I hear about something in the game, I could open the Codex and read about it because an entry about it has been added to the Codex. In ME 2 they basicaly put almost all of the entries from the previous game right at the begining, which is fine for someone who played the previous game but if you throw so much information at a new player at the same time then it becomes overwhelming and new players will probably just skip the whole thing because they don't know or care to read all this stuff that they have never seen. My suggestion for solving this problem is to just restart the Codex for a new player and have them find of all the entries themselves, just like in ME 1.

That would be extremely difficult due to the fact that lots of the codex entries were found on planets in ME 1 that you can't visit in ME 2. Like Noveria, Feros, and the side missions associated with your squad and let's not forget the areas on the Citadel that players starting from ME 2 will not see. It's far better to just give it to them and if they choose to read it, fine. If not, fine. But ME 2 players can't just expect to see everything or most things if they haven't actually gone through the first one. Even the web comic Genesis can't help them fully comprehend all of the choices that were made through ME 1.Sheepie Crusher wrote...
ME 2 did a pretty but job in introducing new player to the franchise, if you remember, as of september 2010 half of the people who bought ME2 imported a save from ME 1 and only half the player have finished the game
